Chapter 249 Foolish Beauty
The problem doesn’t lie in Oliver being too calm and composed, instead, it's the seamless execution of this trap. At the same time, Oliver's trusted subordinates and brothers have all lost contact.
Everything happened after Oliver "got into trouble," which seems incredibly coincidental.
Oliver is certainly not the type to sit and wait for death. Even if he can ensure his innocence, in a cunning and ruthless family like this, he should at least hire a top-notch lawyer to assist him.
Let's think from a different perspective.
What if Oliver is, in fact, the one in control of the situation? What is his purpose behind all of this? Natalie doesn't have enough information to make a valid judgment at the moment.
Perhaps, only Oliver himself, the person directly involved, knows the extent of his actions and his true intentions.
As Natalie walked along, she suddenly realized something—she had been worried and anxious inside, blurting out all sorts of things. Could it be that Oliver, that jerk, was intentionally trying to get her to say those things?
He really seemed like he was trying to trap her into admitting that she cared about him!
Natalie thought once everything settled down and Oliver came out, she would surely scold that jerk. Otherwise, he might think she was easy to bully!
Lucas, despite having ongoing classes at school, managed to obtain permission to skip the crucial sessions due to his exceptional grades and professorial favoritism. With the green light, he promptly abandoned the remaining classes and zoomed off in his recently acquired Ferrari, steering toward the residential area Natalie had specified.
Just before reaching the residential area, Lucas suddenly remembered his image as a "good little brother and diligent student" and made a phone call. He asked the organization's people to quickly come and fetch his beloved car. He pretended to have taken the subway and walked the rest of the way.
Lucas was bored while waiting when he saw a petite figure with golden short hair walking briskly toward him.
Her eyes were fixed on her phone, her steps were hurried and clumsily. When she raised her head to look at her path, she revealed an exquisitely cute baby face, resembling that of a middle schooler.
Could it be...the woman in the photo his sister sent him?
Lucas glanced at his phone and confirmed it.
He walked over with big strides.
"Where are you headed?" Lucas blocked her path.
"How do I get to Paykston Police Station?" Lilian instinctively asked. After asking the question, she finally raised her head, tilting it up to see a handsome face. The boy had a crew cut, which was rare for someone his age.
Lucas adopted a relaxed stance, leaning with an easy nonchalance, his striking and determined countenance exuding a touch of roguish allure.
Lilian was momentarily stunned, and two words popped into her mind: so cool!
Lucas had grown taller during this period, now standing at six feet tall. He looked down at the 5 feet 3 inches Lilian to establish eye contact.
"Lilian, you're a fool!" Lucas exclaimed, not holding back his disappointment. "No wonder my sister told me to keep an eye on you."
"Are you talking about me? Did you just call me a fool?" Lilian questioned, doubting whether she had misheard. How could this handsome guy she just met insult her like this?
Lucas grabbed Lilian's wrist and started walking toward the direction of her apartment.
"Hey! Who are you? Let go of me! Are you a kidnapper? Let go of me, or I'll call the police!" Lilian, already worried about Oliver, was now grabbed by a stranger. Tears welled up in her eyes.
Lucas hated it when women cried. Why couldn't they be like his sister, who never shed a tear? He found it annoying when women cried over little things.
"Silence, or else I'll use duct tape to seal your mouth!" Lucas wasn’t fond of Oliver. So naturally, he wasn’t fond of Oliver's cousin either.
Jamie secured a high-end apartment for Lilian in Paykston. Although the lease agreement mentioned deducting rent from Lilian's salary, Natalie discreetly subsidized half of it to ensure Lilian had some income left.
"Help! He's a bad person, he wants to kidnap me!" As soon as they reached the entrance gate, Lilian complained to the security guard.
The security guard immediately picked up his baton, being cautious as he looked at Lucas. "Who are you? Let go of this girl!"
Having served in this community for five or six years, he had never seen this boy's face before. It was obvious that he was a stranger. On the other hand, he had seen this girl several times, but she had only recently moved in.
"Kidnap? She's my girlfriend. We had a little disagreement, so she wanted to run away from home." Lucas smirked, holding Lilian's waist with one hand and lifting her into his embrace. "Her name is Lilian, sixteen years old, not a local, and she lives in 1304. Please check if I'm right."
"Who said I’m your girlfriend? Stop making things up!" Lilian blushed and struggled. How could this person act so convincingly?
The security guard observed the two skeptically. They somewhat resembled a young couple caught in a disagreement.
After checking their information, the security guard found that everything Lucas said was true. Not a single detail was wrong.
"Young girl, this is your fault. Running away like this as a minor, don’t you think it’ll trouble your family?" The security guard opened the gate and let the two inside.
"I'm not! I... Mmm!" Lilian tried to hold onto the pillar of the security booth. Lucas, realizing her intention, covered her mouth with one hand and wrapped his other arm around her thigh, carrying her inside.
Lilian's eyes widened with panic.
"Where is room 1304?" Lucas finally released her mouth after they had walked a little farther.
Lilian was shocked. This person carried her with just one hand. Is he really that strong?
"Speak up! Otherwise, I'll drop you down. You really deserve the fall!" Lucas threatened, playfully patting her to give her a scare.
"On the left!" Lilian, frightened, quickly wrapped her arms around Lucas's neck.
Lucas felt a wave of feminine scent hit him, with soft breasts pressing against his shoulder.
He involuntarily froze, feeling uncomfortable, and put Lilian down.
Lucas felt a bit awkward and annoyed, holding onto Lilian's wrist as they walked toward the apartment.
"Who are you? I don't know you! I'm not your girlfriend, you human trafficker! How dare you bully me? My cousin won't let you get away with it!"
"Your cousin can't even protect himself, and you expect him to come and save you?"
The apartment door had a fingerprint lock. Lucas took Lilian's index finger, pressed it against the lock, and opened the door. He pushed Lilian inside and closed the door behind him.
