Chapter 495

Indeed, the Hastings family was convinced that Susan was at fault. They believed that she had intentionally harmed Natalie. After all, who would believe that a woman in a wheelchair would take such risks? For this reason, the family definitely would not agree to go to court.

In short, Natalie held the upper hand.

"Susan, do you recall what I once told you?" Natalie asked.

"What?" Susan's grip on the armrest tightened as her face paled.

"That which doesn't belong to you will never be yours," Natalie said. She paused before she continued, sounding slightly amused, "Certain things, even if I don't want them, will still remain out of your reach."

Susan seethed with hatred as she glared at Natalie. She naturally knew Natalie was talking about Oliver.

Natalie had previously said that even if she were to divorce Oliver, the title of Mrs. Windsor would still remain out of Susan’s reach.

After Natalie skillfully crushed Susan's hopes of ever becoming Mrs. Windsor, she said, maneuvering her wheelchair to the door, "Oliver, you can do as you wish from this point forward. I'm leaving."

She could not stand the sight of Susan. She also wanted to avoid Samuel. Every interaction with him made her feel uneasy. She vaguely felt that there was some connection between her and the Hastings family, and the mere notion was terrifying.

Natalie found herself at a loss for ways to further deal with Susan. She could not force Susan to leave the country; she lacked both the authority and the means. Demand an apology from Susan? This held no appeal to her. It sufficed to have Susan’s true colors exposed and to see Susan lose her standing in the Hastings family. Susan's days as the cherished darling were over. What lay ahead was the hardship of a dramatic fall from grace.

Oliver gestured to a servant, who promptly helped Natalie back to the main building.

Knowing that the issue was still unsolved, Samuel asked, "What do you think, Oliver?"

Samuel knew Oliver would not be easy to deal with.

Susan looked at Oliver with hopeful eyes. She did not believe that he would take action against her. After all, he had vowed to take care of her.

"Susan is nearly the same age as my wife. I believe it's time for her to consider marriage. What do you think, Samuel?" Oliver asked.

The question took Samuel by surprise.

Oliver's question seemed more like a veiled demand.

"Oliver?!" Susan sprang from the couch in shock as she exclaimed, "What… What do you mean by this?! You promised to look after me!”

Samuel almost rolled his eyes in exasperation. Seeing how calm and confident his sister was earlier, refusing to apologize, he assumed that she had some leverage over Natalie or Oliver. However, it seemed like her composure and confidence only stemmed from a promise.

The exact nature of Oliver and Susan's past was not entirely clear to Samuel, but regardless, Natalie was Oliver's wife and Susan was merely a friend. At most, possibly an ex-girlfriend. Even if Oliver promised to look after Susan, how could Susan take precedence over his wife?
Married to an Ugly Husband? No!
