Chapter 1031 Supporter

The staff, being very perceptive, quickly sized up Madeline and Alexandra, then focused on Jane's right wrist, reminding Madeline, "Miss, Ms. Watkins' bracelet is a worldwide limited edition worth over hundreds of thousands of dollars."

Alexandra and Madeline were stunned, then their eyes all fixed on Jane's wrist.

It was indeed the globally limited edition that caused quite a stir recently, one that money couldn't buy.

Jealousy almost overflowed from Madeline's eyes, her face clearly saying, "I want it."

"I wonder that which man may gave it to her." Alexandra quickly reacted, "With Ms. Watkins' current status, she doesn't even qualify to touch this bracelet."

Madeline calmed down, she touched her hair and looked at Jane as if she were something dirty. "It's true. After all, Ms. Watkins has a pretty face, and there are plenty of married men who like her. I just wonder if the man who gave her this gift has a son almost our age."

They were mocking Jane for tricking old men into spending money on her.

Jane touched the bracelet on her wrist and didn't immediately refute, as it was indeed a gift from someone else.

"I hit the mark, so you can't refute?" Madeline's face showed a victorious smile, and she said to the staff, "Put the name Madeline Stewart on the painting Jane just chose!"

Jane's left hand moved away from her right wrist. She was still looking at Madeline as if she were an idiot. "If you had looked at the invitation before the exhibition, you would know that these paintings are a two-way selection, and the author can refuse the buyer."

"Would anyone refuse to have their work bought? Jane Watkins, stop pretending!" Madeline dismissed.

Jane took out her phone, ready to make a call, when she suddenly heard a slight commotion not far away.

Then the sound of wheelchairs approached.

Anthony was tall, even sitting in a wheelchair. He had an imposing figure, with chiseled features, deep-set eyes, a cold demeanor, and a natural fierceness.

"What are you doing here?" Jane looked at Anthony in surprise.

Anthony was being pushed by a bodyguard, too lazy to move himself, and looked at Jane from six or seven feet away. "Jane, you've been at this exhibition for nearly three hours. Are you counting the floor tiles?"

Anthony didn't seem in a good mood. "Is this how you take care of me?"

Unlike other idle socialites and rich second generations at the exhibition, Anthony had real power in his hands, standing on equal footing with many of the elders present. His appearance drew immediate attention.

Some people were initially unsure if this was the Anthony from the Clark family in Southvale. But when they heard him call Jane, they confirmed.

"He is Anthony," they muttered.

The exhibition attendees quietly moved closer.

The scene was far more interesting than the exhibition.

Jane was indeed the center of attention wherever she went.

"Mr. Clark..."

Madeline and Alexandra were both stunned, especially hearing Anthony speak to Jane so familiarly.

'Why is Anthony here!' Madeline thought.

The bodyguard pushing the wheelchair whispered something in Anthony's ear. Then Anthony's gaze suddenly turned cold, directed at Madeline and Alexandra.

"The bracelet on Jane's wrist, I gave it to her. If you can convince Jane to marry me and have my child, your theory might barely hold."

"Mr. Clark, I didn't. I wasn't..." Madeline panicked.

Madeline never imagined that the bracelet was from Anthony, nor that Anthony would so openly stand up for Jane and say something so suggestive.

'Isn't this saying that Anthony wants to marry Jane but Jane doesn't want to? Isn't this elevating Jane's status?

'Jane has no right or leverage to refuse this marriage. Does she think she is still the same Ms. Watkins as before?' Madeline thought.

Madeline looked to Alexandra for help.

Alexandra, being very shrewd, pretended not to notice Madeline's look. She tried to minimize her presence, hoping that Anthony wouldn't target her.

Unfortunately, Anthony wouldn't let anyone off.

Anthony looked at Alexandra. "Here comes her supporter. What do you want to do?"

Alexandra was terrified, never expecting that a casual remark would reach Anthony.

"I..."

"What?" Anthony's gaze was calm but carried immense pressure, as if she said anything wrong, he would tear her apart.

"I didn't mean anything. Mr. Clark misunderstood." Alexandra tried to smile, but it looked worse than crying.

Jane was used to people who fawned on the powerful and bullied the weak, so she wasn't surprised by Alexandra and Madeline's reactions.

Jane followed her original plan, pulled out her phone, and made a call. After a few seconds, the phone call was answered.

Jane only said, "I want to buy two of your paintings." Then she hung up.

Soon, the staff received instructions through their earpiece, interrupting, "Ms. Stewart, we regret to inform you that the author of the two works you wish to purchase has just contacted us and stated that Ms. Watkins has the first right of choice. In other words, if Ms. Watkins wants to buy his works, no one else can compete with her."

"How could this be?" Madeline looked even more dumbfounded than when she saw Anthony.

The onlookers naturally thought of the brief call Jane had just made.

Jane raised her eyebrows slightly and shook her phone. "The artist is my friend."

Jane looked innocent. "Didn't I remind you to look at the invitation?"

People thought, 'If the artist is your friend, you could have just asked for a painting or bought one privately. Why are you coming to the exhibition to buy?'

They couldn't understand Jane's way of thinking.

Madeline looked devastated, standing there as if questioning her life, with deep reluctance in her heart.

Madeline now realized that even if Anthony hadn't come, she wouldn't have won against Jane today.

Many people only remembered that Jane had made many enemies in the circle back then, but in fact, Jane also had friends all over the world in various fields.

Jane seemed to have a special magic. With just one word, countless people would willingly do things for her.

"Jane, have you chosen the paintings?" Anthony urged, tapping his fingers on the wheelchair's armrest.

Jane nodded and paid the order to the staff.

"Mr. Clark, you're not doing a good job of pursuing a lady. How can you let her pay?" A rich second generation who knew Anthony teased.

Anthony didn't look at the person and said, "If I pay for her, she'll get mad at me."
Married to an Ugly Husband? No!
