Chapter 223 Mr. Windsor Protects His Own
Mrs. Watson had initially believed she would need to spend a significant amount of money to rescue her daughter. It had never occurred to her that Natalie would be the cause of trouble. Her face turned red with anger.
"Natalie, you ungrateful b*tch! The Watson family has taken care of you for more than ten years, and now you are plotting against your sister!? Are you jealous of Hailey? Do you wish to remove her as a competitor? Tell me! Speak, you ungrateful girl!"
The officers, initially curious, wondered why a family would be involved in a matter of life and death. As it turned out, it was a hidden scandal of a wealthy family!
Mrs. Watson, consumed by rage, was on the verge of striking Natalie.
Although Natalie had no training in martial arts or self-defense, she knew she would be able to handle Mrs. Watson.
This middle-aged woman, accustomed to a life of comfort for many years, was clearly overconfident.
Just as Mrs. Watson was about to act, Emily stepped forward to protect Natalie. Emily’s aura was fierce as she said, “Are you so dismissive of societal rules that you’d resort to violence, even in a police station?"
Hearing this, the officers quickly intervened to calm Mrs. Watson down. Their initial hesitation stemmed partly from their view of it as an internal dispute of a distinguished family and partly from shock.
"Natalie, you shameless creature! You’re as despicable as your mother, who was a kept woman!"
Unable to physically attack Natalie, Mrs. Watson resorted to hurling insults, using the most offensive words she could think of.
Emily's face showed her disgust. Coming from a traditional and prestigious family, she was no stranger to deceit and manipulation. However, witnessing such shameless and vulgar behavior from someone within the elite circle was a first for her.
Mrs. Watson was nothing but a loudmouthed shrew!
"That’s enough!"
Robert looked at Natalie being protected by Emily and Hailey being confined to the interrogation and made up his mind.
“Officers, this is a family matter. Can you please release my daughter?”
The decision to handle the matter privately required consent from both parties involved. The officer looked toward Natalie for her response.
Robert looked at Natalie and said threateningly, “Natalie, don’t be stubborn. If you weren’t at fault, your sister wouldn’t have done this! You’re a member of the Watson family, so you should listen to me! Consider the bigger picture. You wouldn’t want others to speak ill of Lucas's sisters, would you?"
Robert had often used the family and his status as a father to control Natalie, but he knew using Lucas was still the most effective tactic.
Emily could not hide her disdain and disgust. Having spent time with Natalie over the past two months, she recognized Natalie's straightforward and kind nature, as well as her resilient spirit. She knew these traits were rare. She was not surprised by Natalie’s reluctance to associate with her family.
Natalie remained silent; her lips were pressed firmly together. She was unwilling to yield, but she had to consider Lucas.
"Natalie, say something!" Mrs. Watson pressed.
“See? You’ll have to release me sooner or later!" Hailey's triumphant laughter echoed from the interrogation room.
Just when it seemed Natalie would relent, she said decisively, "There won’t be any private settlements."
"What?" Hailey's voice rose in disbelief. "What did you say? Have you lost your mind, Natalie?! Who do you think you are, you wretch!"
"Natalie, stop acting up! Or else I..."
Robert seized Natalie's arm, his teeth clenched. His eyes bore into hers with a menacing threat. He believed he had other means to compel her to comply.
"Or what?"
A deep and detached voice interrupted at this moment, followed by the sound of steady footsteps. A tall and imposing man wearing a mask entered, accompanied by Charles.
Natalie was stunned.
‘Why is Oliver here?’
Emily, upon seeing the man, knitted her brows in confusion. She had just called Natalie's husband for support, so she did not understand why this man would appear. She confirmed the number she called on her phone, and it matched the emergency contact given by one of Natalie's husband's subordinates.
Everyone in the circle knew that the silver mask was a signature of Oliver Windsor. They also knew that Charles was Oliver Windsor’s subordinate.
Initially, Emily had hoped to leverage Natalie's husband's influence to protect Natalie from being taken advantage of. Unexpectedly, the man, whose arrogance left a strong impression on her, turned out to be Oliver Windsor.
"Oliver..." Robert, caught off guard, quickly asked flatteringly, "Oliver, why are you here? Please, take a seat.”
Mrs. Watson wasted no time in voicing her grievances, saying tearfully, “Oliver, look! Natalie is really heartless! She deliberately found a woman to ruin Hailey and Adrian’s relationship! Now, she even dragged Hailey into this mess!”
"Mommy! Enough!" Hailey interjected sharply.
Unbeknownst to Robert and Mrs. Watson, Hailey had firsthand experience of Oliver's ruthlessness.
Oliver looked at the Watsons disdainfully before he examined Natalie for injuries. Then, he quickly hugged her.
To onlookers, Oliver's gesture might appear as mere comfort. Only Natalie knew how tight his hold was.
Natalie responded by gently patting his back, reassuring him.
Releasing her, Oliver's expression remained cool and detached. He countered Mrs. Watson’s earlier words, saying, “Your daughter is in this predicament because she’s stupid. Don’t blame others.”
Oliver emphasized the word ‘stupid’.
Hailey and Mrs. Watson’s expressions darkened immediately.
Hailey closed her eyes in resignation. She knew that Oliver would protect Natalie.
“Oliver, how could you say that?” Mrs. Watson began, only to be silenced by Robert.
"Enough!" Robert interjected, covering Mrs. Watson's mouth before turning to Oliver with a forced smile, saying, "Oliver, Hailey and Natalie are sisters. It's regrettable they've come to this point. Certainly, Hailey bears responsibility, but Natalie is not blameless. Furthermore, Natalie is now a public figure. It’s not beneficial for anyone if this matter escalates.”
Oliver held Natalie’s waist with one hand while the other idly toyed with her hair, looking indifferent.
Natalie, ignoring Robert's desperate attempts to signal her, kept her gaze lowered. She discreetly observed Oliver, curious about how he would deal with this matter.
