Chapter 1051 Offending Jane Watkins, Ruining the Whole Family
The Stewart family was currently overwhelmed with stress. Madeline was being scolded by the Stewart family members. Her doting parents were too busy dealing with the company to comfort her. The Stewart family might even face bankruptcy and debt; it was as bad as it could possible get.
Someone immediately typed out an old saying in the circle: "Mess with Jane Watkins, and you'll ruin your whole family."
So, someone secretly asked Jane if she knew about this matter. They actually wanted to know if the Stewart family's misfortune had anything to do with her.
Jane confirmed she hadn't taken any action, but someone else might have.
"Anthony." Jane turned her head to look at Anthony. "Was it you who did this to the Stewart family?"
Anthony responded affirmatively.
Jane wasn't surprised; this was Anthony's style.
"Don't do these things for me anymore." Jane looked out the window. "It's useless."
Anthony was driving and only glanced at Jane from the corner of his eye.
It wasn't until the car stopped at the hospital entrance that he spoke.
"Jane, my reach doesn't extend overseas for now."
"What?" Jane didn't understand what Anthony was saying and thought she hadn't heard him clearly.
"The Stewart family's overseas market expansion had been smooth, but they suddenly suffered a major setback. Guess why?" Anthony placed one hand on the steering wheel. Despite his usual serious expression, he gave off a sense of confidence.
Jane had a gut feeling that Anthony was trying to remind her of something.
In an instant, Jane thought of something—Jovan! If Jovan knew what Madeline had done to her, he definitely wouldn't stand by and do nothing!
Jane looked at Anthony for a few seconds, then lowered her head to check her phone, trying to find news and reasons related to the Stewart family's overseas setback.
Soon, Jane found it: [The Richardson family's private jet crashed, and the head of the family is suspected to be seriously injured and in a coma.]
The head of the Richardson family was none other than Ainslee!
And Jovan was working for Ainslee, and it seemed like they had a particularly good relationship.
"Jovan, It's Jovan!" Jane clutched Anthony's arm like a drowning person grabbing a lifeline, "Is my brother okay? He's safe, right? He... Anthony Clark, how is my brother?"
When she saw the plane crash news, Jane's heart sank. Plane crashes were often fatal.
As the highest-ranking person in the Richardson family, Ainslee's seat should be the safest. If a crash occurred, the people on the plane would prioritize protecting his life.
If Ainslee was seriously injured and in a coma, and if Jovan was really with Ainslee...
"Jane." Anthony didn't comfort Jane but looked at her calmly, reminding her, "Didn't you want to go to the hospital?"
It felt like a bucket of cold water poured down from above.
Jane felt a chill run through her body, even her fingertips felt cold.
Jane looked at Anthony with disbelief. "Are you threatening me?"
"Jane, you know I don't do charity." Anthony always had a purpose and something to gain in his actions.
If he had nothing to gain, getting anything from Anthony would require an equivalent exchange.
Jane clenched her fists tightly, her mind filled with the image of the hospital behind her. She stared at Anthony, vaguely realizing that she might not make it to the operating table today.
"What do you want?" Jane asked, unwilling to give up.
Anthony's lips curled into an almost imperceptible smile. He leaned towards Jane, tucking her loose hair behind her ear, clearly feeling her body's stiffness and resistance, as well as the anger in her eyes.
Angry? So what if she was angry?
"Jane, you're so smart. You know what I want." Anthony's voice was low, like a lover's whisper.
Jane took a shallow breath, closed her eyes, trying to control her emotions, as if making a difficult decision. "You want a child, right?"
Anthony didn't deny it.
"Fine, I'll keep the child for you." Jane said, "But what can you give me? News about whether my brother is alive or dead? Anthony Clark, just that isn't worth me spending a year bearing a child for you."
As Jane spoke, Anthony instinctively glanced at her flat stomach.
He answered, "If he's safe, I'll tell you immediately. If he needs any help, I'll use all my overseas resources."
Anthony's voice was always cold and hard, but this time there was a hint of confusion. "Jane, you can only cooperate with me now."
On the way back to the hotel from the hospital, Jane was unusually silent. Only when she heard Anthony on the phone with Clint, asking Clint to immediately check on Jovan's situation, did her emotions show any fluctuation.
The Bentley, which had been out for less than two hours, returned to the hotel.
"Where do you want to go next?" Anthony didn't rush to get out of the car and patiently asked Jane, "You don't like my family and Southvale, so we don't have to go there. Do you want to go back to Paykston?"
His accommodating tone suggested that if Jane wanted to go to the moon, Anthony would find a way to make it happen.
"Aren't you afraid that if I go back to Paykston, I'll get Oliver Windsor to deal with you?" Jane half-jokingly smiled.
Given Jane's relationship with Natalie, she indeed had the leverage to ask Oliver to take action against Anthony.
Anthony wasn't the least bit worried. "You wouldn't do that. Jane, if you were willing to trouble Natalie Watson, you would have done it already."
Anthony knew Jane too well. She had high standards for herself, was very independent, and cherished her valued friendships.
To Jane, Natalie and Flora were different from other friends. She knew that if she asked, Natalie and Flora would go to any lengths to help her, standing by her side no matter what. Therefore, she was also worried that asking for their help would disrupt their peaceful lives, put them in a difficult position, and drag them into her troubles.
Jane glared at Anthony, clearly displeased that he had seen through her so easily.
"Alright, the doctor said pregnant women should try to maintain a good mood." Anthony patted Jane's head and asked her again, "Do you want to go back to Paykston?"
She wanted to, but she couldn't.
Paykston wasn't too small, but it wasn't too big either.
Most importantly, too many people knew Jane there. If she went for prenatal check-ups, it would be easy for people to see her, and once her belly grew, it would be impossible to hide.
Going back to Paykston would mean that Natalie and Flora would already know half of the truth, and it couldn't be hidden.
"No." After a long while, Jane finally spoke, "Let's go to Southvale."
Anthony was so surprised that he paused for half a second. "Don't you dislike it?"
Anthony had thought of several cities in advance, even considering Jane's former favorites, Dawnstar and Joyville, preparing to buy a house there so they could move in directly.
"Of course." Anthony was now almost granting Jane's every wish.
Jane looked out the window, her expression listless.
