Chapter 1009 Leaving
"It was not because of my sister." Wade was momentarily flustered and quickly said, "I believe her accident wasn't your fault. I just want to know where you are going. Are you feeling wronged?"
Jane finally looked directly at Wade, staring for a few seconds without seeing anything.
"Are you not very bright?"
Wade was completely taken aback by Jane's comment and blinked, feeling hurt. "Jane, I..."
Jane sneered, "How many standards does the Dewar family have for manners? Aurora costantly calls me Ms. Watkins, but you, a few years younger than me, call me Jane."
Because of Wade's adorable face and his trust for her, Jane was willing to ask him to move aside, somewhat politely.
However, Wade's trust didn't earn Jane any extra patience, especially since Wade was Aurora's brother.
Jane saw an empty taxi, waved it down, and got in directly.
Perhaps it had been too long since she felt such warmth from a stranger, Jane couldn't help but glance through the rearview mirror at Wade, who was standing outside the car.
Wade's expression was filled with sadness, as if he had been treated unfairly.
Jane calmed down and wondered why Wade immediately showed he trusted her.
In Jane's eyes, no one else believed her, so why did this stranger Wade say he did?
And he even asked if Jane felt wronged.
What's the use of feeling wronged? Such emotions were the most useless.
Only when someone loved her, she could have the right to feel wronged.
Wade felt a bit depressed, took a few deep breaths to adjust his emotions, and returned to the hospital ward. Then he heard that Aurora had another sudden hemorrhage and was sent back to the operating room.
Outside the operating room, Wade only saw Ann and his parents, but not Anthony.
Wade searched around and finally found Anthony outside the nursery. He heard Anthony asking the nurse, "When can I schedule a DNA paternity test with the child as soon as possible?"
When Anthony saw Wade, he didn't feel guilty about arranging a DNA test right after having a child. He even confirmed the time with the nurse and made all the arrangements before giving Wade any attention.
Anthony glanced at Wade, saw that Wade had no intention of speaking first, and directly walked away, making a phone call. "Have you found her?"
Without knowing the content of the phone call, Anthony's face became quite grim.
Anthony showed no joy of being a new father, as if the person who had been anxiously guarding in the operating room wasn't him.
Now that Aurora was still in the operating room, Anthony was confirming if the child was his. Wade roughly understood the situation.
"Mr. Clark!"
Wade caught up. Anthony said, "Get lost."
Wade stood there and chuckled, "Someone just said something similar to me, but more politely. She just told me to move aside."
Anthony stopped and looked at Wade.
"You met Jane?" Anthony detected something unusual in Wade's words.
Wade didn't hide it. "Yes, she just left the hospital."
Anthony immediately had Clint check the car and Jane's travel information. Soon, he got the answer. "Mr. Clark, Ms. Watkins bought a ticket back to Paykston. The flight leaves in an hour."
'She is about to leave without a word,' Anthony thought.
Anthony's face turned even darker.
Wade then asked, "What's going on between you and my sister?"
Wade was very smart. He had already noticed something was wrong when Aurora first threatened to miscarry. He was young but saw things clearly.
"Go ask your sister." Anthony had no patience to deal with Wade. He took a few steps, then suddenly stopped, looking at Wade with a dangerous gaze. "You know Jane?"
"Yes." Wade didn't hide it. "Three years ago, at her personal concert, I sat in the VIP section."
Anthony frowned.
Wade continued, "Maybe you saw me later too. I attended every one of her art exhibitions."
"You like her?" Anthony seemed to understand. "Are you here to challenge me or show off? Are you even an adult?"
Anthony looked at Wade mockingly.
Anthony didn't wait for Wade to speak again. He instructed the bodyguard to keep an eye on Aurora's child to prevent any accidents, then quickly went downstairs and headed to the airport.
As for whether Wade liked Jane, Anthony had no interest.
Over the years, Jane had never been short of admires. Since high school, Anthony had dealt with many rivals, both openly and secretly. Wade wasn't even worth his effort.
On the way to the hospital, Anthony received a call from Ann who asked where he was.
"On the way to the airport," Anthony said.
"The airport? Aurora is still in the operating room. Let your staff handle work matters. Come back immediately!" Ann paused, realizing Jane was also missing, and guessed, "Are you going to find Jane?"
Seeing that Anthony didn't deny it, Ann was furious and said, "Anthony Clark, come back immediately! Don't go! Do you think you can bring her back? She almost killed Aurora and your son today. I even slapped her. Do you think you can bring her back? If you do, I will definitely make her kneel down and apologize to Aurora!"
Anthony's face darkened. "If there's a problem, talk to Clint. I'm hanging up now."
Anthony called Sadie, who was at home. "Is Jane's luggage still there?"
"Someone came to pick up Ms. Watkins' luggage half an hour ago. You..." Sadie hesitated, "Mr. Clark, after you left with the ambulance, I saw Ms. Watkins holding a few pieces of broken jade."
Almost instantly, Anthony's mind flashed back to the scene when he rushed into the guest room. He vaguely heard something breaking. And he might have accidentally bumped into Jane.
He broke the jade bracelet Jovan gave Jane.
Anthony rubbed his temples, feeling a splitting headache.
"Drive faster," Anthony told the driver.
The driver was troubled. "Mr. Clark, the speed limit on this road is 20 miles per hour."
Most city roads have a speed limit of 20 miles per hour.
Anthony frowned, his irritation evident.
After a while, Anthony pulled out his phone and booked the fastest flight to Paykston. He also instructed his subordinates in Paykston to wait for Jane at the airport.
Jane arrived at the airport and soon changed her route to the train station, buying a high-speed rail ticket to Fae City. After getting the ticket, she sent a photo to Jovan.
Jovan replied: [Ok].
Jane deleted her and Jovan's chat history and waited for the bodyguard Jovan arranged for her.
While waiting for the ticket check, Jane kept looking around quietly, trying to find the person Jovan arranged. Instead, she saw Richard's familiar face .
