Chapter 682 Infamous Husband
The man, usually shielded by an aura that seemed to keep others at bay, let down his armor in front of the woman. “Together forever, just the two of us,” the screen captured their moment, a real-life portrayal.
The couples who were used to flaunting their own relationships suddenly felt a sense of fullness from being fed a dose of love, almost to the point of being overstuffed. The host found the man intriguing and continued to probe, “And what do you think is your wife’s biggest flaw?” Oliver thought for a moment.
“You can’t say she doesn’t have any flaws,” the host interjected. “Couples need to be honest with each other. Everyone has flaws, and acknowledging them is the first step to addressing them, right? Your wife seems like a gentle person. Just say anything, am I right, ma’am?” Suddenly called upon, Natalie nodded, waiting to hear Oliver’s response.
“Her flaw,” Oliver said, “is that she’s too popular.”
"Wow, too popular? Does that mean she's too popular with the opposite sex? Seems like you have a lot of rivals, sir," the host commented, intrigued.
Natalie gave Oliver a look, implying that he wasn't one to talk—with no shortage of admirers himself!
Oliver added, "Girls too." Natalie was left speechless at his brazen remark, as laughter and teasing erupted from the crowd around them.
"I have one final question for this lady..." The host's words were only halfway out when Natalie suddenly felt her mask loosening. She reached up to adjust it, but in a clumsy twist of fate, the mask came off entirely.
With a smack, the mask hit the ground.
Natalie's exquisitely noble features were fully displayed on the big screen; her beautiful eyes widened in shock, then a flicker of panic flashed through them before she quickly composed herself.
"Natalie?!"
"Is that Natalie?"
"It really looks like her... Let's get closer and see for ourselves!"
The couples' event at the amusement park was mostly attended by young people, the driving force of Instagram traffic, who had Natalie's unique and stunning face firmly etched in their memories, especially since she had been in the spotlight frequently, trending online as frequently as top-tier celebrities.
Upon hearing people talking nearby, Natalie quickly grabbed Oliver's hand and started running forward.
By the time people's slow reactions caught up with their brains, Natalie, still holding Oliver's hand, had dashed to the outskirts of the square. She managed to remind the staff on her way out, "Stay safe! Watch out for a stampede!"
"Why are we running?" Oliver, pulled along by Natalie, was confused but went with the flow.
"We have to run now, or we'll be chased down. After that, leaving won't be an option," Natalie explained while running.
Oliver, with his long legs and consistent exercise routine, found running effortless and even looked back to see what was happening.
Sure enough, a throng of people were following them, swarming like cheetahs after syrup. The amusement park staff in the area, who were short-handed and inexperienced with crowd control, could only use megaphones to caution safety while watching the young couples sprint ahead.
The rest of the visitors, witnessing this scene, were baffled, but getting into the thick of things was a common thrill.
"What are they chasing? What's going on?"
While I have no idea, I want to see, too!
Countless eyes were fixed on Oliver and Natalie, both sporting white embroidered shirts and both tall, especially Oliver, who stood out in a crowd; toward the sky, his distinguished head was unmistakably the highest point.
Unable to shake off the growing crowd, the chase became intense. It was impossible to continue playing around the park, so Natalie decisively led Oliver towards the exit. At the same time, Oliver called Jamie, asking him to arrange for support to manage the scene and prevent a stampede.
Tourists followed them all the way to the exit, where they were stopped by a group of well-trained bodyguards, while the park’s staff reminded everyone that once they passed this exit, they couldn't come back in. This discouraged most from continuing the chase. A few pursued outside the park, but by that time, Natalie and Oliver had already driven off.
Panting heavily, Natalie sank into the car seat. Although she exercised regularly, the combination of an intense, long-distance run and the stress had left her exhausted.
"Water?" Oliver offered a bottle of water, unscrewing the cap and handing it to Natalie.
She sipped and caught her breath, then stared at Oliver as if he were some kind of monster. "Aren't you tired?" She was astonished that he, having run the same distance at the same pace, seemed not even slightly winded.
"You should know my stamina," Oliver raised an eyebrow, teasingly.
Natalie fell silent. She knew she shouldn't have brought it up.
Dissatisfied with her silence—whether genuinely or feigned—Oliver made it a point to demonstrate his endurance to Natalie that evening, leaving no doubt about his physical capabilities.
Natalie had originally planned to scroll through Instagram after the incident with the masks at the amusement park to see if the story would hit the internet. She was just a model, not a celebrity; she thought maybe it probably wouldn't spread... right? She couldn't quite convince herself.
"Oliver, check my phone..." Post-encounter, Natalie lay weakened, still preoccupied with the thought.
"I thought you were tired, but maybe I was mistaken," Oliver propped himself up with a smirk. "Mrs. Windsor, playing on your phone isn't as fun as playing with your husband."
Who was playing whom? Natalie felt defeated, but the man in question gave her no chance to refute. Eventually, she was so worn out that she couldn't bother about her phone anymore.
The next day, Natalie woke up and to her surprise, her name wasn't in the top three trending topics. On closer inspection, she saw that the number one trending topic was "mine."
Something about it seemed disconcertingly familiar. Natalie clicked on it and found it was a video shared by a marketing account, a clip of her and Oliver still in masks, and in it, when the host asked Oliver to describe her, he'd simply said, "Mine."
The comments had exploded, with the top comment being a string of emojis expressing excitement, followed by the second most popular comment.
Second most popular comment: [So, who are you?]
Buzzed Third: [Natalie Tied the Knot Again?]
Witty netizens quickly latched on to the key point. Natalie felt numb both in expression and emotion at the time.
The tag about her personal life, "Natalie's Amusement Park Date," was ranked eighteenth on the trending searches. It had been over seven hours since it was first posted. No wonder it wasn't in the top three.
The buzz about the incident continued to climb. Around ten o'clock in the morning, as the late-sleeping young crowd woke up, more and more people began posting photos.
User A: [I was lucky to be at the amusement park yesterday and thought this couple looked amazing! Both were tall and slim with impeccable style, and you could tell they were good-looking even without seeing their faces. They were even wearing matching outfits. It turns out it was Natalie!]
The photo uploaded by this user showed the backs of Natalie and Oliver. The poor lighting at night and the low quality of the phone's noise reduction made the image grainy, but you could still see a tall man and woman both wearing caps and white shirts patterned with bird motifs. It was an undeniably charming picture.
User B: [I was there and didn't get a photo, but I saw Natalie and her rumored boyfriend holding hands the whole time. All I want to say is, I was silently hit in the face with their display of affection.]
Comments followed with someone saying, "Sis! It's not a rumored boyfriend, it's a rumored husband! They've! Got! Married!"
User C: [At the scene +1, I can say Natalie is truly gorgeous and has such a presence! She seems like an ice queen but speaks and acts so kindly! She even cautioned the staff to be safe to prevent any stampede accidents. Sister is so wonderful!]
This prompted a flood of comments: [Sister is wonderful!] [Natalie is wonderful!]
But since when did Natalie, a model, have fan clubs managing her public relations?
Others remarked that after a moment of chaos with Natalie at the scene; it had resulted in minor injuries to some guests, while those with more severe injuries had been taken to the hospital. She ended up with just a bruise, which was quite embarrassing.
A bunch of cryptic comments also filled the thread.
[szd!]
[kswl!]
"szd," meant "It's true."
"kswl," was shorthand for, "I'm dying of excitement."
