Chapter 221 Break Up, I'll Support You
Natalie had prepared a lavish dinner, and Oliver ate heartily. It was the most satisfying meal he had this month.
Once they had finished their meal, Oliver eagerly led Natalie upstairs without a moment's delay.
Upon entering the room, Oliver pressed Natalie against the door and kissed her fervently.
The darkness of the room, pierced only by the muted glow from the streetlamp outside filtering through the curtains, cast their silhouettes in a soft dance of shadows.
In this dim ambiance, Oliver whispered tenderly, "Natalie, aren’t you going to cheer me up?"
Natalie hesitated for a moment before she raised her head and kissed him. Previously, she had never taken the initiative. Oliver did not respond to her kiss, making her question her kissing skills. Feeling slightly disheartened, she pondered pulling away.
However, at this moment, Oliver's arms tightened around her waist as he said encouragingly, “Continue, my love.”
She could hear a hint of challenge in his words, and perhaps, influenced by Jane, she felt like she could not back down from a challenge. She made up her mind and wrapped her arms around him as she called out sweetly, “Hubby…”
Jane looked noble and elegant, and Natalie had seen how seductive Jane was. She tried to emulate Jane, but her own reservations held her back.
However, to Oliver, even Natalie's inexperienced attempts were irresistibly enchanting.
That night, Oliver made Natalie call him ‘hubby’ over and over again.
…
When noon was almost approaching the following day, Oliver finally woke Natalie up to eat.
In a half-asleep state, Natalie called out drowsily, “Hubby…”
Then, she turned away, curling up and hiding from him.
Seeing how tired she was, Oliver wondered if he should have restrained himself a little last night.
…
As Oliver’s personal doctor, Rosy would visit him once every two weeks. However, since Natalie went abroad for a month previously, the visit had increased to twice a week. She was worried about the recurrence of Oliver’s stomach problems.
One time, when she visited, she found him drinking a bowl of creamy mushroom soup. It felt very homely, something that Natalie would cook and nothing like the work of the Windsor family’s chef. Later, she found out that it was made by the chef according to Natalie’s recipe.
After Natalie left, the chef tried to get Oliver to eat. In the end, Oliver only found the mushroom soup palatable. Although it was still quite bland, at least it did not taste like chewing wax.
After examining Oliver, Rosy said, “It seems like your eating has improved. Your refusal to eat before this isn’t physiological but psychological. If we can find the triggering point, we can eliminate it.”
Oliver remained silent as he listened to Rosy’s report.
“Oliver, I suggest you try eating food cooked by others as well,” Rosy suggested. She wanted to find out the reason behind Oliver’s illness. There must be some underlying reason she did not know about. Perhaps even Oliver did not know the underlying reasons himself.
“Don’t tell Natalie about this,” Oliver ordered.
“Alright,” Rosy agreed as she thought to herself, ‘I really pity Natalie. He’s really domineering and cunning. He just wants Natalie to worry about his meals all day long…’
Indeed, after returning to the country, Natalie had been worried about Oliver’s meals. When she saw how thin he had gotten, she felt extremely guilty and would come up with ways to make delicious food for him.
…
On Saturday, Natalie first delivered lunch to Oliver and then proceeded to the university to give Lucas the clothes she had purchased for him. They had arranged to meet at a café near Imperial University.
Lucas joyfully accepted the clothes and thanked her before he asked, “Natalie, do you really intend to stay with Oliver forever?”
Lucas had always found it difficult to accept that Natalie married Oliver. He expressed his concerns, saying, "I've applied for a patent at school and sold it. If you don’t want to be with Oliver, then just leave him, and I’ll take care of you!"
Lucas had originally chosen to major in weapons because it played to his strengths. He did not need to dedicate much effort to his studies and still managed to achieve the top rank in his major. The income he generated from the organization also provided a justification for his choice of major.
Lucas had never considered Oliver to be the ideal partner for his sister. While he acknowledged that Oliver was indeed exceptional and commanded respect from other men, including Lucas who saw himself as highly intelligent. Nonetheless, he did not believe Oliver was suitable to be Natalie's husband. From any perspective, Oliver did not meet the standards.
"What are you talking about, kid?" Natalie lightly tapped Lucas on the head. "Concentrate on your studies, take care of yourself, and don’t be in a hurry to make money. I can handle it. I promise you, if I ever face any difficulties with Oliver, I won’t let myself be mistreated, okay?"
"Promise?" Lucas, getting the assurance he sought, smiled with contentment.
Unbeknownst to Natalie and Lucas, their conversation foreshadowed events that would unfold in the future.
…
With the help of a modeling agency and an agent, Natalie's modeling career began to take shape.
Natalie has been exceptionally busy recently. In addition to attending several mandatory courses at school, she was also scheduled for two magazine shoots by Emily—one for a cover and another for an inside page. Both magazines were prestigious.
For an entire month, Natalie was continuously commuting between school, Rosewood Estate, and the photo studio.
After completing an important magazine shoot, Natalie finally sighed in relief. The shoot went more smoothly than she had anticipated, and she received considerable praise from her colleagues.
"Miss Reed, you have once again discovered a rising star, creating the next Joseph. It's only a matter of time!"
Following this remark, the room became momentarily silent, with everyone's gaze turning toward Emily. Their gazes were filled with ambiguity and inexplicability.
Realizing the faux pas, the speaker quickly diverted the topic, continuing to shower Natalie with compliments.
Rumors about Emily and Joseph were rampant within the industry. Some claimed they were deeply in love, others speculated that Emily coerced Joseph into being with her, and there were also whispers that after Joseph's rise to fame, he coerced Emily into being with him.
