Chapter 1089 Jane, Don't Be Shy
"Alright, today's meeting is over." Jane decisively chose to end the video call immediately.
The studio employees were naturally reluctant, "Jane, don't be shy! We haven't even seen what your boyfriend looks like!"
"Shy, my foot!! He's ugly and can't be seen. Get back to work!" Before she finished speaking, Jane had already hung up the video call and let out a heavy sigh of relief.
When she looked up again, she met Anthony's amused gaze, making her heart flutter. "Why are you looking at me like that?"
Anthony withdrew his gaze, but his smile didn't fade completely. "Nothing."
"Anthony, do you think I'm easy to fool?" Jane said while thinking, 'Your expression clearly says otherwise!'
Anthony closed Jane's laptop, helped her up by the waist, and led her towards the dining room. "You should drink your vegetable soup."
"Anthony, you're changing the subject. And you're really bad at it!" Jane added, "Next time I'm in a video meeting, don't mess around. I don't mess around when you're working."
"You can mess around if you want," he said.
"I won't." Jane rolled her eyes. "I'm not as bored and childish as you."
Jane slightly tilted her chin up, looking all mature and sensible.
Anthony's eyes quickly flashed with amusement.
In fact, Jane had already messed around before. Anthony had paused or even skipped meetings more than once because of her.
Although Jane seemed to have won this verbal spar, she always had the feeling that Anthony was letting her win, which made her feel uneasy.
She took a sip of the vegetable soup and immediately frowned. "Today's vegetable soup doesn't taste good."
That spoiled look was just like back in the day.
Anthony was momentarily lost in thought. This was the Jane he wanted to protect, he hoped she could stay youthful forever.
"I'll have someone buy it fresh tomorrow," Anthony said.
Jane held the spoon to her lips, looked up at Anthony in surprise and said, "You trust me that easily? Aren't you going to check if I'm just making it up?"
"Jane, are you making it up?" Anthony leaned back in his chair, smiling leisurely. Unlike the pampered rich kids of Paykston, his features were handsome and his demeanor was both noble and rugged, making him especially charming when he smiled.
"Of course not." Jane quickly lowered her eyes, feeling a bit flustered.
For a moment, she actually thought Anthony was so handsome that it made her heart skip a beat.
Jane didn't like the vegetable soup, so she set it aside after a few sips and started eating the pastries Billy made.
After a while, Jane's phone suddenly rang.
It was a call from the studio.
"Hello..." Jane said.
"Ah! Jane, thank your boyfriend for us! It's the first time in my life I've had Michelin afternoon tea, I'm so honored!"
"What the heck?" Jane was completely confused.
The studio employee representative calmed down a bit. "Jane, didn't you know? Your boyfriend sent us Michelin afternoon tea, with generous portions and a wide variety! He said he's too ugly to be seen, but he had to send a gift. We ate in one afternoon what would cost me a month's salary!"
Too ugly to be seen? That sounded familiar.
"My boyfrie..." Jane realized and looked at the self-proclaimed "ugly" Anthony.
It was the weekend, and Anthony didn't need to be at the company. He was standing not far from Jane, holding a tablet.
He immediately noticed Jane's gaze and looked over.
Jane hung up the phone and tilted her head to ask him, "Mr. Clark, may I ask when I got a boyfriend? How come I don't know about it?"
Anthony wasn't surprised she found out so quickly. "Whenever you want one, you can have one."
He was hinting at her again.
"Jane, you know what I mean." Seeing Jane's silence and her pretending not to understand, Anthony decided to be direct.
