Chapter 225 Pregnancy
Oliver was slightly stunned by Natalie's expression and then chuckled. He pinched her cheeks and said, "Just wait and watch."
Oliver was not afraid of Hailey speaking out. She wouldn't dare to reveal in front of so many people that he was not disfigured. She was a coward, afraid that he would become enraged and kill someone!
Moreover, if Oliver had not given the Watson family an opportunity to seek help from the Harrington family, would that distress call have been made at all?
Soon, footsteps could be heard outside the door.
"Adrian, you finally came!" Robert exclaimed happily upon seeing Adrian. "Adrian, you must help with this situation. Natalie intends to harm your fiancée Hailey and threaten the Watson family!" Mrs. Watson tearfully pleaded. "Hailey is innocent..."
Mrs. Watson's words trailed. She and Robert looked at Adrian in confusion, noticing the beautiful woman following him. There was a chair blocking her way, so Adrian dutifully moved it aside. This surprised Robert and Mrs. Watson, and they sensed danger creeping in.
"Adrian, who is this?" Robert asked in confusion.
Meanwhile, in the interrogation room, Hailey screamed and cursed, "Adrian, you bastard! How dare you bring this shameless woman in front of me!"
Lyra, startled, took a step back. Adrian quickly supported her and comforted her, whispering in her ear, "Don't be afraid, I'm here." Lyra leaned on Adrian's chest and obediently nodded.
Adrian received the call right after accompanying Lyra to an examination. To fulfill Lyra's desire to make her presence known, he deliberately provoked Hailey.
The two locked eyes, but Hailey quickly averted her gaze, pretending not to know her as though they were not acquainted at all.
Lyra acted foolishly before at "Top Avenue," but now that she was pregnant and suddenly wiser. She played her cards well in this battle for favoritism.
"Adrian, Hailey and Natalie had a misunderstanding..." Mrs. Watson explained to Adrian why Hailey was confined.
Of course, she didn't tell him the truth.
Mrs. Watson twisted the facts and portrayed Hailey's intentional harm as "just trying to scare Natalie and let off some steam." She also claimed that Hailey and Natalie had personal conflicts, and that it was all Natalie’s fault. Hailey acted in anger after being provoked.
Emily rolled her eyes at what she heard, finding it unbelievable how this woman could distort facts! It was easy to see how much mistreatment Natalie had endured in the Watson family. No wonder her attitude toward them was indifferent. If it were Emily with her bad temper, she would have severed ties long ago!
"Uncle, Aunt, Hailey used a knife to harm someone in broad daylight with so many witnesses. How can you think it'll be easily resolved?", said Emily. Adrian couldn't maintain his smile. If he had known earlier that the Watson family called him to clean up their mess, he wouldn't have come!
It was evident that even Oliver hurried over to support Natalie. Adrian didn’t want to clash with Oliver, even if he had no personal issues with him.
Robert pulled Adrian aside and whispered, "Adrian, Hailey is your fiancée! And you're related to Mr. Windsor, so it should be easier to handle."
Wasn’t it evident enough that his relationship with Oliver was being strained? Adrian was fed up with this family.
"Ah!" Suddenly, Lyra's sobs reached Adrian's ears. Adrian hurried back and found Lyra lying on the ground, clutching her stomach in pain.
"Adrian! Adrian, my stomach hurts so much! Save me! Save me and our child!" Lyra cried, reaching out for Adrian.
"What happened?!" Adrian furiously demanded while staring at Mrs. Watson next to Lyra.
Mrs. Watson was at a loss for words. "I-I don't know, I just... I lightly bumped into her, I didn't use any force..."
"Adrian, Hailey said I seduced you and called me your mistress, then Mrs. Watson... Ah! Adrian, my stomach hurts!" Lyra sobbed while speaking.
