Chapter 918 Oliver, Are You So Insecure?

Tycoon City was located in the southern country. As soon as Oliver stepped out of the airport, he felt a warm breeze hit him.

Samuel spotted Oliver coming out of the arrival gate immediately and walked up to him. Without much small talk, he reported the search situation.

The situation was that they hadn't found Susan.

"According to the assassin, did you check the place where Susan dropped the gold bars, following the clues from that day?" Oliver asked as he and Samuel walked outside.

Both Oliver and Samuel were tall and handsome, attracting a lot of attention as they walked outside the airport.

However, their expressions were so grim that none of the eager women dared to approach them.

"We checked, but found nothing," Samuel said, his mood not looking good. Days of searching without eating or drinking had exhausted his limited patience.

Oliver turned his head and gave a few instructions to his subordinate, who then went off to contact various parties.

Oliver got into Samuel's car, which headed to the place where Susan had previously dropped the gold bars.

At this time of year, Paykston was in the depths of winter, with trees stripped of their leaves, leaving only bare branches. But Tycoon City was different, with a lower latitude and a temperate maritime climate, it felt like early spring here.

"It's a good place to hide, not easy to freeze to death," Oliver said, looking out the window with a cold tone.

Samuel caught the sarcasm in Oliver's words and awkwardly rubbed his nose, not knowing what to say.

Upon arriving at the destination, Oliver got out of the car to check the surroundings, his gaze falling on a residential building not far away.

"Did you ask over there?" Oliver pointed at the building.

"We asked, but no one saw Susan." If Susan was hiding, she naturally wouldn't leave any traces.

Oliver nodded. But as if he hadn't heard Samuel's words, he gave orders to his subordinates, "Go to the property management of that community and get the surveillance footage. If there are any private surveillance cameras, buy the footage."

They couldn't miss even the slightest clue.

With deep pockets, it was indeed the style of the RisingKing Group.

Money talked, so the investigation results came quickly.

In the footage recorded by a photography enthusiast, they indeed found traces of someone who looked like Susan. Oliver and Samuel's men continued to follow this lead.

"Find her and take her away immediately." Oliver's expression was dark, as if he was about to do something extreme.

Samuel, who knew Oliver fairly well, frowned and said, "Oliver, are you planning to take her away and forcibly extract her bone marrow?"

Oliver looked at Samuel calmly.

This was a silent confirmation.

"You can't do that. Susan isn't stupid. She must have a backup plan and might have already reached out to those people Caleb had contacted before. The more actions you take, the more people are waiting for you to slip up. Be careful not to become a target."

"I don't care," Oliver said.

Oliver had plenty of ways to get out unscathed, even if it meant paying a price. It was just reputation or wealth.

"Oliver, listen to me." Samuel sighed. "You have a wife and child now. It's not like before when you could do whatever you wanted. We both know Natalie. No, you know her better than I do. She values Lucas, but she also values you."

"Then do you think," Oliver paused, looking Samuel in the eye. "my reputation and interests are worth more than Lucas’ life?"

Samuel was stunned for a moment, twitching his mouth. Finally, he couldn't hold back and burst into laughter.

Oliver squinted his eyes, feeling inexplicably puzzled.

Oliver thought, ‘Why was he suddenly laughing? What's wrong with him? And it seems like he's laughing at me.’

"Oliver, are you really that insecure?" Samuel's eyes sparkled with untimely amusement. "The arrogant and unyielding Mr. Windsor said something like that. If people outside heard it, they'd be shocked."

Oliver looked at Samuel impatiently. "You really are Natalie's brother. Why do you talk so much?"

"Oliver, I'm trying to enlighten you!" Samuel restrained his laughter, habitually trying to pat Oliver on the shoulder, but Oliver disdainfully brushed his hand away.

Samuel pouted but didn't mind. "Oliver, it's fine if you look down on yourself. But you can't look down on my sister's feelings for you, right?"

Under normal circumstances, Oliver would have retorted with. "Who's your sister? Natalie doesn't acknowledge you." But now, Oliver's attention was caught by Samuel's last few words.

Oliver waited for Samuel to continue.

"Lucas is indeed important, but so is your reputation. If she knew you got hurt trying to save someone she cares about, she would feel more guilty than if she were hurt herself. It's not because she doesn't want to trouble others or because she doesn't want her issues to affect others. This guilt comes from her care. Because that person is you. Do you understand, Oliver?" Samuel smiled, looking at Oliver with a hint of envy. "In just two short years, you've managed to catch up to Lucas’ place in Natalie's heart."

The next day, a subordinate brought news. "Mr. Windsor and Mr. Hastings, Susan has been taken by someone else."

"Who?" Oliver and Samuel changed their faces instantly.

"We haven't found out yet. It's not a force we're familiar with."

"Keep looking!" Oliver's tone was like an impending storm. He turned to Samuel and asked, "What about Helen Corporation?"

It was clear that due to Helen's recent troubles, Oliver planned to settle all scores together and take action against Helen.

"The Hastings family estate." Samuel hesitated several times. Although Helen was muddle-headed and even cruel and Samuel didn't like her much, she was still his mother.

No matter how much he disliked her, he didn't want anyone to treat Helen as a plaything.

Protecting their own was probably a trait of the Hastings family.

"Oliver, no matter what, she is Natalie's biological mother." Samuel wanted to hold Oliver back but remembered that Oliver was notoriously particular and didn't like being touched by anyone, except Natalie.

Oliver looked terrifying, mocking, "Mother? She doesn't deserve it."

Indeed, Helen didn't.

Even Samuel, her biological son, couldn't bring himself to say, "Whether she deserves it or not, Helen is Natalie's biological mother."

That would almost insult the title of "mother".

"Calm down." Samuel handed Oliver a cigarette.

Oliver gave Samuel a cold look and reluctantly accepted Samuel's words after a couple of seconds, taking the cigar from his hand and lighting it.

The nicotine numbed his nerves, calming his agitated emotions.

Oliver called Jamie, who was in Paykston protecting Natalie. "Check Susan's identity again, starting from twenty-five years ago. Don't overlook any possible connections!"
