Chapter 189 No One Dares to Make Fun of You

Above, the sky was a clear blue, dotted with white clouds, while below, green waters and mountains stretched into the distance. On the lawn, beautiful women sang and danced, drawing the attention of men who gradually gathered to watch.

Hailey, however, grew increasingly displeased. She had intended to embarrass Natalie, but to her frustration, Natalie seemed blessed with good fortune, obtaining cards with high numbers.

At halftime, Hailey discreetly approached the card dealer, removing her wristwatch, and handing it to him. She asked, "Can you ensure that the lady in the third seat receives low-number cards? She seems keen to perform."

The dealer looked at Hailey with suspicion before his gaze fell to the five-figure watch. Then, he nodded and accepted the bribe.

Natalie had anticipated a day spent in the background, yet fortune smiled upon her with an ace, scoring just one point!

Coincidentally or not, Hailey obtained the other lowest card. She said with a hint of triumph, “Natalie, what a coincidence!”

The men around them erupted in cheers. Natalie and Hailey, who were half-sisters, were the subjects of numerous rumors regarding their estrangement, ranging from competing for resources to entanglements in love triangles.

This unexpected twist also drew glances toward Oliver and Adrian.

Adrian stole a glance at Oliver, who appeared completely indifferent to the surrounding whispers and stares, a stark contrast to Adrian's guilty and inferior bearing.

Isaac nudged Wyatt, whispering, "Did you see? The dealer cheated."

Wyatt responded affirmatively.

Cheating was common in events like this.

The duo observed Oliver's reaction.

Oliver’s eyes flashed coldly when he looked at the dealer and Hailey. They only softened when they looked at Natalie.

"Oliver's aware of it as well. It's likely Hailey's doing," Wyatt concluded.

Isaac expressed his disgust. "Is she sick in the head?"

They knew that Hailey despised Oliver in the past and forced Natalie to marry Oliver. Now, she began to target Natalie again.

At this time, the dealer asked cheerfully, "Which of you ladies holds the king?"

"That would be me!" Noah declared, rising to her feet with the card in hand and a proud smile on her face. She looked at Natalie, anticipating the latter’s reaction.

Natalie internally scoffed. Drawing a King card was nothing; she failed to understand why Noah looked as though she had won ten million dollars.

‘Idiot!’

"Hailey, perhaps you should go first. It's been ages since you've played the piano, and I'm quite looking forward to it," Noah suggested, playing along.

Hailey was famous for her piano-playing skills. She was acknowledged as the top pianist in the circle. She did not hesitate and took to the stage, her fingers dancing gracefully over the piano keys to produce a beautiful melody.

After a brief moment, Hailey said, “Someone has already played the piano, and we haven't seen other instruments being played. I’ll try something different.”

Then, Hailey glanced at Natalie before she added, “I’ll play the cello.”

The only instrument Natalie could play decently was the cello, which Hailey had given up on halfway through learning. In the past, Natalie secretly practiced for months, and to everyone’s surprise, she played better than Hailey, who had been learning for three years. At that time, Hailey smashed Natalie’s cello in a fit of rage and forbade Natalie from learning the cello. She even bought herself a cello after that to taunt Natalie.

Hailey's cello performance, while not as good as her piano performance, was still rather good. As the music ended, the sounds of applause rang in the air.

"Miss Watson, your performance was exquisite!"

"Thank you, everyone," Hailey responded. Then, she turned the spotlight on Natalie, saying, "Now, it's Natalie's turn."

“Natalie, since Hailey played the cello, you should play something else!” Noah quickly chimed in.

"Noah!" Adrian called out, frowning. He was aware of Natalie’s skills. If Natalie could not play the cello, what else could she play?

Noah said dismissively, “This matter is among us women. Don’t interfere.”

Noah blamed Natalie for his brother's protective stance. To her, Natalie was the root of all problems. She prodded, “Natalie, it’s your turn. Don’t you have any talent to show us?”

Oliver watched silently; his expression unreadable.

“Oliver!” Isaac whispered, looking worried and wondering if they should help Natalie.

Wyatt, tapping his foot, reassured Isaac. "Calm down. Even if all Natalie does is sing ‘Happy Birthday’, as long as Oliver claps, it’ll silence all ridicule.”

Isaac chuckled. “True. No one has sung a nursery rhyme yet!”

Indeed, Oliver's influence was undeniable. His support alone would ensure no one dared mock Natalie. If he clapped, no one would dare not to clap.

Natalie, recognizing the trap set for her, quietly instructed a staff member before departing to change. How could she not know when the rules clearly stated that there could be no repeat performances? They thought they could drive her into the corner and that she would wait for death. Needless to say, she would not do such a thing.

"Hailey, aside from the cello, does Natalie have any other talents?" Noah asked curiously.

"I don’t think so,” Hailey replied, barely able to hide her anxiety.

Meanwhile, as Oliver excused himself, Isaac asked, "Where are you going?"

Oliver gestured for them to wait.

On the other side, Natalie was now dressed in equestrian attire. When she walked out of the changing room, she was surprised to see the tall figure waiting for her. The other party wore a dark checkered suit and a tie with diamond-shaped patterns, which she had picked this morning.

Oliver raised an eyebrow and asked, “You can ride horses?”

“A little,” Natalie replied.

Recalling the temporary riding ring he had seen earlier, Oliver emphasized, “Remember, safety first.”

Natalie acknowledged with a nod.

Oliver, observing her casual response, assured, "No one will dare to laugh at you."

“I understand,” Natalie replied, wondering why he doubted her skills.

When Natalie returned, the crowd cheered enthusiastically.

“Natalie’s back!”

Suddenly, someone said, “Isn’t this a little funny? Is there anyone who can’t ride a horse here? How does this qualify as a talent?”
Married to an Ugly Husband? No!
