Chapter 110 Distracting Attention
Although they were forced into this marriage, Natalie felt that Oliver had fulfilled his duties as a husband and protected her.
Not counting Jane and Flora, this was the first time that someone had treated her this way.
“Young Madam, why don’t you personally thank the young master?” Liam suggested.
Natalie naturally knew that personally thanking Oliver would be more sincere than asking Charles to do it for her. However, she was not in a rush to act immediately after the embarrassing situation at RK Group previously.
As such, she shook her head at Liam’s suggestion.
Charles was just about to say okay when he saw Liam looking at him meaningfully. He changed his words immediately, saying, “Young Madam, I still think it’s best for you to thank him personally. I’m afraid I might say the wrong thing. Why don’t you follow me to the company?”
Natalie quickly said, “I’ll just wait for him to come home. I don’t want to disturb him at work.”
"He might not come back tonight…"
…
In the end, Natalie ended up following Charles back to the company.
After Natalie got into the car and Charles closed the door for her, Liam said with a smile, “Charles, you’ve grown more impressive!”
"It’s all thanks to your guidance,” Charles replied.
Liam only chuckled in response.
…
The Maybach stopped outside of the RK Group building.
Natalie looked at the grand and magnificent lobby and could not help but ask, "Charles, does he usually work here?"
Charles nodded in confirmation.
Natalie was not surprised.
Many of the employees watched as a beautiful woman wearing a white T-shirt and jeans walked in with Charles. She held the mahogany food container that Charles usually brought to the boss. It could also be seen that Charles was very respectful to her.
After the duo entered the VIP elevator, the front desk staff recovered from their astonishment.
"Did I imagine? Is that woman bringing the boss lunch?”
“I don’t think so. That was Natalie, right? She’s even more beautiful in person!”
"Who is Natalie?" someone asked, puzzled.
"Didn't you go online at all? Previously, someone accused her of having a sugar daddy and using her connections to enter the finals in on Top Avenue. However, later, it was revealed that she’s married and… Holy cow! Don’t tell me she’s the boss’ wife?!”
One of the front desk staff was present during Natalie's last visit, and she quickly recounted what happened to her colleagues.
“I actually left a hate comment before this. I better delete it! I had no idea she was the boss’ wife!”
“I thought Natalie and Jane were a couple before this…”
“Well, she’s not; she’s with the boss. Moreover, Jane used to have a fiancé…”
"Jane had a fiancé?! Who is it?"
"I don't know, but there were rumors that he was the one who brought about the downfall of the Watkins family…"
…
The moment Natalie stepped into the building, she could feel gazes coming at her from all directions. However, she was not worried about it. These people worked in a big company and were not fools. Even if they were gossiping, they knew better than to spread it around since it would cost them their jobs.
"Young Madam, the young master’s office is right there,” Charles said. He clearly did not intend to lead her into the office.
"Okay, thank you, Charles."
"It's my pleasure."
Charles felt a bit guilty tricking her here.
The food box was a bit heavy, so she switched it to her other hand. She quickly knocked on the door.
After knocking, she heard a low, melodious voice saying, "Come in."
Natalie froze the moment she pushed open the door. She happened to overhear someone saying, "My daughter admires you a lot, and she speaks foreign languages as well. I'm sure both of you will have plenty to talk about when you meet."
Meanwhile, Oliver raised an eyebrow, somewhat surprised when he saw Natalie. After all, he was expecting Charles to deliver his meal.
Seeing the middle-aged man sitting across from Oliver, engaged in a discussion, Natalie felt slightly embarrassed. She did not expect Oliver to be in a meeting. However, she quickly regained her composure, she said apologetically, ready to leave, “I’m sorry. I didn’t know you were meeting someone.”
"Come here."
Oliver beckoned.
Natalie hesitated for a moment. Seeing that the middle-aged man was looking at her, she smiled and nodded politely before she walked over to Oliver.
Oliver tapped the desk and said, “Michael intends to introduce his daughter to me as a companion for Hailey and Adrian’s engagement party.”
Only then did Natalie noticed the pink invitation card on the table with a large bow tie and gilded letters.
Natalie blinked, understanding that Michael was trying to be a matchmaker for his daughter. She also understood Oliver’s meaning.
Oliver was Adrian’s uncle, so he definitely had to attend the engagement party. However, those people did not know that Oliver was Simon Frost, so Oliver definitely could not bring Michael’s daughter to the wedding.
Oliver did not want to offend Michael, so he wanted her to help him fend off his admirers.
"Michael, hello. May I ask how many foreign languages your daughter can speak?" Natalie asked with a polite smile.
Michael looked at Natalie suspiciously, thinking that she was rude for interrupting their conversation. He said, “Are you an assistant? My daughter speaks Spanish very well. She spent four or five years in Madrid.”
"That's nothing to be proud of," Natalie said bluntly, “Apart from basic communication and social skills, one has to be fluent in more languages to be his companion…”
Michael’s eyes widened in anger. “What right do you have to belittle my daughter?!”
Natalie looked around before she walked to the bookshelf, picking two French and Spanish books. She glanced at the books before she placed them in front of Michael and fluently read out a few passages.
Michael did not understand French, but he could tell Natalie was not faking it.
"Michael, as an assistant, I possess both looks and fluency in both Spanish and French. My memory is also fairly good. Do you think I’m more suitable as a companion or your daughter?” Natalie asked with a smile.
Michael’s face paled. After all, the purpose of his visit today was to matchmaker his daughter and Oliver, who was young, capable, and handsome.
