Chapter 961: The Top Socialite

Jane used to be very popular, but she also made quite a few enemies. However, Jane always felt that some of the grudges against her were quite undeserved.

They were all part of the same social circle. Although the Watkins family was based in Paykston and the Lopez family was in the South, they still saw each other several times a year.

For instance, Shirley once attended the same party as Jane, and they wore the same dress.

Wearing the same dress wasn’t scary but it was embarrassing if you looked worse.

Whenever Jane wore the same dress as someone else, it was always the other person who ended up embarrassed.

Coincidentally, at another annual event, Shirley and Jane wore the same dress again.

Some busybodies kept praising how stunning Jane looked in her high-end gown, while Shirley looked quite ordinary in comparison.

That was how the grudge between Shirley and Jane started.

As for Joe, it was even simpler. He pursued Jane but was rejected, so he turned his attention to Natalie, who often accompanied Jane. Joe thought Natalie was beautiful but felt her illegitimate status made her unworthy. He believed winning her over would be a piece of cake.

Joe's pursuit of Natalie was so obnoxious and disrespectful that Jane couldn't hold back and beat him up. When the Green family came to trouble Jane, Jovan taught Joe another lesson.

Before Aurora and her so-called friends arrived, Jane seriously reflected on her past actions.

She wondered if she would have fewer troubles now if she had been more restrained back then.

After much thought, she concluded that what she had thought didn’t make sense.

‘I do nothing wrong!’ Jane pondered.

‘Making Shirley feel embarrassed is because I’m beautiful with a great aura. Being too excellent isn’t my fault! As for Joe, he deserved it for being so disgusting in his pursuit. Defending Natalie isn’t my fault either!’ Jane was lost in thoughts.

When Ann faced Jane, she showed disdain.

But in front of Aurora, she was gentle, kind, and considerate. Even before Aurora officially joined the Clark family, Ann agreed to let Aurora entertain her friends at their home and instructed the servants to fully cooperate.

"Aurora, are you about to give birth? Oh my, that's so fast. I don't even have a boyfriend yet, but you're already having a baby," Shirley exclaimed.

"Yes, it's been over seven months," Aurora replied.

"Aurora, Mrs. Clark is so good to you. I'm really jealous you found such a great mother-in-law," Shirley added.

"Ann is indeed very kind to me," Aurora answered.

"You liked Mr. Clark since high school. Now you two are finally together. Congratulations!" Joe cheered for Aurora’s happiness.

"I never thought I'd marry Anthony one day."

As Jane approached the garden entrance, she heard the harmonious laughter and blessings inside.

Aurora had only mentioned Shirley and Joe, but there were more people than just those two, including heirs from several other families in Allentown.

The moment Jane appeared, the laughter inside abruptly stopped.

Dozens of eyes turned to look at her.

It was as if Jane had come to crash the party.

"What's she doing here?"

"Is that really Jane Watkins?"

"Aurora, Jane is really at your house!"

A burst of comments could be heard.

The news of Jane being at the Clark family home wasn't entirely a secret. There had been rumors, but no one took them seriously. Seeing her in person was still quite a shock.

Everyone looked at Jane, and then they looked at the heavily pregnant Aurora, creating an awkward atmosphere.

"Jane, long time no see!" Shirley, sitting next to Aurora, was the first to break the silence. "That dress you're wearing is from last year's L collection. I can't believe you're still wearing it. Oh, I forgot, you're no longer the heir of the Watkins family. It's already hard enough for you to afford the L dress last year."

"Shirley, after three years, your vision is still stuck on clothes. No wonder your parents are eager to find a capable husband for you to manage the family assets. With your mindset and talent, you can't support the Lopez family." Jane wasn't angry or upset. Her smile was perfect, just like the top socialite she once was.

The moment Jane stood there and spoke, it was as if her status in the social circle had never changed.
Married to an Ugly Husband? No!
