Chapter 1166 The Terrifying Ex-Boyfriend

Jane didn't come out to socialize until half a month later.

She was invited to attend a charity photography exhibition.

The exhibition's organizer was Daniel Griffin, a retired legend in the photography world. Jane didn't have much of a relationship with him, but he had some connections with Jane's mentor. With Jane's rising status, Daniel invited her to the event, partly to boost its prestige.

The former socialite had returned to the limelight, now backed not only by Jovan and the Richardson family but also by her own accolades.

Jovan didn't make an appearance, but he did purchase a photograph worth hundreds of thousands of dollars in Jane's name, further elevating her status.

"Ms. Watkins, do you see who that is over there?" A socialite approached Jane, pointing meaningfully towards the entrance.

Jane didn't recognize the woman, but her disdainful expression was clear: she didn't like Jane.

At the entrance, Anthony walked in wearing a silver-gray suit, his posture upright and his presence commanding, capturing everyone's attention almost immediately.

Daniel quickly approached him, engaging in conversation and introducing a young girl beside him to Anthony.

"That girl is Daniel's granddaughter. I heard she's always had a crush on Anthony," the socialite said.

"Is that all you wanted to say?" Jane retorted, resisting the urge to roll her eyes, as it would affect her image in the crowded room. "Many people have a crush on Anthony. I'm not interested."

As she spoke, Jane instinctively glanced towards Anthony. Daniel's granddaughter, Sierra Griffin, was talking to him with a shy smile.

"Hmph! You're just putting on a brave face!" The woman scoffed, not seeing any jealousy or anger on Jane's face, and walked away in her high heels.

Jane pondered why the woman would think that way.

It seemed true that when people thought she was ill recently, Anthony hadn't visited her publicly. Only the documentary crew knew about their trip to the desert, and the documentary hadn't been released yet. All events during the shoot were confidential.

These people couldn't know what had happened between her and Anthony.

"What are you looking at?" Calvin walked over with a glass of red wine, following Jane's gaze to Anthony. "Ah, him."

"What are you doing here?" Jane looked at Calvin in surprise, remembering that he didn't understand photography.

"Buying a photography for my mom." Calvin grinned. "Jane, you don't know that. So many people have been interested in Anthony lately. Many prominent families want to marry their daughters to him. That woman who just talked to you, from the Grayson family, also wants to marry Anthony, but he hasn't even met her."

Calvin's face bore an expression that seemed to say, "You have many rivals."

Jane suddenly understood. "No wonder she came to cause trouble."

Calvin sighed. "It's not just because of Anthony. She wanted a spot at a university, but the school chose you over her, and then you didn't even attend. She resents you for that. Did you forget?"

"I have no memory of that." Jane looked puzzled.

No wonder those who disliked Jane grew to dislike her even more. They saw her as a competitor, but Jane didn't even remember who they were!

She didn't respect her opponents at all!

"Your scary ex-boyfriend is here. I'm leaving!" Calvin noticed Anthony heading their way and quickly made his escape.

Calvin was afraid that Anthony would not only confront him but also reveal his feelings for Jane.

Anthony watched Calvin's retreating figure, narrowing his eyes.

A waiter passed by, and Anthony took a plate of mousse cake from the tray. A middle-aged man seemed to want to talk to Anthony, but Anthony politely declined.

Anthony stood in front of Jane, naturally handing her the mousse cake. "I noticed you haven't eaten anything."

Almost instantly, the surrounding area fell silent.
