Chapter 129 Natalie Has Killed Someone!
The sensation of relief, absent for so long, washed over Natalie, sweeping away her frustration. She could not resist raising the corners of her mouth.
She also smiled cooperatively and said, "Hello!"
Oliver cast a sidelong glance at Natalie, and his cold and somber countenance finally revealed a hint of delight. A hint of a smile could be seen in his eyes. Then, he said to Hailey, "You’re still not a member of the Harrington family, so you don’t have the right to address her like that."
Being forced to call her sister ‘Aunt’ and told she lacked the privilege to do so was truly insulting!
Adrian's countenance darkened instantly, and Hailey pursed her lips in silence.
…
As night descended and the sunset cast a beautiful glow over everything, a romantic cruise ship glided toward the inland sea.
Before the engagement party commenced, guests engaged in conversations, forming groups of two or three while savoring the snacks.
The pastry chef was a Michelin chef, and Hailey had boasted about it on Instagram earlier.
Natalie leaned against the railing, her gaze fixed upon the sparkling stars in the sky, all the while relishing the cool sea breeze.
Meanwhile, Oliver, the legitimate heir of the Windsor family, had been summoned by Henry for a discussion. Robert, Victoria, along with Edwin, Adrian, and others, joined in. The discussion centered around Hailey's inclusion into the Harrington family.
Speaking of Robert, even though he knew Natalie was here, he had no intention of meeting her.
Natalie was surprised that Oliver was willing to participate in that discussion, but she was even more surprised that Victoria had the courage to face Oliver after he almost crippled her.
Suddenly, a disdainful voice came from behind, saying, "Some people have no standards. They would even marry an ugly monster just to enter a wealthy family!"
"Yeah, the truly shocking thing in this world is not shameless people, but those without dignity!"
"That’s just because she could not marry my brother and had to set her sights on someone else!"
Natalie turned to the source of the voices and saw several socialites glancing at her from time to time. It was clear that they were saying those words for her to hear.
The woman leading the conversation was Noah.
"Oh, Natalie, there you are. If I had seen you here, I wouldn’t have said those things," Noah said, pretending as though she had just seen Natalie.
The other socialites laughed and mocked Natalie, but their envy toward her was obvious. In their eyes, she was a lowly person who did not belong in high society, yet she managed to marry into the Windsor family.
In terms of status, Natalie had surpassed Noah, Adrian, and the others.
Moreover, when they saw Oliver earlier, he looked tall and handsome even with his mask, far from someone who was weak!
Natalie remained silent, smiling calmly at them, showing no signs of being affected by their words.
Upon seeing this, the group felt a sense of dissatisfaction deep inside.
"Natalie," Noah said, pretending to be curious, "What do you think of my brother and sister-in-law's engagement party? Are you jealous? After all, your wedding…"
Noah turned to the others and said scornfully, “Her wedding, if you can even call it that, was a mess… The groom was not even present…”
A fellow socialite chimed in, adding fuel to the fire.
"No wonder no one in our circle knew about her addition to the Windsor family!"
"When one marries," Noah continued, "It should be for love, as Hailey did. Not like some who marry for wealth and status! Their husbands don’t treat them as wives at all…"
Noah still remembered that time when Natalie slapped her, but she knew that in this public setting, a direct confrontation would be unbecoming. So, she resorted to using her words to embarrass Natalie. With Oliver conspicuously absent, Natalie had no one to protect her defender in the room, so she could insult Natalie as much as she pleased.
Natalie calmly took a sip of her champagne, relishing the moment her diamond wedding ring caught the radiant light. The envious glances of those socialites did not go unnoticed.
It had to be said that Natalie was a master of subtle gestures.
Noah, growing increasingly infuriated, decided to play her trump card. She stepped closer to Natalie and asked in a hushed tone, "Natalie, do you know how Flora died?"
Natalie's composed expression underwent an instant transformation. She demanded, "What do you know?"
Noah's smirk was unmistakable, oozing with satisfaction. "Beg me! Beg me, and I'll reveal who Flora's boyfriend was! From what I heard, she might've even been pregnant back then!"
"Pregnant?!"
Natalie was anxious. She pushed Noah back until the latter’s back hit the railings before she urged, “Speak!”
"Ah!" Noah exclaimed, taken aback by the intensity of Natalie's reaction.
"Natalie, what are you doing? Let go of Noah!" someone cried out in alarm.
However, Natalie had only one thought in mind: make Noah tell the truth!
When Lucas's health issues had come to light, the Watkins family was in chaos. Flora disappeared after she went to look for her boyfriend to help them.
Flora had never talked much about her boyfriend back then. Natalie and Jane had known only that he came from an influential family. It was later, when Lucas's urgent need for money and the desperate state of the Watkins family, that Flora had suggested seeking assistance from her boyfriend. However, after that, she had never returned, disappearing without a trace.
Subsequently, Natalie and Jane had stumbled upon Flora's diary, which had held revelations about her relationship. It was clear that Flora had not been with her boyfriend out of love; she had been forced to be with him. Flora had mentioned in her diary that they had already broken up by the time she went to borrow money. If it had not been for them, Flora would have disappeared.
"Help me!" Noah shouted in panic, "Natalie has gone crazy! She’s trying to kill me! Natalie, you can’t commit a crime just because you’re jealous of my brother and Natalie! My brother loves Hailey, not you!”
In truth, Natalie was not pushing Noah backward; she was merely cornering the latter to make the latter speak. Noah had deliberately said those words to stir up trouble.
"Miss Noah!"
"Mrs. Windsor, stop! What are you doing?"
"Security! Summon the security!"
"Natalie has gone insane! She’s trying to kill someone!"
Natalie grasped Noah's chin firmly, pressing her against the railings.
The people in the surroundings feared for their own safety and did not dare to step forward.
"Noah, if you don’t talk, I’m going to push you over!"
Flora’s disappearance, or rather, her tragic death, left a wound on Natalie’s heart. At this point, she did not care what others thought about her. She only wanted to know the truth.
Given the Watkins family's tragic situation back then, those who were capable of helping had to be at least equal to the Harrington family, a prestigious family. They were not people Natalie could easily meet back then.
After two years, the sole breakthrough she had was from Noah!
"Help me! Natalie is crazy! She’s trying to kill me!” Noah shouted as she struggled, pretending to be terrified while she looked at Natalie provocatively. She knew Natalie for many years now, and she was confident that Natalie would not push her over.
