Chapter 200 Drugging
Oliver lowered his gaze. Hailey approached him with a timid and coquettish posture, but he knew she only pretended to be worried about Natalie, using it as an excuse to look for him. From her appearance to her low-cut top, everything was carefully crafted. His eyes glinted coldly as he looked at her, but in the end, he stepped aside and allowed her to enter the lounge.
…
At the bar.
"Natalie, I sincerely want to make things right between us," Adrian whispered, sounding earnest.
Natalie, however, noticed the restlessness in his eyes. She knew he did not come to her simply for a casual chat or to show their relationship to these people, which would only serve as fodder for idle gossip. She had a feeling that Adrian had more devious plans.
Natalie remained silent, ignoring Adrian.
Adrian picked up a dark purple cocktail from the counter, swirling it before offering it to Natalie with a semblance of regret. "Alright, since we’re not meant to be, let’s have a farewell drink for our past.”
Natalie hesitated, her gaze fixed on the glass, contemplating whether to accept it. At that moment, she noticed Wyatt in the crowd. Their eyes met, and he smiled warmly at her.
In the next moment, Wyatt suddenly waved at Adrian and asked, “Could I steal a moment of your time, Adrian? It won't take long.”
With Wyatt's influential background and promising prospects, Adrian was eager to befriend him. He naturally would not refuse. Before he left, he turned to Natalie and said, “Please wait for me for a moment.”
In truth, Wyatt had no genuine interest in conversing with Adrian, seeing the latter as lacking in competence and ambition. They exchanged a few perfunctory words and business cards, and Wyatt thought to himself inwardly that he would blacklist Adrian’s number after this.
…
Meanwhile, Natalie prepared another dark purple cocktail, deftly switching between two glasses.
The onlookers, intrigued by her skill, were unable to discern which glass was which.
Natalie discreetly placed the glass handled by Adrian aside.
Upon his return, Adrian was pleased to see Natalie with the cocktail, unaware of the switch. He believed it to be the same drink.
"To the past," he toasted, beaming with anticipation.
Natalie echoed his words, keeping her distance as they clinked glasses. She took a sip from her glass after this.
Adrian did not mind and happily drank from his glass, looking forward to what was next.
“Adrian, you can really drink!”
“Natalie, cheers!”
“Natalie, since you toasted Adrian, you can’t possibly refuse us, right?”
The crowd around them, long admiring Natalie's beauty but wary of Oliver, now saw an opportunity with Adrian as an example.
As the night wore on, Adrian announced it was time to leave, thinking that the medicine should take effect soon.
“Everyone, it’s getting late. I’ll take Natalie back to rest. Let’s drink again another time!
Although the others were unhappy, they did not object. After all, Natalie did not object. After all, she was Mrs. Windsor; their opinions held little weight.
The evening's events hinted that Adrian was setting a trap for Natalie or there was really an affair between the two. Regardless, the result was confirmed: the nephew and his ‘aunt’ were going to betray his uncle.
After Natalie and Adrian had departed, rumors began to circulate.
"Guess what I saw earlier? I saw Hailey and Oliver together!"
"Seems like they're all enjoying each other's company!"
"Hey, do you dare to ask Adrian or Oliver how they feel tomorrow?”
"Of course not! In any case, there’s no need to ask. I’m sure they feel great!”
…
Natalie had switched the drinks earlier, so she did not experience any adverse effects. She discreetly observed Adrian's expressions and actions, contemplating her next move.
"Natalie, are you all right?" Adrian feigned concern.
"I feel a little dizzy," Natalie responded, pressing her temples with her fingers and looking into his eyes. He appeared delighted and full of anticipation.
‘Indeed, he messed with that drink earlier!’
Natalie pretended to be unsteady on her feet, and Adrian quickly came to her aid, thinking that the drug was taking effect.
“There’s a room upstairs. Why don’t I bring you there?”
"Okay," Natalie agreed.
Adrian's smile was one of victory, and his gaze was laden with lust. The moment he had been eagerly awaiting was finally upon him!
Adrian, having prepared the room in advance, helped Natalie inside as soon as he opened the door.
“You smell awful! Go and take a shower!” Natalie commented, pretending to look weak.
Adrian, reeking of tobacco and alcohol, assumed that Natalie, under the influence of a drug, would not be able to flee. Since this would be their first time, he also wanted to make it memorable. Therefore, he did not refuse and settled Natalie onto the bed and proceeded to the bathroom.
Natalie quickly scrolled through the phone numbers she had acquired earlier from a staff member after Adrian entered the bathroom.
"Hello," a woman said from the other end of the line.
At the same time, Natalie discreetly locked the bathroom door from the outside.
Adrian did not hear the soft clicking sound at all.
Natalie said in a hushed tone, “Lyra, do you want to be with Adrian? You’ll have wealth and power, and you’ll have a chance to stand up to Hailey. What do you think?”
…
On the other side, Hailey could hardly contain her excitement as she hurriedly entered the room, fearing that Oliver would change his mind.
Oliver went to pour some water. However, he suddenly put the pitcher down and turned to Hailey, saying, “Help yourself.”
Hailey was ecstatic at this turn of events.
‘What a stroke of luck!’
She had meticulously prepared for her visit to Oliver today, aware that opportunities were scarce and must be seized.
