Chapter 1131 Get Your Bag
"My bank cards are all in there. How are you going to compensate me? With your brain?" If all the bank cards in the bag were voided and reissued, it wouldn't be impossible, but it would be very troublesome. Moreover, the bag contained her work notebook, which she absolutely needed to get back.
"Calvin, for the sake of our shallow friendship, let's not meet this month, lest I can't resist punching you," Jane said through gritted teeth.
Calvin agreed smoothly. "It's fine."
Jane, frustrated, pulled at her hair, wondering if she had left her brain at home today; otherwise, how could she have forgotten her bag in the game room?
On the other side, Anthony sat in the back seat of a car with an LV bag on his lap. The bag wasn't big, but it was packed full.
Anthony took a quick look inside. There was a thin wallet, a palm-sized notebook, a lipstick, a small mirror, and a few candies.
When idle, Jane enjoyed constant snacking; her mouth was never still.
Anthony had no intention of prying into Jane's privacy. Just as he was about to close the bag, he suddenly saw a hard object flashing blue in the corner.
Anthony paused for two seconds and then took it out without hesitation.
It was a blue sapphire cufflink, the one he had lost, and it was in Jane's possession.
Anthony couldn't describe how he felt. He didn't want Jane to know he had been at the studio that day, but he was somewhat relieved that the cufflink had ended up in Jane's hands.
Anthony had never believed in fate, but at this moment, he felt it was a blessing from God.
Otherwise, how could this cufflink have ended up in Jane's hands?
Jane waited until the next day but received no information from Anthony.
If Jane had known that her bag contained nothing valuable, she would have suspected that Anthony was trying to keep it for some reason.
Two more days passed, and because she needed the information in her work notebook, Jane had to contact Anthony.
Only then did Jane realize she had put Anthony's number on the blacklist.
Anthony had previously sent Jane a text message that simply said: [Get your bag].
Jane was furious.
"Jane, what's wrong?" Jovan asked, noticing Jane's unusual expression while eating.
"Nothing." Jane shook her head.
Jovan could tell Jane didn't want to talk about it, so he didn't press further and instead brought up another topic. "Is Calvin pursuing you?"
Jane choked on her soup and glared at Jovan. "What are you talking about!"
Jovan shrugged innocently. "If he isn't trying to pursue you, why has he been giving you gifts lately? Just yesterday, I saw him bring you ten bags."
Calvin was very proactive. Even though Jane said she didn't want his bags, he still brought all ten of them, and they were all limited editions that required special orders.
Anyone would see this as a boy trying to woo a girl.
Jovan objectively evaluated Calvin. "Calvin is a good guy, but his family situation is complicated. If you..."
"Wait!" Jane quickly interrupted Jovan. There's no 'if'! We are just pure friends, nothing more. It's impossible!"
Jane even remembered Calvin's elementary school days when he had a runny nose and chased after a girl from the next class. How could she be interested in a man like that?
"I knew you had better taste," Jovan said, satisfied with Jane's reaction.
"Jovan, if you use your standards to choose a husband for Jane, she'll be single for life," Ainslee said, swallowing a mouthful of meat and taking a moment to speak.
Ainslee had been focused on eating the delicious meat Billy had made, which Ainslee particularly enjoyed, eating more than half the plate alone.
Jane looked at Ainslee suspiciously.
Logically, Jane should be happy that Ainslee was praising Jovan, but why did she feel something was off? She couldn't quite put her finger on it.
"Jovan, I want some shrimp." Ainslee pointed to the shrimp in the middle of the table, another recent favorite.
Jovan raised an eyebrow. "Go ahead."
His expression clearly said, "No one's stopping you."
Ainslee put his words clearly, "You peel it for me."
Jane said helplessly, "Why don't you just have Jovan eat it for you?"
Ainslee liked eating things with shells but never did the work himself, being both picky and lazy!
Ainslee said righteously, "Because I'm lazy."
Ainslee nudged Jovan with his chin, urging, "Jovan, hurry up! I'm your boss, you know."
Why did Jane hear a hint of coquettishness in that? Was there something wrong with her ears or her brain?
The strange dynamic between Ainslee and Jovan became even more apparent.
Of course, Jane wouldn't go get the bag herself; she arranged for Lester from the studio to do it.
Jane was sitting in the studio, waiting for her bag, but instead, she got a call from Lester.
Lester sounded like he was about to cry on the other end. "Jane, what should I do?"
"What do you mean? What happened?" Jane frowned. "Calm down and tell me slowly."
"Jane, I crashed Anthony's car, a Bentley Mulsanne! I couldn't afford to pay for it even if it took everything I had. What if Anthony threatens me to spy on you for him?"
Lester was so scared that his voice trembled, but even at thatmoment, he didn't forget to show his loyalty to Jane. "Jane, don't worry; I would never agree to be his spy!"
Jane said, "I told you to watch more professional documentaries. What have you been watching all day? Stop talking about spies."
"Are you okay?" Jane asked about his well-being first.
"I'm fine, but the car is not! All my belongings combined don't equal the value of that car, not even ten times over!" Lester sounded lively enough.
Jane felt very helpless.
"Where did you crash his car? What's the situation now?" Jane reasoned with Lester, "Lester, if it happened during work, it can be reimbursed, okay? I have plenty of money."
On the other end, Lester was silent for a second, then immediately cheered up, "Jane, you're awesome! I dented his hood, scratched the paint on the right door, and broke the side mirror. Other than that, it doesn't seem too bad."
Jane calculated the repair costs in her head; it wasn't too much, she could afford it.
Jane nodded and asked, "What did Anthony say?"
