Chapter 1072 Enjoying Wealth Through Children
The food had already been taken out of the insulated containers and placed on the coffee table in the living room, filling the air with a rich aroma.
Jane belatedly felt the hunger in her stomach and unconsciously quickened her pace.
Since Emerald Gardens delivered the meal, which wasn't very convenient, there weren't many dishes.
Considering Jane's cravings, Billy had specially prepared an extra serving of sponge cake.
Jane's appetite was piqued, and she finally forgot the rich meat aroma she had smelled at the restaurant.
"Why are you staring at me? Do I have food on my face?" Jane asked halfway through her meal, noticing that Anthony hadn't eaten much and was almost glued to her with his eyes.
"You're beautiful," Anthony said, without hiding his true thoughts.
Jane was so startled that her cutlery shook, thinking she had misheard. "Anthony, did that high-paid, idle planning team of yours come up with this idea of saying sweet nothings?"
Anthony was puzzled for a moment but quickly understood that complimenting her counted as sweet talk.
She had always said he was bad at sweet talk.
Now it seemed, it wasn't that hard after all.
Jane thought it was the planning team's idea and didn't take it to heart. Instead, she taught him, "You shouldn't just say I'm beautiful; you should say I'm 'a feast for the eyes.' That planning team of yours isn't very good."
Anthony silently noted. 'A feast for the eyes.'
Jane didn't eat much and soon put down her utensils, continuing to talk to Anthony, "Honestly, you should disband that planning team and give me the money. I'll give you ideas."
That planning team's existence was too embarrassing!
Luckily, Jane had asked Clint today, and the planning team's work wasn't public; only a small number of people knew about it. Otherwise, she wouldn't want to show up in this building.
Anthony pulled out a black card and handed it to Jane.
Anthony said, "Didn't you want their salary? Here's a perpetual one."
Perpetual meant endless.
Jane's goal was to disband that planning team, not to take Anthony's money.
"No." Jane pushed the card back to Anthony, "I have my own money."
Anthony wanted to say something, but Jane continued, "Although I don't have as much money as you, that doesn't mean I need to spend yours."
Anthony had nothing to say.
When it came to verbal skills, except for kissing, he had never won against Jane.
Jane had spent a day at the company and lost interest in the concrete high-rises. In the following days, no matter how Anthony coaxed her, she refused to accompany him to work.
She was a freelancer; why would she want to experience the pain of a desk job?
Seeing that she was really unwilling, Anthony didn't force her.
Every day, there were deliveries from malls or private brands to Emerald Gardens.
Sometimes, Anthony bought clothes, jewelry, and various small gifts for Jane, even though she said she wouldn't accept them. These actions didn't stop Anthony from continuously buying.
Sometimes, Anthony bought baby products for their future child, from large baby furniture to small baby toys. Although Jane wasn't interested in the gifts Anthony gave her, she was very attentive to the things for their future child.
First and foremost, the aesthetics had to be up to par.
Anything that didn't look good was returned and replaced.
"Anthony, can you stop buying dark-colored things to harm your future child's eyes?" Jane couldn't stand the things Anthony bought and felt it was necessary to talk to him.
Anthony looked puzzled, as if wondering, "Is there something wrong with these things?" But seeing Jane's deeply disdainful look, he suggested, "Why don't you buy them?"
Jane was about to agree when she suddenly sensed something was off. "Anthony, I feel like you're setting a trap for me."
"How am I setting a trap?" Anthony propped his chin with one hand, looking at Jane with great interest.
"These baby furniture and baby products, you wouldn't just buy them carelessly to appease me, would you? Are you actually trying to make me put in the effort?" The more Jane thought about it, the more it made sense. "You have a lifestyle secretary. Even if your taste is bad, the secretary's isn't."
In fact, Anthony's taste wasn't bad; he just didn't quite understand women's aesthetics.
"Do you want the secretary to know about your pregnancy?" Anthony asked.
Of course, Jane didn't.
Even though Anthony's secretaries and assistants were trusted confidants, Jane didn't want anyone to know about her and Anthony's premarital pregnancy.
"Alright." Jane pouted. "Stop buying things. I'll handle the rest."
Returning items and reselecting them would only increase Jane's workload. It was better for her to handle it from the start.
A smile flashed in Anthony's eyes.
Jane probably hadn't realized that she had gone from rejecting the child in her womb to now being willing to personally prepare for the child. This was the result Anthony had been planning and hoping for all along.
After all, if this child couldn't capture Jane's heart, then the child was useless.
Although Emerald Gardens covered a large area, there were only a few households, and the frequent deliveries naturally caught the attention of other residents.
Ava, while walking with other wealthy ladies, happened to see a high-end brand specializing in mother and baby products entering Jane's villa.
Last time it was women's clothing, this time it was mother and baby products, which was even more shocking.
"Could Jane be pregnant?" someone exclaimed.
Previously, Ava had seen Jane, and the news had spread within the small circle of Emerald Gardens. Everyone knew that the best villa in the area was occupied by Jane.
"No way, so soon?"
"Hahaha, what do you mean no way? Are you questioning Mr. Clark's abilities in that regard?"
"Don't accuse me! Mr. Clark's physique looks very impressive!"
"Seriously though, if Jane is really pregnant, she's so lucky. She was pampered by Jovan in the first half of her life, and now she can enjoy wealth through her child."
"Whether she can enjoy wealth through her child is still uncertain. Who knows if she's carrying a son or a daughter."
"That's true."
The group chatted and laughed, but they all reached a consensus that Jane was very likely pregnant.
Ava suddenly had a thought. 'Does Ann know that Jane is carrying Anthony's child?'
Although it was rumored in the circle that Ann didn't like Jane, what grandmother wouldn't like her grandchild?
