Chapter 837 You Almost Killed Your Own Daughter!
"That was just Natalie's bad luck to encounter an elevator malfunction! What does it have to do with me whether she and her unborn child live or die? It's all because she has done so many bad things, causing my daughter to suffer. And you, Oliver! You made my daughter suffer, and now it's all coming back to Natalie and your child!"
Taking advantage of Natalie's concern for Lucas, Helen aimed to emotionally destabilize Natalie. Knowing that Natalie was smart, she forged a fake hospital transfer certificate to make her lies more believable. This had completely fooled Natalie.
"Mom!" Samuel's expression darkened at this moment, clearly dissatisfied and disapproving of Helen's actions.
"Samuel, you're Susan's brother, why don't you help her? When did you become so indifferent? Have you seen what your sister has become? Do you know how pitiful she is now, how much she has suffered in prison?" Helen cried, "Samuel, you really disappoint me so much!"
"What if Natalie were your daughter? What if Natalie were my real sister?" Samuel retorted calmly yet chillingly to Helen.
Helen was stunned. After a pause, she asked in confusion, "What did you just say?"
"I said, the Susan in prison isn't the real Susan. She's not your daughter, nor my biological sister. Natalie is. She should be the real Susan, the daughter of the Hastings family," Samuel repeated slowly and clearly.
Helen was shocked to see that Oliver and his assistant showed no surprise at all; they were very calm, as if they had known about this matter for a long time.
"How's this possible?" Helen panicked, wanting to reach out and grab Samuel's hand for clarification, but her body was restrained by two bodyguards, so she could not move an inch. She yelled, "Samuel, what are you talking about? Susan is your sister, how can you side with Natalie?"
Samuel faced his stubborn mother and said bluntly, "If Susan really were my biological sister, do you think I would ignore her? If Natalie weren't my sister, why do you think I haven't made things difficult for her, unlike the rest of you?"
Samuel closed his eyes and declared, "Mom, you almost killed your own daughter!"
Not just that, but Helen almost killed her more than once.
"No! You lied to me!" Helen shook her head frantically. "Samuel, are you lying to me? Tell me the truth, did you make a deal with Oliver? How could Natalie, that woman, be my daughter? I feel disgusted just looking at her face; it makes me sick! She definitely isn't my daughter, it's impossible!"
Suddenly, a hard slap landed on Helen's face.
A female bodyguard who accompanied Oliver took action. One of Oliver's orders to her was to uphold Natalie's dignity and honor.
Regarding the woman who described Natalie as disgusting, she did not need any command from Oliver to act. She directly approached Helen and delivered two sharp slaps to the face. As for the relationship between Helen and Natalie, whether they shared any blood relation or not, and whether Natalie might cause future trouble, these concerns were irrelevant to her.
Helen, taken aback, looked at the female bodyguard in disbelief and then at her son, who showed no intention of defending her. Suddenly, a wave of fear washed over her. Her own son did not protect her. Also, the possibility that Natalie, whom she despised, might be her biological daughter terrified her.
'How did it come to this?' she thought to herself in despair.
"Samuel, for Natalie's sake, I'm giving you a chance to take her back with you and lock her up," Oliver stated coldly, eyeing Samuel, "This is your last chance. Next time, I'll send her to jail to join Susan."
Originally, Oliver intended to call the police and have Helen sent directly to jail, but he hesitated due to the blood relationship between Natalie and Helen.
"Helen, consider this as repaying the favor you did by giving birth to Natalie. In the future, please be mindful of your words and actions!"
With those words, Oliver departed with Jamie.
As soon as they left, Helen stood frozen. Her blood ran cold, her body chilled by the unfolding events.
…
Meanwhile, Natalie sat in a wheelchair, appearing haggard yet composed. One hand rested gently on her abdomen, while the other gripped the wheelchair's handle tightly, her knuckles whitening with the force.
She looked up as Oliver suddenly opened the door, her expression blank but her eyes surged with intense, complex emotions, adding to her vulnerability.
"Why did you bring her out of the ward?"
Oliver approached swiftly, his gaze cold and angry as he addressed the nurse pushing the wheelchair.
The nurse felt powerless. Due to Natalie's noble status and her own humble position, she dared not defy Natalie's orders.
Natalie, still weak and not suitable for walking, had been brought over in a wheelchair by the nurse, who assumed there must have been something urgent to prompt Natalie's insistence on leaving the room. However, the nurse could not have anticipated that upon their arrival, they would overhear such startling revelations through the slightly ajar door of the meeting room—Susan was not a child of the Hastings family; Natalie was.
Oliver shielded Natalie from the view inside the meeting room, positioning himself in front of her. He bent down and gently stroked her hair, soothingly saying, "Natalie, I'll take you back."
"Oliver, I heard you," Natalie replied, her face upturned and marked by a serene expression. Her calmness was almost unnerving.
"Is it true?" she asked simply.
Oliver hesitated, his silence heavy, as if weighing his words carefully.
"Is it true? You promised me you wouldn't lie to me again, Oliver. Don't break your word. If you lie, I won't trust you anymore," Natalie pressed, her voice steady yet edged with determination. She was nearly convinced, yet sought unequivocal confirmation.
"It's true," Oliver finally responded, crouching down to meet her gaze, "But Natalie, the most important person to you is me, not anyone else."
He implied that she should not dwell on those who had been unkind to her, suggesting she focus on their relationship instead.
Samuel and Helen emerged from the meeting room shortly after, with Samuel leading and Helen trailing.
Natalie's eyes briefly met Samuel’s; his hesitant, almost startled look was obvious
"Let's go," Natalie turned away, speaking quietly to Oliver, "I don't want to see them."
Her voice was resolute.
Upon her words, Oliver nodded to Jamie, who was nearby, and began to push Natalie’s wheelchair back toward her hospital room.
Jamie intercepted Samuel and Helen as they attempted to follow.
"Samuel, Helen, please wait a moment."
"Why?" Samuel paused, his concern evident. He still wanted to see Natalie, to speak to her directly, to ask about her health. Only with that would he be able to feel at ease.
