Chapter 336 Do you think I'm afraid of you?

Microphones and cameras were thrown to the ground with force, breaking apart as they hit the ground. This chaotic scene caused reporters to exclaim in shock and disbelief. One reporter, who had earlier provoked Natalie, was struck by a microphone, drawing attention to himself.

"Roger? Is that Roger?"

"Why is Roger here?"

A brief silence enveloped the crowd as they turned their attention to the newcomer, their expressions filled with surprise.

Indeed, the person who had appeared was Roger. This marked the first occasion he presented himself before the media in a casual leather jacket, forsaking his usual suit. This attire did not convey the refined elegance he was known for but instead, he emitted a fierce and imposing aura.

Roger, with one hand, held Natalie close, while his other hand threw a camera to the ground. His expression was icy and his gaze was dark, revealing his anger.

Natalie, taken aback by Roger's sudden intervention, found herself at a loss for words.

"Roger..." she called out, uncertain of the emotions stirring within her.

"Don’t be scared. I’m here,” Roger whispered to her in a voice only she could hear as he smiled reassuringly.

The contrast between the Roger who faced the reporters and the one who faced Natalie was stark, showcasing two very different sides of him.

"Roger, this can be considered an assault!” a reporter shouted angrily, pointing at the damaged equipment scattered on the ground.

Despite the chaos, photographers continued to capture images of Roger and Natalie together - the famous Roger Wild hugging Mrs. Windsor would fuel another sensational story.

"So what? Do you think I’m afraid of you?” Roger retorted with a sneer, his disdain palpable as he surveyed the crowd. He reached out and destroyed another camera.

The sound of the camera breaking as it hit the ground echoed loudly.

"What are you doing? I didn’t provoke you!” another reporter exclaimed in a voice mix with anger and fear.

Roger merely scoffed in response, opting not to engage further with the reporters. In his opinion, it was justified to destroy the equipment that hurt Natalie.

"Natalie, do you want to say anything to them?” Roger asked, gently looking down at Natalie within his protective embrace.

"No," Natalie responded with a head shake. She believed it was not the time for words, as anything she said could be misconstrued.

The reporters' pens and the media's narratives were akin to sharp weapons!

"Get out of the way," Roger demanded, his gaze on the reporters obstructing their path. His imposing demeanor prompted some reporters from smaller media outlets to involuntarily step aside.

At this time, Emily and the others managed to push through the crowd, positioning themselves in front of Natalie to shield her.

"Natalie! Are you hurt? Oh, no, they hurt you," Emily exclaimed, noticing a red mark on Natalie's face, which was a result of a reporter’s earlier carelessness. It would definitely turn into a bruise later.

Natalie lightly touched her face.

The reporters were startled by this, craning their necks to get a better look. They hesitated, wary of assuming responsibility for her injury, and refrained from advancing further.

At this time, a reporter from a major media outlet asked boldly, “Mr. Wild, why are you here instead of Mr. WIndsor?”

Roger, initially focused on protecting Natalie, paused to address the question with a sneer, "Perhaps that's a question better suited for Oliver."

These words left the reporter speechless.

Roger continued, “If you have the guts, go find Oliver. Do you feel more powerful harassing a woman? It's disappointing to see such a decline in media standards."

As Roger led Natalie away, Emily signaled Sophia and Lilian to follow, staying behind to issue a stern warning to the reporters responsible for Natalie's discomfort.

"Expect legal action for any harm caused to Natalie, accidental or otherwise."

The reporters exchanged nervous looks, none daring to respond. Emily's reputation for being protective and decisive was well-known.

Upon reaching a safe location, Natalie expressed her gratitude to Roger for his help, withdrawing from his protective embrace.

“Roger, thanks for helping me.”

As she disentangled herself from the emotions surrounding Oliver and Susan's situation, she looked up and met Roger’s intense and dark eyes, causing her heart to flutter. She frowned, puzzled by her reaction.

“Roger..." Natalie began, her voice trailing off as she sought the right words.

"You're welcome," Roger replied, snapping back to the present moment.

Natalie remembered the intensity of Roger's gaze, and she felt uneasy. She locked her lips as she tried to organize her thoughts and said, “Why… Why are you so good to me? I don’t understand this. Although I helped you at the hospital, it’s still not normal for a regular friend to go to such lengths, right? Are you…”

She paused again, her uncertainty evident, before she said, “Roger, you’re a good person, but I’m married…”

Roger laughed at her words. He was known as a decisive and fierce businessman, and as an assassin, he was hardly ever described as a ‘good person’. He affectionately ruffled Natalie's hair as he said reassuringly, “Don’t worry. It’s not what you think.”

Roger's feelings were complex. He wanted Natalie, but above all else, he wanted her to be happy and safe.

‘It seems like he doesn’t like me in that way…’

Natalie sighed in relief when she heard these words. Then, she smiled awkwardly at him and asked, “Can’t you tell me why you’re so good to me?”

"First, let’s go to the hospital to check your injury out. I’ll answer you after that,” Roger replied. Nothing was more important than her well-being. Moreover, as a model, her appearance was very important.

Natalie agreed, understanding the importance of appearance.

A spacious 7-seater SUV was arranged to accommodate everyone comfortably.

Sophia and Lilian, seated at the back, were silent throughout the journey.

Sophia was worried about Natalie. When she glanced at Roger, she saw the reproach in her gaze, clearly unhappy she did not protect Natalie well.

On the other hand, Lilian was lost in her own gloomy thoughts. She wanted to speak but hesitated several times. She wanted to comfort Natalie but was worried that Natalie was still angry at her. After all, Natalie had ignored her since earlier. Finally, she said, “Natalie, I’m on your side.”

“Huh?” Natalie, whose mind was not on this matter, looked at Lilian in confusion.

“I’m on your side!” Lilian said firmly, patting Natalie’s shoulder, “If Oliver is really involved with Susan, I won’t take his side!”

“Hmm,” Natalie replied softly. She felt tears welling up in her eyes, so she quickly turned to look out the window.

She had checked her phone earlier. Oliver’s appearance at Susan’s show had already been captured by the media. It would not be long before all of them would be dragged into the entertainment news again. Moreover, there was still the revelation from Hailey.

Natalie should have felt comforted and happy that there was still someone protecting her, but at this moment, she only felt a deep sense of desolation.
