Chapter 1087 Only Billion-Dollar Assets Are Worthy of Ms. Watkins

He pressed a button on the car's controller, and a partition rose from the middle, blocking the space between the back seat and the front row.

He said, "Jane, we don't necessarily have to solve this the traditional way."

Jane wasn't a goody-two-shoes in the traditional sense, and she immediately understood Anthony's words, looking at him in shock.

Anthony's gaze happened to fall on her lips.

Jane covered her mouth in horror and angrily shouted, "Anthony, are you out of your mind? Do you believe I can make you impotent?"

Anthony then realized how easily his gaze could be misunderstood and helplessly furrowed his brow.

He really didn't mean it that way!

But even Anthony himself didn't believe such an explanation.

When they returned to Emerald Gardens, they saw a bunch of gift bags in the living room.

"These are from Mrs. Clark," the servant explained, pausing for two seconds before continuing, "and they're all for Ms. Watkins."

"For me?" Jane was stunned.

She felt a bit curious, wondering what Ann could have sent her.

Some of the gift bags had logos, mostly from well-known luxury brands, while others had no logos but exuded an air of exquisite expense.

There were new ready-to-wear pieces from a major brand, a diamond bracelet, and a jade bangle.

From clothing to supplements, everything was of considerable value.

If Jane hadn't grown up with such things and didn't find them particularly precious, she might have been moved by Ann's gifts.

But, could Ann really be trying to make peace with her?

Otherwise, why would she persist for so long?

Seeing Jane's lack of interest in Ann's gifts, Anthony had the servant store them in the warehouse.

That night, after Jane finished her bath and came out of the bathroom, she saw a tall figure sitting on the sofa in her room.

Jane was startled, "How did you get in here?"

Anthony didn't answer, pushing a delicate brocade box towards Jane. "Take a look."

As Jane walked over, she muttered under her breath, "you clearly said you wouldn't enter my room casually, but your words are as good as farts."

She no longer expected Anthony to promise not to invade her private space.

Anthony didn't tell Jane that he had entered her room because he didn't hear a response when he knocked and was worried something had happened to her. After entering, he found that Jane was just taking a shower, and the sound of the water had drowned out his knocking. But since he was already in, he didn't bother to leave.

"You got this for me?" Jane opened the brocade box, looking shocked.

Inside was a luxurious ruby agate necklace. If she remembered correctly, it had appeared at an international auction two years ago.

Jane had liked it very much at the time, but she couldn't afford to bid on a piece of jewelry worth millions of dollars.

She didn't expect it to be in Anthony's hands.

Anthony was clearly there to give a gift, but his expression and attitude made it seem like he was collecting a debt.

Faced with Jane's question, Anthony didn't speak, but his face seemed to say, "What else? Just to show you?"

"Why are you suddenly giving me such an expensive gift?" Jane muttered as she couldn't help but pick up the necklace to examine it.

It was indeed a collector's item, with top-notch gemstone color and excellent cutting and setting craftsmanship.

Suddenly, Anthony's low laugh echoed in her ears.

Jane looked up, puzzled. "What are you laughing at?"

"It won't be worse than my mom's, right?" Anthony said.

Since Ann had given Jane so many gifts, he naturally had to give something too.

Thinking about all the things Ann had done over the past month and the pile of gifts today, he felt a bit embarrassed.

"You two are really wasteful," Jane said, putting the ruby agate necklace back in the brocade box. Although she liked it, she wasn't overly attached to it.

"Don't like it?" Anthony asked Jane.

That couldn't be. He had specifically bid on this necklace because he had learned that Jane liked it very much.

"Liking and owning aren't directly related," Jane said. "Anthony, this necklace isn't mine. Even if you give it to me, I have no legitimate reason to accept it."

She almost lost her mind and forgot what her current relationship with Anthony was.

If they were still in a boyfriend-girlfriend relationship, she could freely accept Anthony's gifts, but they weren't.

"Do you need a legitimate reason to give someone a gift? Jane, if I want to give it to you, I will."

Anthony felt a surge of anger at Jane's rejection of his affectionate gesture.

He had thought their relationship had become much closer over this time, but in reality, Jane was still wary of him.

As he said this, Anthony picked up the necklace and, without giving her a chance to refuse, tried to put it around Jane's neck.

Jane had learned ballet when she was young. She wasn't as tall as a professional model, but her body proportions were excellent, with a slender swan-like neck.

"Anthony!" She wanted to stop him.

"Don't move, be good." Anthony held Jane still.

The red ruby agate necklace fell on her collarbone, looking elegant and luxurious.

Anthony looked at the scene with satisfaction, raising an eyebrow at Jane with a hint of pride. "It's yours now."

Jane thought, 'Is this what you call giving?'

Jane was speechless. She had never seen Anthony so domineering and childish before.

"Anthony, do you know there's a popular practice in this circle?" Jane's fingers traced the ruby, her eyes slightly upturned, her expression carrying a hint of malicious sarcasm.

"What practice?" Anthony asked.

"As long as a woman gets pregnant, the man or the husband's family will give gifts. A small one when she gets pregnant, and a big one when she gives birth. If it's a daughter, they give a small house; if it's a son, they give a big house. Both wives and mistresses get this treatment. It's meant as a reward."

As Jane spoke, Anthony began to understand the implication, his face growing darker.

Anthony said, "I didn't mean to use this necklace as a reward for you."

"Then what do you mean?" Jane mocked herself.

Anthony cupped Jane's chin with one hand, caressing her face.

"I just want to make you happy," Anthony said. "Jane, how could a mere necklace be considered a reward from me? If you want, I can give you shares in the Clark Group. Only assets worth billions are worthy of Ms. Watkins."

When Jane was young, her suitors lined up from Paykston to the South City, from the U.S. to abroad. At that time, Jovan had set a hard condition—to marry Jane, a man must have a net worth of at least a billion dollars; otherwise, he was dreaming to even have that thought. The women of the Watkins family must be pampered.
