Chapter 1164 Holding a Make-up Wedding

Jane got calls from Natalie and Flora, who had heard rumors about her injury and were worried, so they checked in on her.

Since it was not a secure line, Jane just told them she was fine and asked them to come over to the Watkins family home. Inviting friends over was a perfect cover.

Natalie and Flora knew Jane well. Even though she didn't say much on the phone, they could tell she was okay and probably not sick at all.

They didn't ask too many questions and brought gifts for a "sick visit" the next day.

"You two don't seem surprised," Jane said with a knowing smile when she saw them arriving with supplements, only to find her perfectly fine at the door.

"We know you too well," Natalie said, smiling. She knew Jane was fine and even brought Nathan along.

Nathan sat quietly in Natalie's arms, his big eyes curiously looking around.

Nathan was super cute, and Jane felt a bit envious. She reached out to him and said, "Nathan, let me hold you!"

Nathan looked at Jane and gently called out, "Jane," but he didn't want her to hold him.

"That's just how he is, like his dad," Natalie said, a bit helpless. Besides her, Nathan wasn't close to anyone else, not even Oliver, who was just a backup option.

Luckily, despite being aloof, Nathan was polite and knew how to greet people.

Jane sighed and asked Flora, "Flora, why didn't you bring Tina? I want to hold her."

A servant pushed a stroller over, and Natalie placed Nathan in it, shaking her sore arms. "Tina's already four; you can hardly hold her anymore."

"Arthur found a retired medical professor for Tina, and now she doesn't want to go out," Flora said, a bit helpless about Tina. "How can she be so into studying human bones at such a young age?"

Seeing Natalie and Flora with their kids, Jane suddenly felt a bit down.

Natalie and Flora sensed Jane's mood shift and exchanged a glance.

"Jane." Flora hesitated.

Jane chuckled. "I'm fine. Having kids is all about fate."

Jane led Natalie and Flora, saying, "Let's go to the lakeside courtyard today. There are people in the main building, and it's not convenient."

Natalie and Flora glanced at the main building and noticed it was surrounded by hidden bodyguards.

"Ainslee is recuperating inside," Jane whispered to them. "But this must stay secret. Inviting you here today is also a cover to make the outside world think I'm the one injured."

Natalie and Flora nodded. Since it was a secret, they knew to forget about it once they left.

"By the way, I have some news," Natalie said casually, sitting on a stone bench. "Oliver plans to hold a make-up wedding ceremony for me at the end of the month."

"What? So sudden?" Jane and Flora were both shocked.

Nathan, sitting in the stroller, perked up at the mention of Oliver's name.

Natalie spread her hands innocently and quickly added, "I just found out too. He told me the day before yesterday. All I know is that I'm attending a wedding; he's handling everything else. I thought he might ask for your opinions and that you might know before me."

Jane rolled her eyes. "Honey, wake up. Do you think your husband would proactively contact us?"

Flora chimed in, "To be precise, Oliver doesn't trust the three of us not to conspire together."

Natalie thought about it and realized they were probably right.

"Natalie, you've been married to Oliver for almost three years. It's nice that he still remembers to hold a wedding ceremony for you," Flora said.

Jane, still resentful about Natalie being forced to marry Oliver and having to complete the wedding alone, snorted. "Isn't that what he should do?"

Flora nodded in agreement. "True, but I thought I would miss Natalie's wedding. It's great to see you get married in person! I'm already looking forward to it!"

"Perfect, Tina can be the flower girl," Natalie said, glancing at Nathan, who had just learned to walk, with some regret. "If Nathan were a bit older, he could be a flower boy too."

Nathan looked at Natalie in confusion, not understanding what she was saying.

Suddenly, Nathan stretched out his little arms, wanting to be held!

Jane finally seized the opportunity to lift Nathan out of the stroller, but he struggled to get down and walk after just a short while.

"I thought Nathan didn't like to move, but after he learned to walk, he became curious and started walking on his own whenever he felt like it," Natalie explained.

Luckily, he didn't insist on her holding him while walking. He was fine with the nanny holding him, or else Natalie would be exhausted.

Jane watched Nathan's wobbly walking and felt a pang in her heart but quickly suppressed it.

She thought, 'One can look back, but never go back. If possible, it's best not to look back at all and just keep moving forward.'

'Living in the past will only trap oneself in a quagmire, unable to move on.'

Married to an Ugly Husband? No!
