Chapter 1165 Noisy
Natalie and Flora's visit made everyone more convinced Jane was recovering from an illness.
For a while, families in Paykston sent supplements and sympathy gifts to the Watkins manor.
"Is this really good for you?" Ainslee, still bandaged up, asked while holding a supplement.
Restless, he had the servants move him to the first-floor living room. Jovan wouldn't let him do any research or data analysis, so Ainslee had to find ways to keep busy, like now, by unwrapping gifts.
"Why is there a ruby?" Ainslee pouted at Jane. "Who sends a sympathy gift like this? Looks more like a suitor's gift."
Jane, cross-legged on the sofa editing photos, wished Ainslee would just shut up.
Ainslee seemed to have endless things to say.
"There's even a Hermès bag here!" he exclaimed, unwrapping more gifts. "Diamonds, preserved flowers, and even a stuffed toy."
He asked the butler, "Who sent these?"
"Mr. Richardson, none of these gifts have a signature," the butler replied.
So they were anonymous.
The gifts were clearly meant to please a girl, likely from the same person.
Ainslee had the servants check the surveillance footage and found out who sent them. "Jane, isn't this Clint, the guy who hangs around your ex-boyfriend?"
Jane looked up at the mention of "ex-boyfriend."
She had only one ex, Anthony.
Curiosity got the better of her, and she leaned over to look.
It was indeed Clint who delivered the gifts.
Ainslee crossed his arms and sneered, "Sending gifts anonymously but having Clint deliver them personally, pretending not to want you to know but actually afraid you wouldn't."
Jane didn't respond, so Ainslee asked, "Do you think I'm right?"
Jane replied, "Mr. Richardson, there are many suspense TV shows and movies. Interested? Plenty of people for you to analyze!"
Ainslee, feeling rebuked, fell silent, his face showing disdain as if saying, "You can't take a joke."
He was just teasing her; was it necessary to get so angry?
Can't she cut a patient some slack? These siblings are all the same!
"What are you doing? Give it to me." Jane saw Ainslee tossing a diamond like a stone and snatched it away.
She moved all the gifts from Anthony away from Ainslee.
"What are you doing? Just because it's from your ex, you're being so stingy?" Ainslee looked at Jane, dissatisfied. "He's your ex, and you're still protecting his stuff. Jovan even beat him up."
Jane closed her eyes and sincerely asked, "Ainslee, are you this noisy in front of Jovan too?"
"What?" Ainslee looked puzzled.
Jane gave up on talking to Ainslee.
What did Jovan see in him?
In the following days, Jane received gifts from Anthony almost every other day.
His intentions were clear and undisguised.
Obviously, getting beaten up by Jovan hadn't affected him at all.
