Chapter 172 Beating up Brother-in-law!

“When I was in primary school, I was frequently bullied. Lucas, who was four years younger than me and still very small, would come to my classroom and fight boys taller and stronger than him just to stand up for me. Even if he could not win, he was determined to avenge me. We only grew closer when we became part of the Watson family. Initially, my father was quite fond of Lucas since Lucas was his only son. However, Lucas kept defying my father to stand up for me, and as time passed, he gradually lost my father’s favor,” Natalie recounted.

Oliver asked curiously, “What are you trying to say? I don’t think you’re just reminiscing about the past…”

Natalie sat up slightly and looked into Oliver's eyes as she asked earnestly, "Can you allow Lucas to stay at Rosewood Estate? I worry about his safety when he's out."

Oliver smiled wryly. “I don’t have children of my own yet, so you want me to raise a big baby?”

"Oliver, Lucas is remarkably sensible and smart. He's not a baby!" Natalie protested. Since she was asking for a favor, she mustered up a smile and coaxed in a soft voice, “Just for a short while, okay? Once his health stabilizes, I'll find him a place. He’s very independent."

She added earnestly, “He protected me when I needed it most. I have to do the same for him. He’s my only brother.”

Oliver asked, “What kind of place would you like him to live in? I can find a place for him immediately.”

Oliver had numerous properties, apart from Rosewood Estate. He owned five mansions, dozens of villas, and countless apartments.

Natalie complained inwardly, ‘I know you are loaded, but I don’t care about your properties now!’

"I prefer to wait until he recovers before relocating him. Otherwise, I won’t feel at ease,” she responded.

"Natalie, he's battling leukemia, not a common cold. How can you wait for him to recover?" Oliver questioned.

Natalie’s face turned ashen immediately. Lucas was usually lively in front of her, so she often forgot that he was a leukemia patient.

Leukemia, even with chemotherapy, offered no guarantees of full recovery. The specter of danger lingered, ready to resurface at any moment.

Oliver pursed his lips tightly and gently cupped Natalie's face. After a pause, he reluctantly conceded. "He can stay in one of the guest rooms."

Natalie's eyes brightened, and she hugged Oliver. "Thank you, Oliver."

Oliver’s eyes flashed with surprise at the sudden hug and the bright smile on her face. It seemed like his displeasure about Lucas had been swept away. However, he still muttered, “Who cares about your empty gratitude?”

Natalie glanced at Oliver, cleverly pretending to not hear his words and maintaining a smile on her lips.

In life, fortune and misfortune were often intertwined. This time, it seemed like a blessing in disguise. Although she had missed Top Avenue’s finals, she could have Lucas by her side, which was her greatest source of happiness.

Oliver had left during a board meeting earlier, so there were many things that needed his attention now. Jamie went to RK Group to deliver important documents, while he worked in the master bedroom.

Meanwhile, Natalie finally discovered that she was wearing her silk pajamas.

After Oliver left the room to make a phone call, a maid in her forties entered the room.

“Did you help me change?” Natalie asked.

The maid smiled, shaking her head. "Young Madam, it was the young master who helped you change and apply medicine for you. He didn’t want our help.”

Natalie’s face turned red in embarrassment when she heard that Oliver had helped her change.

"Young Madam, the young master really cares about you," the maid said.

"I know," Natalie murmured, sensing his genuine concern for her.

Just one wall away, right outside the door.

Oliver ordered Charles, "Launch a global search for a bone marrow match for Lucas as soon as possible."

Charles was confused. Oliver had long been aware of Lucas’ condition, but he had never displayed any interest previously. He did not understand why Oliver was suddenly concerned about Lucas’ health.

Nonetheless, being a dutiful subordinate, Charles refrained from probing further and promptly took action. Little did he know that Oliver did not care about Lucas and that he just wanted to get rid of the troublesome Lucas as soon as possible.

Meanwhile, the kind Liam accompanied Lucas back to his room and prepared a meal for him before leaving.

When Lucas was alone in the room, he quickly called his attending doctor.

“It’s me.”

"How could you just leave? If something happens to you, our organization will be in trouble!" The doctor sounded like he was about to cry.

"I want to learn combat skills," Lucas stated firmly.

"What?" The doctor sounded baffled.

"I said I want to learn combat skills!" Lucas said impatiently, his determination evident.

"You, who make a living using your brain, why do you want to learn combat skills? What do you need combat skills for? With us protecting you, it should be enough! The illness won't relapse for the time being, but you can’t overexert yourself. How can you learn such things?” the doctor said disapprovingly.

Lucas said, "I want to beat up my sister's husband."

"If you start learning now, I'm afraid you won't be able to beat him in a short time."

"When he gets older, I can surely beat him!"

The doctor finally felt that for once, the sixteen-year-old boy said something impulsive and childish.

"It’s better for you to encourage your sister to get a divorce," the doctor suggested.

Lucas snorted. He could, but Jane said he should stay out of Natalie's relationship. Perhaps he should find a chance to ask for Natalie’s opinion.

"Lucas, there's another thing. MD, HHY, and FIY said that your sister suddenly left during the finals, and they couldn't contact her."

FIY and HHY were giants in the fashion industry, while MD was a little inferior compared to the two. However, all three were considered among the best agencies.

In fact, the three most powerful agencies’ presence at Top Avenue’s finals was all arranged by the power behind Lucas to sign Natalie.

Lucas offered a high price and offered to pay all of Natalie's expenses if the companies successfully signed her. However, Natalie’s earnings would only be split between her and the company. With such a good deal, the three agencies naturally would not refuse. Moreover, Natalie truly had potential.

The doctor continued, "Apart from that, her sudden departure during the competition will likely have a negative impact on her. However, it's strange that so far, there haven't been any online attacks against her. Someone must be controlling the situation."

Lucas felt a twinge of pain in his heart. After all, she had left because of him.

"Increase the offer to the agencies. As long as my sister signs with one of them, the negative impact will be insignificant.”

After hanging up the phone, Lucas went online to check the situation. As expected, there was no negative news about Natalie suddenly leaving. The so-called negative impact only existed within the industry, but it was still a big blow to her career.

‘And it’s all because of me!’

Lucas regretted so much that he wanted to pull out his hair, but he was bald and had nothing to grab onto. It was not difficult to guess who did the damage control. Who could it be but Oliver? Adrian, that scumbag, was definitely not capable of such a thing.
Married to an Ugly Husband? No!
