Chapter 155 Mr. Windsor's Jealousy
The models thought that the word was really unfair. Fortunately, it seemed like Natalie did not intend to seduce Roger at all. Perhaps she was not that charming to do so. When they thought about this, they felt a little better.
When Jamie arrived to collect dinner, he could not help but notice the limited-edition Ferrari parked at the door, and his gaze subtly shifted toward Roger.
Roger met Jamie’s gaze with a hint of arrogance, provocation, disdain, mischievousness, and fearlessness.
Jamie felt shivers running down his spine. It was the innate fear of the weak in the presence of the strong. He naturally knew Roger’s actions were deliberate.
…
When Jamie delivered dinner to Oliver's office, he reported Roger’s presence at the villa before he added, “Young Master, that man doesn’t seem like an ordinary person.”
Oliver looked up from his meal to Jamie.
As Oliver's assistant and bodyguard, Jamie possessed keen observation skills, insight, and sharpness.
Jamie brought out a portrait he had just drawn. This skill was vital for a competent assistant when taking photos was not an option.
“He has silver hair,” Jamie added.
As soon as Oliver saw the portrait, he narrowed his eyes slightly. His gaze grew colder and colder. He resisted the urge to call Natalie and question her immediately. Instead, he said, “I want to be a judge on Top Avenue.”
Jamie was taken aback. "Mr. Windsor, the judges for tomorrow's show have already been set. There’s also the situation with the assassin and Victoria which has yet to be resolved..."
"Just do it!"
"Yes!"
…
The production team allocated three hours to each photographer to edit their photos. By 7:30 in the evening, they needed to submit their best photo to the production team, which would then post the photos on the program’s official account for another round of online voting.
In this round, online votes held a 3:7 ratio with the judges' professional votes, determining the final score.
At 8 PM, the official account would release one contestant's photo every ten minutes, to generate ample attention and discussion.
The first contestant's photo was dismal. Neither the contestant nor the male model had significant fame, and the male model lacked intensity in his performance. The photographer's skills were also subpar, leading to many imperfections in the photo.
Mockery and criticism ensued online.
The second photo was of Arwyn.
Arwyn and Blake's performance was merely average this time, but both of them shared the official photos on their social media accounts for promotional purposes, which garnered them more votes. Moreover, their photographer was rather popular as well. The comparison to the previous contestant's photo made Arwyn's popularity surged.
The third photo was another disappointment, resulting in a barrage of negative comments.
The fourth photo was of Hailey.
Hailey donned a turquoise puffy dress reminiscent of a noble European woman from ancient times. Two male models flanked her in the background while she held the top male model’s chin, exuding an air of aristocratic extravagance. The photo beautifully captured the essence of a noble young lady and received abundant praise.
[Miss Watson is truly the epitomy aristocracy! She radiates nobility!]
[The future Mrs. Harrington is really beautiful! Her husband is really the luckiest!]
[She can clearly live a life of luxury relying on her family and fiance, but yet, she chose to rely on her talent! We love you, Hailey!]
Every account was granted a single opportunity to vote, and the later a contestant's photo was unveiled, the less favorable it was for them, as viewers might lose interest.
Natalie happened to be the last.
She opted for a different approach. She wore a watermelon-red ancient Greek gown. The dress accentuated her graceful neck and outlined her slender waist. She posed in a way where her legs were revealed.
Standing beside her was a tall man in a suit. His back was facing the front, but he turned sideways to look at her. Half of his face was concealed by the hat, only revealing his sharp jawline and Adam’s apple.
Natalie deliberately avoided revealing Roger's face, to prevent any unnecessary complications for him. However, he seemed even more attractive with only half of his profile in view. He looked mysterious, and his allure transcended mere appearance.
The backdrop was props that mimicked ancient Greek architectures, and the photographer fully captured the essence of an ancient Greek princess.
However, at this time, many people had exhausted their votes. After an hour of waiting, a significant number of them had lost interest.
Only a handful of scattered enthusiasts continued to praise Natalie's remarkable photo, so it did not generate many waves.
The eleven photos could be neatly divided into three tiers, marked by significant differences in quality. Some were exceptionally outstanding, while others fell far short, and the average ones were merely passable.
This stark contrast provided ample material for online critics to dissect.
The poorly rated photos faced intense criticism.
One female model, lacking resilience, decided to withdraw from the competition that evening due to the online hate.
Meanwhile, Natalie asked a staff member she had a good relationship with about the order of the photos.
"In fact, it's all determined by the contestants' agencies and their backgrounds. Although you’re not signed with an agency and don’t have a powerful backing, your photo shouldn’t have been posted last. It’s because Miss Harrington called and demanded your photo to be posted last,” the other party said.
Since Natalie deliberately hid Roger’s face, he could not help her much in stirring up attention. Moreover, he had left after dinner, not showing obvious signs of support for Natalie. As such, the production team naturally had to listen to the investor.
In short, Natalie offended Noah, and Noah was making things difficult for Natalie.
In this silent battle for interests, those individuals who lacked skills and connections became casualties.
…
When Natalie was returning to her room, she ran into Hailey and Arwyn.
"Natalie, you should have withdrawn when Blake chose me. After all, your partner was not a professional model, and your photographer is unknown,” Arwyn said mockingly.
Initially, Arwyn believed that Natalie was simply attractive and lucky. However, fortunate, the more she got to know Natalie better, the more threatened she felt. Particularly after she saw that breathtaking photo.
"Natalie, the fashion industry isn't a place where you can take shortcuts. It’s useless even if Roger helped you. It’s still better to progress step by step,” Hailey said. She still could not let go of the fact that Natalie had a good relationship with Roger. No matter how she thought about it, she still could not figure out how Roger and Natalie became acquainted and what made Roger treat Natalie differently.
