Chapter 947 You Are My Woman

If it weren't for her injuries, Jane would probably be fighting with Anthony right now.

Although she definitely wouldn't win, at least she wouldn't feel so stifled!

"Does it hurt?" Anthony looked into Jane's eyes.

Jane lowered her gaze, "Can you let go of me now?"

Seeing that Anthony didn't move, Jane took a shallow breath and looked up at him again, "Anthony, do you know what happened before I ran into you at the hospital?"

"I know." Anthony felt his throat dry up, "The oatmeal on you was because of Aurora."

Jane, who had been cherished by Anthony through their youthful years, had never taken care of anyone.

"I'm not talking about that." Jane appeared unconcerned about the issue. "Aurora's mother inquired about the distinction between my current behavior and Susan's attempt to sabotage Natalie and Oliver Windsor's marriage.

Anthony was slightly shocked.

"Maybe in their eyes, I'm even worse than Susan." Jane seized the opportunity to push Anthony away, retreating to the side and quickly wrapping herself in a bathrobe.

Only then did Anthony realize that Jane, who seemed to be obediently staying in his arms, had actually been waiting for a chance to break free from him.

"Susan has the Hastings family supporting her, but I no longer have the Watkins family on my side. Furthermore, there's a family feud between us." Jane attempted to keep her emotions in check, as it would be more beneficial for communication and negotiation.

"I will help you find Jovan. You will have the Watkins family in the future." Anthony refuted Jane's earlier statement.

Anthony was almost certain that Jovan's health had actually improved. Jovan's earlier severe condition seemed to have been a facade to handle the situation with him.

"Anthony, I'm not sharing all this to speak ill of anyone or to show self-pity. I don't see myself as pitiful." The bathroom was not an ideal place for a conversation, filled with ambiguity, so Jane left.

“I want to say, Anthony, you have a fiancée and child now. I, Jane, don't want to be the one who breaks up a family. I no longer have feelings for you. Can you please refrain from appearing in front of me for no reason? Do you understand? When you're here, it feels like you're spying on me.

"Jane!" Anthony scolded, unable to bear that Jane belittle herself like that.

"If you want to talk, just talk. Why raise your voice all of a sudden?" Jane frowned in displeasure.

Anthony knew Jane understood his meaning. They had been together for so long and knew each other well.

"Jane, I'm not here to sneak around with you. I don't want you to be someone who destroys other people's families either."

Jane seemed to find it amusing, saying, "You don't want to? Go outside and hear what people are saying about me. But never mind, I don't care much about others' opinions. You can go back and listen to your servants. Anthony, did I disturb your family's ancestral grave in a past life? Why are you clinging onto me like this?”

“It was you who came to the Clark family first," Anthony said sternly.

"This is victim-blaming, Mr. Clark. If it weren't for your mother using my brother to threaten me, do you think stepping into the Clark family would bring me good fortune? I have no interest in being a part of your Clark family.”

Jane was so angry that she pointed randomly in a direction, as if Ann were standing there.

Every time when Jane had come to the Clark family, she felt like someone was stabbing her in the heart.

"Jane, I won't marry Aurora." When it came to reasoning or arguing, Anthony couldn't win against Jane, so he had to drop that topic .

“She's your fiancée and she's carrying your child. If you don't marry her, who will you marry?" Jane was about to add, "Marry whoever you want, I don't care," but she was interrupted when she heard Anthony say, "You.”

Jane didn't react for several seconds.

"Jane," Anthony urged impatiently, "what's that reaction?"

Jane looked at Anthony in confusion, as if she didn't understand what he had said, "What did you say?"

"I said, I'll marry you."

Jane tilted her head and scrutinized Anthony, reminding him, "Anthony, you have a fiancée and she's pregnant."

"I don’t want her." The child in Aurora's belly wasn't his.

“But she is, in fact, your fiancée," Jane stated as she settled onto a single sofa. "Anthony, regardless of your feelings towards her, whether you truly have no intention of marrying her or if you're simply trying to deceive me, the reality remains that she is your fiancée. I don't wish to be involved with someone who is engaged to another.

"Why would I lie to you?" Anthony sounded like he had heard a joke.

"You should ask yourself that," Jane replied.

Anthony had known Jane for many years. Sometimes he really didn't understand what was going on in her mind, like now.

Anthony was telling the truth, but Jane said he was lying and couldn't even explain why she doubted him.

Women, especially Jane who was hard to understand.

"Jane, don't you understand why I can't let you go?" Anthony didn't want to engage in pointless arguments with Jane anymore, so he threw out a straightforward statement.

Jane was stunned for a moment, completely unprepared for Anthony to say something like that.

Jane averted her eyes and said nothing.

"Jane, you're smart. You understand. Don't pretend with me." Anthony was getting impatient.

Before Jane could respond, Anthony took a quick step forward, his tall frame looming over her.

Anthony placed one hand on the back of Jane's sofa and used the other to grip her chin, forcing her to look at him.

"Jane, you are my woman. I won't let you go. Don't even think about it."
