Chapter 1002 Whoever Doesn't Play Is a Coward

"He isn't going back," Ainslee said, crossing her legs and addressing Jane. "He's already sold himself to me. He's mine and will stay by my side to manage the family affairs."

Anthony glanced at the time that fifteen minutes had passed, and his expression grew darker with each passing minute.

Richard, who was privy to the situation, remained unperturbed. He sat nearby, sipped tea, and even called the waiter to change the water source when it wasn't to his liking.

Finally, the door to the lounge opened.

"Jane, what did he say to you?" Anthony rushed over.

Jane's expression was somewhat dazed, her mind filled with the thought that Jovan had sold himself to Ainslee.

'It's the twenty-first century, a modern and civilized society. How could such human trafficking still exist?' Jane thought.

Although Ainslee said that Jovan had sold himself to him, their interaction seemed more like old friends with deep affection.

It took Jane a while to regain her composure. When she noticed Anthony looked worried, with a trace of anger in his eyes, she said, "It's nothing. Let's go."

Jane bid farewell to Richard and Ainslee, pulling Anthony away to prevent him from discovering Jovan.

As for Richard, he had come with Ainslee. If Jovan and Ainslee wanted to keep something from Richard, Ainslee would naturally handle it.

Regarding the plan to return to Paykston, Jane instinctively felt it was not the right time to mention it. She would wait until they were off the ship. Otherwise, she would be unbearable with Anthony for the remaining two days on board.

If Anthony was incensed, he might even try to force Jane.

Anthony flipped his wrist and grasped Jane's hand.

"You're not hurt?" Anthony asked, holding her hand as they walked to their suite.

"No." Jane shook her head.

'Not only was I unhurt, but I had also seen Jovan!' Jane thought.

"Jane, did you forget to bring your brain when you boarded the ship? Do you know what the Richardson family does and who Ainslee is, yet you dared to be alone with him?"

Anthony had been holding back his anger all the way until they reached their room, where he began to scold her.

Jane was taken aback by the sudden outburst. Anthony had been actually fine on the way back, so she didn't immediately understand his change in demeanor.

"Hey, if you want to talk, just talk. No need for disparaging remarks!" Jane huffed, sitting down angrily.

Jane had looked into what the Richardson family did and knew exactly who Ainslee was. She knew he was someone who liked snacks and could be hit with a pillow by Jovan.

"Did he threaten you in any way when he asked to speak to you alone?" Anthony was mainly worried that Ainslee might try to use Jane to control Jovan if he didn't fully trust Jovan.

Jane pursed her lips.

Ainslee hadn't said anything to her. In public, he appeared gentlemanly and polite, but once inside the lounge, he didn't even spare her a glance, the epitome of duplicity.

However, since she had spent fifteen minutes in the lounge, she had to come up with something to say. It couldn't be too trivial, or it would be a challenge for her to explain her dazed expression upon exiting.

"Ainslee..." Jane took a shallow breath and met Anthony's eyes. "He said my brother is with him."

Anthony already knew that Jovan was with Ainslee, but he hadn't expected Ainslee to reveal Jovan's whereabouts to Jane so directly.

'Isn't he afraid of exposing more information to the outside world?' Anthony thought.

"He also told me that Joker is my brother," Jane said, almost certain that Anthony knew Joker was Jovan but hadn't told her.

Anthony, who had never been much of an actor, didn't even pretend to be surprised upon hearing this news, even though he had told Jane just a few days ago that he didn't know who Joker was.

Anthony casually asked Jane a few more questions to ensure that Ainslee had no intentions of harming her, then returned to his study to deal with some emails.

A dark glint flashed in Jane's eyes.

Acting was also a required skill for a competent socialite. One had to learn to convey the information she wanted to share and keep the crucial parts she wanted to hide.

Jane was prone to revealing her true feelings in front of Anthony, but she could still hold her ground for a few sentences, especially when those sentences carried weight.

"Anthony, do you know anything about Ainslee?" After a while, Jane wandered to the study door, her mind still preoccupied with thoughts of Jovan, hoping to glean more information from Anthony.

Anthony looked at the computer screen, finishing his last email before raising his eyes. He leaned back in his chair, leisurely gazing at Jane.

"Didn't you say you didn't want my information? If you want to know, go ask Ainslee yourself."

'Stingy Anthony!' Jane thought.

Jane bit her lip, not wanting to have an argument with Anthony.

"I was just being immature this afternoon. Mr. Clark, don't hold it against me," Jane said with a forced smile.

Anthony wasn't buying it. "Jane, in these three years, you have been so cheeky."

Jane who was annoyed, retorted without thinking, "I can't compare to you!"

She regretted it immediately.

Jane usually never misspoke, but when it came to Anthony, she often spoke without thinking, unable to hide her true feelings.

"Don't tell me you don't know anything about Ainslee?" Jane deliberately used a goading tactic, knowing full well that as the head of a top family, Anthony couldn't possibly be uninformed.

"That's right. I don't know him. I just met him," Anthony said.

Jane was about to explode with frustration.

Anthony was determined to make her pay for not listening to him that afternoon.

Jane thought for a moment, then turned back to the suite bar, grabbing a bottle of Lafite, a decanter, and two wine glasses.

Anthony watched as Jane came in with a tray of the wine and glasses. He closed his laptop, curious to see what she was up to.

"Anthony, why don't we play a game? The winner can ask the loser a question, and if they don't answer, they have to drink," Jane suggested, referring to the classic but effective game of Truth or Dare.

Anthony looked Jane up and down, giving her look, seemingly saying, "You can't handle it."  He said, "Jane, you want to challenge me to a drinking game? You really must have left your brain behind when you boarded the ship."

She was infuriated by Anthony's constant sarcasm.

"Just say whether you'll play or not. Whoever doesn't play is a coward!" Jane said.

'Could I be a coward? Of course not,' Anthony thought.

"What's the game?" Anthony asked, smiling as he motioned for Jane to pull up a chair and sit down at the desk.

Jane didn't want to play any games that required skill or brains, because she knew she might not be able to beat him in those areas.

So she took out her phone, opened the Facebook chat, and sent an emoji of a dice.

"Check Facebook," Jane said.

Anthony launched Facebook and saw the dice emoji Jane had sent, which had stopped at the number six.
