Chapter 135 Calling him 'hubby,' and, hubby,
Natalie covered herself in a towel, cracking the bathroom door open slightly as she called out tentatively, "Oliver, are you there?"
Oliver felt a pang of discomfort in his stomach. He clutched a cigarette between his fingers, hoping it would numb his pain. Since he traveled abroad, he had not enjoyed a decent meal, and over the past two days, he had eaten very little because of Natalie.
When he heard her voice, he looked up and saw a small head peeking out from the gap in the door, with moist almond-shaped eyes scanning the room until they locked onto his gaze.
"Oliver, I don’t have any clothes to change into."
Oliver took a drag of his cigarette, his face obscured by the smoke. Apart from that brief eye contact, it appeared as though he had not registered Natalie's words.
Natalie pouted. If it were not because of the fact that she did not have anything to wear, she would not have initiated a conversation with Oliver.
"Oliver? Oliver! Mr. Windsor!"
Natalie was exasperated.
If his previous humiliation had been balanced out by his defense of her and bold sea rescue tonight, now the scales had tilted again.
‘Isn’t he going too far?’
Oliver eventually glanced over and said slowly, "I’ll only assist my wife regarding matters like this. My wife wouldn’t address me as Mr. Windsor.”
"Why are you being so childish?"
Natalie really felt like rushing over and confronting him now. However, she could only entertain the thought; she could not physically confront him.
Oliver observed Natalie's face reddening with anger. The irritation of being referred to as ‘Mr. Windsor’ suddenly began to dissipate. Even the stomach discomfort was subsiding.
"My clothes," Natalie mumbled.
"If you call me darling, I’ll get some clothes for you,” Oliver said as he extinguished his cigarette, feeling a hint of anticipation.
‘How can he toy with me like this?!’
Natalie slammed the door shut with a loud bang and ignored him. She perched on the toilet seat, looking at the lavish bathroom. After thinking about it, she decided to wait until Oliver left the room before she got someone to deliver clothes to her.
Instead of receiving the desired response, the bathroom door closed once more, as if silently opposing him.
Oliver's expression darkened.
Natalie was becoming bolder, unlike before. After their union, she had become more casual with him.
After a while, considering that they still had to attend the party, Oliver took the clothes that he had already gotten someone to deliver and knocked on the door. He said icily, “Open the door.”
Natalie remained silent, but Oliver knew she must be glaring at him from the other side of the door at this moment.
“If you don’t open the door, then you won’t have anything to wear.”
Just a few moments later, the bathroom door creaked open again, revealing a delicate and soft hand extended outward with palm facing upward.
Then, Oliver heard a reluctant and stiff ‘thank you’, causing him to raise an eyebrow.
Natalie had anticipated the clothes being handed to her. Unexpectedly, instead of fabric, she felt the warm and gentle hand of a man.
In the next moment, Oliver gently pulled her out of the bathroom.
Natalie was caught off guard as she was pulled out, and she quickly reached out to hold onto the door frame, unwilling to come out.
"Oliver!"
Oliver's gaze fell on Natalie's slender arms and round fragrant shoulders.
Oliver's gaze was fixed on Natalie's slender arms and the curves of her fragrant shoulders. His Adam’s apple bobbed.
Seeing his gaze, Natalie’s expression darkened. Then, seizing the opportunity, she swiftly grabbed the clothes from his other hand. Alas, she did not have a good grip, and it fell on the floor.
Oliver cast a glance at the dress strewn on the floor and a mischievous glint flashed in his eyes.
The dress was an exquisite white dress, featuring a high neckline, long sleeves, and a form-fitting design. The inner layer was crafted from silk, while the outer layer boasted intricate hollow patterns. Layers of white gauze flowed beneath, lending it an air of elegance and purity.
Oliver glanced at the clothes on the carpet.
Logically, such a dress would not be readily available on the cruise ship. Moreover, the dress was clearly very expensive.
As time passed, Natalie grew more and more uneasy. Through the crack of the door, she looked at the tall figure outside.
Oliver noticed that Natalie had moved closer to the door and said teasingly, "Call me darling, and I'll give it to you."
Natalie cursed him in her heart but could not do anything about it. In the end, she reluctantly went outside. Thinking that they had been much more intimate this, she said, “D-darling, can you pass me the dress?”
Oliver’s heart skipped a beat. After a moment, he handed the dress to her.
…
The size of the dress fit Natalie perfectly, and the fact that Oliver knew her measurements made her heart skip a beat.
By the time she finished changing, it was nearly 8 PM, and her hair was only partially dried.
With no elaborate hairstyle or intricate makeup, Natalie exuded a kind of pure and gentle beauty.
After Oliver put the mask on to conceal his handsome face, he led Natalie by the hand as they made their way out.
"Oliver, where are we going?" Natalie asked.
"To watch a play."
…
The banquet hall for the engagement party was situated on the third floor. It was spacious and opulent with exquisite decorations. White roses and vibrant helium balloons were meticulously arranged.
When Natalie and Oliver arrived, the party had already started some time ago.
At this moment, Hailey and Adrian stood on the stage, wearing radiant smiles as they received blessings from family and friends.
In affluent families, scandals were very common, and the dramatic event from just over an hour earlier had been selectively forgotten by everyone. As long as the hosts did not mention it, the guests would naturally avoid the topic as well. They were free to gossip once they had returned to their own homes.
The guests’ attention was focused on the couple so they did not notice Oliver and Natalie’s arrival.
On the other hand, Adrian caught sight of Natalie entering the venue, and his smile became slightly stiff.
Oliver’s eyes glinted coldly when he noticed this.
"What play are we watching?"
"Just wait," Oliver said, caressing the back of Natalie’s hand.
At this time,
Victoria gave a cue. She had prepared a video compilation of family and friends welcoming Hailey into the family and also giving well wishes.
The large projection screen had been brought out, but instead of the anticipated elegant piano music, deafening music reverberated through the air.
On the screen, a chaotic dance party was shown with the words ‘All Night Manor’.
"All Night Manor?"
Natalie was stunned. If her memory served her correctly, this was from the night of Adrian's bachelor party. She had intended to record a video of Adrian, but Oliver had pulled her away. That night did not leave her with any pleasant memory. Her expression turned solemn immediately, and she avoided Oliver’s gaze.
