Chapter 887 You're Really Stupid
"Are you illegally detaining us?"
Caleb's voice was loud, inadvertently attracting the attention of Helen and James who were in the room.
Jamie responded with a smile, "Of course not. Isn't Susan still injured? Imagine if she leaves on her own accord and succumbs to her injuries along the way. What if you turn around and demand compensation from us?"
'Shameless! These people are too shameless!'
Regardless of Jamie's words, they found themselves without any means to relocate Susan. Not only was leaving the hospital out of the question, but even leaving this corridor, which was heavily guarded by bodyguards, proved challenging.
"James, call Samuel and ask him to come over!"
Caleb felt out of his depth after not dealing with matters like this for so many years. Moreover, Helen and James were unreliable. Ultimately, he had no choice but to seek Samuel's help.
Shortly thereafter, Natalie and Oliver arrived.
"Natalie, why are you so wicked? How could I have given birth to such a vicious daughter?" Helen began her tirade before Natalie had fully stepped into the ward.
Oliver quickly pulled Natalie into his arms, clearly showing his support, before he snatched a pair of tweezers from a nearby counter and hurled them at Helen.
The tweezers, sharp like a dart, sailed toward Helen. Helen, who had been grumbling, fell silent and tension seized her body as the sharp object approached. Paralyzed with fear, she could only watch as the tweezers skimmed her neck and clattered to the floor.
Several tense seconds later, Helen collapsed in exhaustion, gulping as she stared at Oliver, her eyes wide with fear, stripped of her former arrogance.
Oliver's smile was icy as he warned, "I can't even bring myself to scold Natalie, yet you dare to. Do you want to die?"
"Natalie!" Helen's voice was weak as she sought her daughter's help.
"Helen, we're not on such intimate terms, are we? If you do not want to call me Natalie Windsor, just call me Natalie," Natalie said calmly. She did not seem hurt at all that Helen, her biological mother, protected Susan and accused her of being vicious. In her opinion, it was not worth it to feel hurt because of someone like Helen.
"Natalie, we're here to deal with Susan's situation," Caleb said, casting an impatient glance at Helen, who seemed to be causing trouble without reason.
"How do you plan to deal with it?" Oliver asked.
"The injuries to Susan's face and arm, are they your doing, Natalie? Oliver, the hospital doctors will not treat Susan, and your bodyguards will not let her transfer. What is the meaning of all this? Ignoring the law, treating Paykston as your own territory? I have lived for decades and have never seen such bullying!"
Realization dawned on Oliver and Natalie. It seemed like they held Oliver and Natalie accountable and wanted an explanation from them.
Natalie silently cursed them as fools as she said, "Indeed, I caused Susan's face and hand injuries. I am starting to regret it now. I should have broken her legs too."
"Natalie!" Caleb scolded loudly.
Natalie remained unfazed, calmly asking, "Have you asked Susan why she's in the hospital? Have you asked why I hit her?"
Neither Caleb nor James had asked the reason. They simply assumed that Natalie was acting out of jealousy and seeking revenge.
"It seems you have not asked," Natalie observed their expressions and said mockingly, "Let me tell you—Susan tried to crash her car into ours. She ended up in the hospital because of her terrible driving skills, crashing into a tree. The slap mark on her face was well deserved for provoking me."
Susan looked panicked.
In the midst of the Hastings family's shock and disbelief, Natalie continued, "When I entered this ward, Susan asked me if I had any tricks up my sleeve. I had to show her a little, or she would be too complacent."
"That's not true!" Susan vehemently refuted.
Oliver's expression remained stern, while Natalie looked at Susan as though she was watching a show. Her expression seemed to say, 'Go on. Let's see how you lie.'
"Grandpa, Dad, Mom, Natalie is lying! Natalie is lying! I didn't intend to crash into her!" Susan exclaimed.
"Susan, you're really stupid," Natalie shook her head and said, "Cameras are everywhere now. Do you think you can alter the truth with your words alone?"
At this, Caleb, James, and Helen's expressions darkened. They realized that Natalie was undoubtedly telling the truth. The camera recordings had made everything crystal clear.
"Natalie, are you both okay? What about Nathan? Is Nathan alright?" Caleb quickly shifted his concern, attempting to catch Natalie off guard.
Caleb understood that in this situation, Natalie held the upper hand, with Oliver primarily there for support.
Natalie remained silent, her thoughts evident in her tense demeanor. At the same time, she thought, 'Does Nathan's well-being concern you? Just because we're okay, does it mean Susan can get away with this? What a plan!'
"I didn't mean to!" Susan could no longer hold back her tears as she said, "I just wanted to reconcile with Natalie, but I never got the chance! I felt she was looking down on me, and I wanted to catch up and explain."
The idea that a desire to crash a car stemmed from a wish to reconcile was ludicrous!
Natalie was taken aback by the absurdity of those words and could only mutter, "Shameless."
Caleb, James, and Helen seemed to have lost their minds. Were they really siding with Susan over their own flesh and blood, Samuel?
"Indeed, I've been very busy," Samuel interjected with a cold glance toward Susan. His voice was equally cold as he added, "Busy dealing with Susan's affairs!"
As he spoke, he tossed a stack of documents onto the table.
Caleb and James picked them up first—medical assistance documents, 4S store vehicle warranty documents, various papers from the traffic police station, and more.
"I've also been negotiating with various media outlets," Samuel continued.
"What are these?" James asked, clearly confused.
Samuel looked at James and asked, "Isn't it obvious? I'm dealing with the mess Susan left behind."
