Chapter 440

"Charles, what's with Mr. Windsor today?" an executive asked cautiously.

Charles, still occupied with organizing important documents, paused briefly, gestured for silence, and nodded in the direction of Oliver's office.

Speculation arose among the staff.

"Is it because of Natalie? Why is she in a wheelchair? Is she hurt?”

"Speak less, work more, and the paychecks will come easier," Charles advised, giving the man's shoulder a pat before he left the conference room with his documents.

Once Charles was out of earshot, the remaining executives gathered closer and whispered among themselves.

"Is Mr. Windsor in a bad mood because Natalie is unwell?"

"Not Natalie, Mrs. Windsor! Be careful with your words!"

"I saw her expression earlier! It seems like she's unhappy with him!”

"I had assumed it was merely a rumor that Mr. Windsor spoils his wife, but it appears to be true!"

"My wife has that same expression when she's upset with me."

"It seems like you have a lot of experience!"

"We can't let this situation continue. Who among us can give Mr. Windsor some advice on coaxing women?"

"You go! I'm not going. Approaching him now is akin to entering a lion's den!"

"Mrs. Windsor usually has a gentle disposition. Based on how cold she looked today; it won't be easy for Mr. Windsor to coax her. Just forget about this idea!”

A few quick-witted individuals exchanged knowing looks and chuckled before one of them said, "Or perhaps we can speak to Isaac?"

Jamie, who had been waiting outside the office, hurried over and said, "Sir, I've gathered the information you requested."

Oliver came to a halt. "Say it."

"The timeline of your treatment following the car accident years ago coincides with Susan going abroad and subsequently appearing by your side. I talked with a doctor from that hospital. Dr. Hall confirmed that the person who cared for you was indeed Susan."

Oliver, noticing a discrepancy, asked, "How does he know that person was Susan?"

"Because you were treated on the VIP hospital floor, and at that time, Susan was the only young woman present, so he remembers her very clearly. There's no mistake," Jamie concluded. Then, he asked tentatively, "Did you notice some inconsistencies?"

Otherwise, Oliver would not have tasked him with investigating an event that occurred so many years in the past. Jamie suspected that this investigation was somehow related to Susan's unexpected appearance the previous day, when she came out of nowhere to whisk Oliver away.

During his time abroad, Oliver's thoughts were constantly on Natalie. He was eager to return and see her, so he diligently condensed his work schedule, managing to come back to the country two days earlier than planned.

To his surprise, Susan was waiting for him at the airport. Eager to see Natalie, he had not intended to pay much attention to Susan.

Recently, due to Susan's petty actions and the conduct of the Hastings family, Oliver's patience with Susan had significantly diminished.

"Have you forgotten the connection we once shared?" Susan asked Oliver, her eyes filled with sorrow. After being embroiled in a plagiarism scandal, she looked haggard and pitiful.

Oliver looked at her expressionlessly, standing firmly in place. Indeed, had it not been for her support and encouragement during their younger years, he might not have overcome those challenges. He owed her a debt of gratitude.
