Chapter 1053 The Little Princess in His Heart
Especially when the babies' big eyes looked at the camera, as if looking at Jane, they were so moist and clear that it made one's heart soften.
All the babies' babbling seemed to strike a chord in Jane's heart.
Natalie's child must be just as incredibly adorable.
Jane wondered, would her own child be just as cute?
Anthony glanced sideways, seeing Jane's hand unconsciously placed on her lower abdomen. This time, he couldn't tell what she was thinking.
Anthony wanted to keep Jane by his side, and he admitted his own pettiness.
Anthony didn't actually want to use a child to trap Jane; he wasn't particularly fond of children.
Anthony also didn't want the delicate Jane to endure the pain of childbirth or to have her energy drained by a young infant.
In Anthony's eyes, Jane was like a child, his little princess.
However, since this child had inconveniently come at this time, they could only make the best of it.
Because an abortion would also cause significant harm to the body.
The plane landed at Southvale International Airport.
Clint was already waiting at the VIP exit of the airport. When he saw Jane, he initially wanted to greet her casually, but sensing the tense atmosphere, he quickly swallowed his words and simply greeted Jane with a formal "Ms. Watkins."
"Mr. Clark, the villa at Emerald Gardens is ready. When do you two plan to go?" Clint naturally included "two" in his question, even though Anthony hadn't told him Jane would be staying there. However, the specific decoration requests Anthony mentioned were clearly for a woman.
This woman could only be Jane.
Anthony said, "Now."
"Alright." Clint opened the car door for Jane and Anthony.
Anthony prepared to help Jane into the car, but she avoided him, gracefully entering the back seat of the Rolls-Royce, sitting far from Anthony.
Clint thought, 'The atmosphere is definitely off. Looks like his good days might be over again.'
The Emerald Gardens villa area covered hundreds of acres, but there were only about fifty households, with low housing density and high privacy. The residents were all top-tier individuals who were very discreet, saving a lot of social interaction troubles.
When Jane chose Emerald Gardens, it was not only because she liked it but also because she didn't want to interact with others.
Outside the villa, four maids and two rows of bodyguards were already standing, along with a middle-aged man who seemed out of place.
"Billy?" Jane was stunned, not quite believing her eyes.
"Ms. Watkins, long time no see. You're still as beautiful as ever!" Billy, slightly chubby, smiled kindly. Due to years of cooking, his arms were well-toned.
Billy started to nag. "You've gotten thinner, even more so than before. You young ladies, always wanting to lose weight even when you're as thin as a toothpick."
If anyone else had said this to Jane, she could have lectured them for ten minutes on "the importance of body management for a beautiful woman," but since it was Billy, who had watched her grow up and cooked for her since she was little, Jane just nodded obediently, feeling a warmth in her heart.
"He'll be staying here to take care of your meals," Anthony said, standing beside Jane, his gaze on her face. "Feeling a bit happier?"
The little bit of happiness Jane felt instantly vanished.
Clint saw it all, watching as the smile in Jane's eyes quickly disappeared.
Clint didn't know what Anthony had done to upset Jane this time. He thought bringing her back to live here meant things were finally getting better, but apparently, he was wrong.
"Ms. Watkins, what would you like for lunch?" Billy asked Jane familiarly.
Billy wasn't afraid of Anthony because he knew from the start that Anthony kept him around for Jane. As long as he treated Jane well, Anthony wouldn't mind anything else.
Jane thought for a moment then said excitedly, "Crab! I want your steamed crab!"
"My dear Ms. Watkins, you can't eat crab or other seafood while pregnant. It's too cold and can easily cause a miscarriage," Billy suggested. "How about I make you some sponge cake to start, and then you can decide what you want?"
"Alright, thank you, Billy!"
"No need to thank me!"
Standing behind and out of the loop, Clint was stunned, almost staring blankly at Jane's belly. His gaze was too direct, and Anthony shot him a warning look.
Receiving that deathly glare, Clint shuddered and snapped back to reality, still in shock from learning about Jane's pregnancy.
"Which room am I staying in?" Jane asked Anthony coldly, as she was used to familiarizing herself with her living quarters first.
"There are three bedrooms and a study on the second floor. You can choose whichever you like," Anthony said agreeably.
Jane looked at Anthony, not moving, with a wary look in her eyes.
"We'll sleep separately," Anthony seemed to compromise.
This time, Jane was satisfied and went upstairs.
A maid followed closely behind with Jane's suitcase, while another empty-handed maid stayed by her other side, ready to support Jane at any moment. This was Anthony's prior instruction to prevent any accidents like Jane slipping.
"Mr. Clark, Ms. Watkins, she..." Clint began incredulously after Jane went upstairs.
"What, do I not look like someone who could be a father?" Anthony asked Clint expressionlessly.
"No, no! You look like you could go seven times a night!" Clint didn't quite understand. "But, why does Ms. Watkins seem unhappy?"
'Isn't pregnancy supposed to be a good thing?' he thought.
As soon as Clint finished speaking, a thought flashed through his mind, 'If she's unhappy about the pregnancy, it means she wasn't prepared or expecting it. Anthony would certainly be happy about having a child with Jane, but Jane might not be.
'So, Jane might have gotten pregnant by accident or was forced into it? No, it should be an accident. If it were forced, with Jane's temperament, she would have dealt with Anthony first.'
"This matter is to be kept confidential," Anthony said.
"Got it." Clint quickly regained his composure. "I'll select a few hospitals and doctors for the follow-up checkups, and you can decide?"
"Alright."
"Do we need to hire a family doctor?" Clint asked.
Anthony hesitated a moment before replying, "No."
When Aurora was pregnant at the Clark family, they had a whole medical team, which was quite a spectacle. Anthony remembered Jane didn't like that.
Although Jane had been a top-tier pampered socialite since childhood, she didn't like having too many servants at home, even back at the Watkins family.
Moreover, there was a high-end private hospital just a ten-minute drive from Emerald Gardens, which could be accessed in case of emergencies.
"How's the investigation on Jovan Watkins going?" Anthony glanced upstairs, where Jane hadn't come down yet.
According to Jane's habits, she should be inspecting her soon-to-be bedroom.
Clint replied, "So far, we can only confirm that Mr. Watkins is not on the casualty list of the plane crash, but we can't rule out that he might be among the missing."
This wasn't bad news, but it wasn't good news either.
"How's Ainslee?" Anthony asked.
"He's awake. He wasn't seriously injured; the coma might have been faked," Clint answered.
