Chapter 735 Rescuing the Situation
While the stylist was working on Natalie's hair and makeup, the production planner informed Natalie about today's shooting content.
Suddenly, an assistant rushed in, gasping for breath.
"Director, something bad happened. The male model can't make it! He got into a car accident and is being rushed to the hospital."
The director's expression froze for a moment, but he was still humane enough to ask about the person, "Is he okay?"
"He has a broken right leg and a minor head injury. It's not life-threatening, but... he won't be able to make it for the next couple of days. With a broken bone, it will take at least a month to recover."
But this endorsement is scheduled to be released by the end of the month, and time is running out.
"Find a replacement!" The person in charge made a quick decision and asked the assistant to select some suitable candidates.
But it's actually not easy to find a replacement. On one hand, they need to match the original candidate from the hospital, and on the other hand, these two days happen to be available.
Natalie glanced at Emily, and Emily signaled for Natalie to stay quiet and wait for the organizers to handle it. There's no need for her to intervene unless the organizers actively ask Natalie for recommendations. In that case, they would owe her a favor.
In America, Natalie's network and understanding of models were indeed much better than those foreign guys in the endorsement group. Oliver dropped Natalie off at the set and went back to his car nearby. He handled business matters while keeping an eye on Natalie.
"Natalie, can we see the bodyguard who brought you in?" The director approached Natalie. Although Oliver had left a few minutes ago, his appearance and demeanor were outstanding. The director couldn't find a suitable male model and thought of the handsome guy who had just brought Natalie in.
This shoot was originally Natalie's lead role, and the male model was just a supporting character. If the male model was truly suitable, even if they were a newcomer, it wouldn't matter.
The director thought that Natalie would agree instantly. After all, she had her own studio now, and it would be great if she could bring her own male model.
"No need, director. He doesn't want to enter this industry," Natalie apologized.
The director looked puzzled. "So, he...wants to continue being a bodyguard?"
Natalie couldn't help but smile at the mention of "bodyguard," but she nodded seriously. "Yes, he wants to be a bodyguard."
As my personal bodyguard.
The director thought for a moment. With that outstanding appearance, if he really wanted to enter the modeling industry, he would have been recruited long ago; there was no reason for him to still be a bodyguard wearing sunglasses.
Ah, such a good image, what a pity!
"Do you have any other suitable recommendations?" The director approached Natalie as expected.
Natalie looked at Emily and they exchanged a glance. Natalie said, "Alright, let me think about it."
In fact, Natalie already had several backup options in her mind, and Barrett was among them.
Although Barrett had a big mouth, his professional skills were quite good. The main reason he hadn't fully opened the doors to the international stage was because his height was only 185cm, which was considered short among international male models. However, height didn't matter for this endorsement; it was just about taking photos and filming promotional videos.
However, Natalie had been planning to give the job to Barrett, who had sent her money multiple times, but fate didn't allow it--
Just as the director's team was at a loss, an employee rushed in excitedly. "Director, Joseph is here! He says he's here to help!"
"Who did you say?" The director couldn't believe it.
"Joseph!"
In terms of experience and connections, Joseph was higher than Natalie.
"Does he know that the male model in this endorsement is just a supporting role and the endorsement fee isn't high?"
(Note: The last sentence does not explicitly state if Joseph knows or not.
"Understood," he said, "he said he came to help Yan."
The director went from shock to excitement, looking at Natalie with the eyes of a lucky goddess.
Natalie: "??"
Wait, when did I ask Joseph for help?
Could it be... he found out himself and volunteered?
"Joseph, you handle the contract and find someone to deal with my agent. I'll go to prepare the styling," Joseph, tall and with long legs, walked in and got straight to the point.
Joseph was the name of the director for this endorsement shoot.
The director smiled and nodded repeatedly, his eyes almost completely shut.
This unexpected joy, anything you want is fine!
He even started to imagine that after this project, he would surely cause a sensation in the circle—having Joseph, Europe's number one male supermodel, as a foil, who wouldn't be honored by that?
Although he didn't earn this honor himself, it didn't matter!
Joseph nodded, and from the moment he entered, his peripheral vision had been on Emily, who was sitting in the corner.
While discussing with the director, his gaze was openly fixed on Emily, his eyes deep.
"Wait!" Natalie quickly interrupted, "Director, can I... talk to Cen?"
"Sure, sure!" The director happily made arrangements and plans, completely immersed in joy.
Natalie anxiously looked at Emily, knowing without a doubt that Joseph came for Emily. He willingly downgraded himself to a supporting role, surely also for Emily's sake.
Natalie gathered Emily and Joseph together in a secluded area with no one around, taking advantage of others not paying attention, and quietly left to give the two enough private space to talk.
"What are you peeking at?"
A hand suddenly reached over and pinched her cheek from behind.
Natalie's body barely turned when a hand supported her waist and she spun around in the other person's embrace.
Oliver had walked over from the car at some point, took off his sunglasses, and revealed his flawless handsome face.
Joseph's eyesight is really good! Natalie couldn't help but comment.
"I wasn't peeking!" Natalie rolled her eyes at Oliver, as if she was someone who would peek?
But, she did pay a little attention to Joseph and Emily just now, afraid that they might have a conflict.
Luckily, the two were just standing there talking. However, even if Natalie couldn't hear what they were saying, she could sense that the atmosphere was not very good.
"There's nothing interesting to see." Oliver held Natalie's hand and walked towards the car.
Opening the car door, he stuffed the person inside and got in from the other side himself, opening a bottle of juice for Natalie.
The juice was prepared by the chef and had added folic acid, which pregnant women need.
It was now mid-summer, and although the forest park in this country was much cooler than outside, it was still hot compared to the air-conditioned car.
"I'm just afraid Emily and Joseph will conflict," Natalie said as she got into the car and couldn't see Joseph and Emily anymore.
"They won't fight," Oliver replied. If it weren't for Natalie, he wouldn't want to waste a word on those unimportant people, let alone analyze the situation. "Joseph can't bear to hit Emily, and her upbringing won't allow her to fight back."
Even if there were conflicts between the two, at most it would be just verbal, with no physical contact.
