Chapter 860 You Are My Honey
Oliver's voice was cold and hard, with a natural sense of dignity when he spoke. However, whenever Oliver wanted to coax someone, his voice would become soft and gentle, extremely soothing and alluring.
Just like now.
It made people's brains stop thinking and simply obey him.
The next day was a bright day.
"Oliver, Natalie, someone from the Hastings family has sent a letter for you," Jamie reported.
Oliver didn't say anything, he took Natalie's coat and some spare clothes for the flight later.
She was sensitive to cold, and the constant temperature of 26 degrees on the plane was a bit low for her.
"I don't want to see them," Natalie said lightly, "I have no relationship with the Hastings family, they don't need to come and deliver anything."
Jamie nodded while thinking to himself that Natalie's words were pleasing to hear. If it were Oliver speaking, it would mean that the Hastings family had no right to deliver anything.
"Oh right!" As Jamie turned to leave, Natalie suddenly stopped him, "Was the person delivering the letter Samuel?"
"No," Jamie paused and said, "If it were Samuel, he wouldn't be delivering letters."
Natalie smiled and agreed.
The Hastings family had a tradition of exchanging letters, but Samuel was an exception to this habit!
Samuel in the Hastings family was like a misfit, but a comfortable one.
This time, they were flying back to Paykston on Oliver's private plane.
However, due to a stormy weather, all flights at the airport were delayed.
"I'll go to the restroom." Being pregnant, Natalie found the problem of frequent need to urinate more is more disgusting than that of late-stage body swelling.
Natalie stood up, and seeing Oliver also standing up, she smiled helplessly, "This is a VIP lounge, nothing unexpected will happen here. You don't have to follow me. You make me feel like I'm a disabled child."
Oliver wasn't too pleased, but he opposed Natalie on such minor matters to avoid upsetting her.
Pregnant Natalie's temper had become more irritable than before.
The restroom was only a few steps away, so there was no problem.
As Natalie emerged from the restroom stall, she suddenly stopped, with her stiffened body, and her hand resting on the stall door tightened slightly.
She watched the person in front of the sink warily.
"Mrs. Hastings."
Helen was dressed elegantly, but her complexion was poor, with a noticeable swelling on her left face and a hint of bruising at the corner of her mouth, as if she had been slapped.
"Natalie, I'd like to talk to you," Helen noticed Natalie's pale hands and said, "You don't need to be so nervous, I won't do anything to you. After all, I'm your mother."
Natalie's rationality told her that in this situation, Helen wouldn't do anything to her because Oliver was outside.
From their many previous encounters, although Helen was ruthless, but she cared a lot about her reputation. Every time she targeted Natalie in the past with other people’s help, trying not to tarnish her own reputation. The elevator incident was a lesson for her. She underestimated Oliver’s vigilance and intelligence.
Women like Helen, who had lived a life of luxury since their youth and continued to do so after marriage, had never faced hardship. They were afraid of suffering, and Helen was particularly fearful of being caught by Oliver if she acted out again, as she could not bear the severe consequences.
"Mrs. Hastings, I've been in the restroom for five minutes. If I don't come out in another five minutes, Oliver should come in," Natalie's hand remained on the stall door, ready to close it at any moment and keep Helen outside.
"Do you think I would harm you?" Helen asked incredulously, as if she had been emotionally hurt.
Natalie calmly replied, "Have you harmed me any less? If you don't remember, I can give you examples."
Helen's expression changed slightly. Although seeing Natalie's face made her feel disgusted, she couldn't deny that Natalie was her biological daughter, the child she had given birth to.
When Natalie was a baby, Helen had been very loving towards her, wanting to give the best to her little princess.
If it wasn’t for Emma raising Natalie by her side since she was young, Helen would have loved Natalie dearly.
So Helen thought to herself that it wasn't unreasonable for her to prefer Susan, the adopted daughter, over Natalie, her biological daughter.
She wasn't wrong, if she had to blame someone, it would be the deceased Emma!
"Natalie, I came to discuss Susan's matter with you. If you agree to my proposal from yesterday, I will persuade Susan to donate bone marrow to Lucas," Helen said.
So, Helen hadn't planned for Susan to donate bone marrow yet?
Natalie suddenly found it absurd and wanted to laugh, but couldn't.
Helen's behaviors as a mother had left Natalie's heart numb with pain.
Natalie knew that a mother could be indifferent to her biological daughter to this extent.
"Mrs. Hastings, I suddenly feel grateful for all the cruel things you've done to me," Natalie said with a self-deprecating smile, "Because you've shown me the dark side of human nature repeatedly, making it hard for me to forgive you easily, which is why I have no expectations of you as my so-called mother."
Were there really no expectations at all?
Helen's body stiffened.
It was at this moment that Helen realized that deep down, she had always believed that Natalie would eventually return to the Hastings family on her own, willingly acknowledging her as her mother. But now, Natalie's disdain for the identity of "the Hastings family" meant she wouldn't need it in the future.
Only now did Helen hear Natalie say these words and understand - Natalie truly wouldn't come back, nor would she acknowledge her as her mother.
In Natalie's eyes, Helen would probably always be just "Mrs. Hastings."
"Mrs. Hastings, please leave," Natalie checked the time on her phone, "You have one more minute. If you don't leave soon, Oliver will come."
"Natalie, do you really trust Oliver like this? Natalie, as someone with experience, you see, even people like James can cheat, let alone Oliver?" Helen said excitedly, "Natalie, listen to your mother's advice. Men are not to be trusted, the Hastings family is your support!"
Natalie looked at Helen, feeling puzzled.
Why did Helen suddenly start advising her as a mother? Was it a sudden outburst of maternal love or a moment of conscience?
However, none of that mattered.
"Mrs. Hastings, you are not my mother, and the Hastings family is not my home," Natalie pointed to the door, with her cold face, warning, "Are you leaving or not? You should know that Oliver has a temper."
