Chapter 671 Awaiting Trial

CEO Torres had a bad feeling about this unexpected visitor, so he tried to play it cool, saying they were just casually discussing company matters.

Isaac nodded, "Oh, I see. I thought you might have been talking about Natalie."

The executives at HHY all looked mortified.

Isaac didn't care about their discomfort; he could guess from their reactions that they had indeed been talking about Natalie. He chuckled, "I'm here today to discuss Ms. Natalie's contract termination with your company."

CEO Torres's heart sank, sensing the shaky grip on the thirty million was slipping away. "What guidance could Isaac possibly have for us?" he asked.

"It's not guidance, per se," Isaac said as he approached, "I just came to ask, CEO Torres, how is Natalie's contract termination proceeding?"

CEO Torres mused internally about the progress of the negotiations. Although it was a struggle, he secretly hoped they might be able to make it impossible to resolve and even aim to get thirty million dollars.

"This..." CEO Torres had barely began to speak when Isaac cut him off.

Isaac could tell what the savvy old foxes were thinking just by their reaction. "CEO Torres, let's not beat around the bush, shall we? We're all smart here, so let's just lay it all out on the table."

CEO Torres replied, "Go ahead." Although he did not truly want to hear anything that Isaact had to say.

"I don't need to spell out what kind of person my sister-in-law Natalie is; we both know perfectly well. If it weren't for your company's mistreatment, Natalie wouldn't have had to strike out on her own at the peak of her career.

"You're talking nonsense with this thirty million, I think even ten million is squeezing her dry. If you have any sense, just terminate the contract cleanly and don't make it difficult for her. And cut out the sneaky behavior behind the scenes,” Isaac remarked, cooly.

Isaac nearly slipped up by referring to Natalie as his "sister-in-law."

Seeing CEO Torres stand there, stunned and without response, Isaac asked impatiently, "Don't you understand?" Isaac considered himself to be patient, but he strongly disliked spending much time talking to fools.

"Isaac's meaning... I got it," the pale-faced CEO Torres of HHY conceded. He realized why all the groundless slander they had flung at Natalie had been ineffective; Isaac had been backing her all along!

The other executives were also embarrassed, realizing they had inadvertently transgressed against someone important.

"Good that you understand," Isaac said as he turned to leave. Walking out he remarked, "Make sure no one knows about my visit. HHY is indeed impressive, but in comparison to RK Entertainment and RK Group, it might not be quite up to par. You get what I'm saying, right CEO Torres?"

"Absolutely clear!" CEO Torres replied, his forehead beaded with cold sweat. "Isaac, may I be so bold as to ask if Miss Watson is with you..."

"Shut up!" Isaac scolded. For a moment, Isaac felt as though a knife was held against his throat, chillingly close.

Thank goodness he had come alone, his brother hadn't accompanied him, or else he would have been done for!

"Watch your words. There are things you shouldn't speak of and assumptions you shouldn't make. Keep your dirty thoughts to yourself, or no one will be able to save you or your HHY!" Isaac gave a final stern warning before departing.

After pondering for a while, one of the members of HHY's upper management tentatively asked, "Could it be that Natalie... got back together with Oliver? Only Oliver could incite such wariness in Isaac. If they haven't reconciled, I can't see what else would prompt Isaac to make a personal visit."

It is true that Isaac could have sent an underling to handle today’s business, but since he showed up in person, it spoke volumes about how seriously he took matters concerning Natalie.

With just RK Entertainment on its own, HHY Corporation might have been able to mount a defense, since the primary battlefields of the two companies were different. RK Entertainment would need time to orchestrate a move against HHY, a leeway which the latter could use to prepare.

However, RK Entertainment was just a tiny part of the RK Group! If Isaac was right, and RK Group was backing Natalie, HHY Corporation's resistance would be as futile as a mantis trying to stop a chariot, leading to its own destruction.

What else could they do except to bow to the emperor-like force?

The phone call from the company asking her to sign the termination agreement came as a huge shock to Natalie. She wasn't the only one stunned; Emily Reed was taken aback as well. They had braced for a grueling battle, yet victory came so swiftly.

Emily Reed, along with her lawyer, reviewed the termination agreement multiple times to ensure there were no traps or loopholes. Once they were satisfied, both parties signed.

From that moment, Natalie was no longer an employee of HHY Corporation.

"Natalie, I wish you the best of luck," said a high-ranking HHY executive who came to sign the termination document, forcing a smile. "Any unpleasantness about the termination was just a misunderstanding, and we hope to work together again if the chance arises."

The subtext was clear. They were seeking peace, hoping Natalie wouldn't hold a grudge.

With the opposition's attitude so conciliatory, and now that she had the satisfactory termination agreement in hand, Natalie calmly asked, "I'm wondering, why did you suddenly change your mind?"

It wasn't that she was overthinking; just yesterday, old Mrs. Windsor had mentioned buying the company.

"We were... well...," the executive stuttered.

Emily Reed’s sharp eyes made the executive falter as he struggled to gauge Natalie’s mood, afraid of offending her. "Miss Watson, it’s true that someone gave us a few firm words, but we weren’t threatened, of course. We simply realized that our previous actions were unethical."

"Oliver?" Natalie inquired.

The executive’s face changed, and he shook his head firmly. "Not Mr. Windsor. Miss Watson, to put it bluntly, if Mr. Windsor had actually approached us, we... well, we wouldn’t have treated you the way we did before."

After securing the termination agreement, Emily Reed went public with the news on Instagram, and the fans celebrated universally.

HHY Corporation had a response to Natalie's new venture, posting a message online.

HHY Corporation: [Congratulations to Miss Natalie on becoming her own boss! We've enjoyed working together over the past year and hope to have the opportunity to collaborate again in the future!]

Netizens weighed in and voiced their opinions online through comments.

[HHY, if you've been kidnapped, just blink once [doghead.jpg]]

[Wonder if that announcement hurt HHY's pride.]

[Natalie is such a queen! She doesn't even need a translator when doing business with foreigners—she's a translator herself!]

[Next up, waiting for Susan to face the music!]

Emily Reed left HHY with Natalie, taking on an even bigger workload than before. Although Natalie wasn't adept at business management, Emily handled all the operations, networking, and negotiations and coordinated with brands and studios interested in collaborating with Natalie.

Most people thought HHY caved in quickly due to public pressure, but insiders knew entertainment companies weren't usually phased by it. Without the support and influence of significant investment behind the scenes, HHY would not have agreed to the contract termination so readily. The question was, who wielded that influence?
Married to an Ugly Husband? No!
