Chapter 685 Natalie's New Husband

The only evidence Natalie provided was an audio recording, beyond which there was nothing else. Susan's used this chance to raise concerns about the recording, even hinting that it could have been tampered with or created later by professionals.

The trial paused for a break, allowing the jury to deliberate.

While the proceedings paused, Natalie and Susan locked eyes from a distance of more than ten meters. After a brief two-second gaze, Susan icily averted her eyes.

Natalie had the feeling Susan wanted to say something, but she knew that in the courtroom, Susan did not have the right or the status to speak.

After the judges concluded their sidebar discussion, they resumed their positions in the courtroom.

As the plaintiff, Natalie didn't have to speak. She casually looked around the room until her eyes landed on Oliver, who was sitting in the spectator section watching her. His gaze was faint, which, combined with his handsome features and imposing presence, could easily give someone the impression of arrogance. But Natalie knew that at that moment, he had eyes only for her. It made her anxious heart settle down considerably.

The defense presentation lasted the entire day, and the trial adjourned without a verdict. Despite the challenging circumstances for Susan, she shot Natalie a sarcastic glance on her way out, seemingly conveying, 'Despite all this chaos, I remain untouched.'

With the Hastings family involved, a quick resolution was unlikely, and the case might even be followed by an appeal.

"Natalie, how was the trial today? Are you confident about winning the case?" one reporter asked.

"The Hastings family claims you are spreading rumors. What is your response to that?" another inquired.

"Natalie, is it true that there's a deep-seated resentment between you and Susan? Is this lawsuit a deliberate action on your part?" another reporter added.

As soon as Natalie stepped outside, she was immediately surrounded by journalists. Fortunately, Oliver, with his foresight, had arranged bodyguards in advance.

"My client has the right to remain silent, and I would also ask you not to cause trouble outside the courtroom!" Natalie's defense lawyer gave the reporters a condescending look as they asked nonsensical questions about the ongoing case. How could anyone expect meaningful answers to such inquiries from those involved?

The entertainment reporters silently agreed that it was impossible to answer questions about the crucial aspects of the case.

The reporters immediately started to ask other questions.

"Natalie, can you reveal who your current husband is?"

"Natalie, there are rumors that you successfully terminated your contract and set up your own personal studio because you have a new financial backer. What do you have to say about this?" a reporter probed.

"Natalie, you and Oliver kept a low profile while together, but now you go on couple's dates with your new husband. Does this mean that your relationship with Oliver was truly devoid of affection, as the rumors suggest?" another reporter prodded.

"Natalie, aren't you afraid of offending Mr. Windsor with your actions now?" a different reporter inquired.

A barrage of sharp gossip questions rained down on Natalie.

From a distance, Natalie caught sight of Oliver's new Rolls-Royce. She breathed a sigh of relief as she smoothly got into the car, thanks to the path cleared by her bodyguards.

"Why don't they hassle Susan?" Natalie couldn't help but complain.

The response to her concern was clear; Susan faced charges of attempted murder, raising fears of potential harm to others. Additionally, Natalie was at the peak of her career, and she was a prime source of gossip and sensational news.

The journalists thought they had Natalie cornered, but what they hadn’t counted on was the nearly twenty-person strong team of bodyguards she had brought with her.

The car window featured one-way glass, allowing one to see out from the inside but not vice versa.

Oliver glanced down at the journalists. The bodyguards he arranged for Natalie were equipped with recorders, and he had just reviewed every word said by those entertainment reporters.

As for Susan's case, Oliver and Natalie tacitly agreed not to discuss it any further.

"The current concern is that the defense may produce a certification of insanity if they lose the case," the lawyer warned Natalie and Oliver.

In cases of mental illness, individuals who harm others would not be legally responsible, a loophole that unscrupulous individuals often try to exploit to evade punishment.

Oliver hooked his lips indifferently, "If the Hastings family can really fabricate that proof for her, I'll make her truly lose her mind."
