Chapter 321 Awkward Conversation
Natalie had a packed schedule, and Emily, her agent, was incredibly busy managing it.
In contrast, Lilian and Sophia found their responsibilities far less demanding.
During Natalie's audition, Lilian was preoccupied with her phone, chatting with Lucas. Or to be precise, seeking advice from Lucas.
Lucas was taken aback by Lilian's message. He stared at his phone for a minute before he confirmed he did not read her message wrongly.
Lilian was very blunt with her words.
Little Twerp: [Lucas, I have a question. Is sex fun for everyone?]
Lucas had saved Lilian’s name on his phone as ‘Little Twerp’.
‘Are all girls so straightforward nowadays? Isn’t she shy at all?’
Struggling to find the right words, Lucas was too shocked to even consider teasing Lilian.
Lucas: [Why are you suddenly asking about this?]
Little Twerp: [Just answer my question.]
Lucas thought to himself, ‘This fool seems to have gotten smarter lately. She even knows how to steer the conversation in the direction she wants now…’
Lucas: [It depends on your partner’s skills.]
Little Twerp: [Do skills vary significantly between people? Are you skilled?]
Lucas, who had just taken a sip of water, accidentally spat it out in surprise and began coughing.
Upon seeing this, his roommate asked, concerned, “What’s wrong?”
“Nothing. I just choked on water,” Lucas replied.
His roommate studied him for a moment before he teased, “Something’s up. Your ears are red! Are you texting some pretty girl? Is it that girl who pursued you before this?”
Lucas was very popular at Paykston University. He was handsome and had good grades. There were many girls who were interested in him.
Lucas was speechless. “None of that. Don’t get any ideas.”
At the same time, he wondered if Lilian’s sudden question was because she had a boyfriend.
Lucas: [Why are you suddenly asking about this? Do you have a boyfriend?]
Little Twerp: [No.]
Lucas felt inexplicably relieved when he read this message.
Little Twerp: [I saw marks on Natalie’s neck so I asked her about it and became curious.]
‘Since when did my sister become so open?’
Lucas knew his sister would not speak about this matter openly under normal circumstances. She was elegant and low-key, unlike the members of the Watson family. This kind of topic was not something his sister would discuss with Lilian.
Lilian, impatient, sent another message.
Little Twerp: [Why aren’t you replying to me? Don’t tell me you don’t know anything as well?]
Lucas was going to tell her he did not know anything to get rid of her, but when he saw this message, he quickly dismissed this idea. He felt like if he said he did not know, he would put himself on the same level as that little idiot.
He took a deep breath, finding it excruciating to discuss this topic with a girl.
Lucas: [Of course, I know. What do you want to know?]
Lilian was delighted.
Little Twerp: [So what does it feel like?]
‘How can you be so blunt?!’
Lucas: [It can’t be described, and you need experience to understand it.]
After sending that, he quickly followed up with another message.
Lucas: [But you shouldn’t rush into it!]
Little Twerp: [Why not?]
Lucas felt a surge of irritation when he read this.
Lucas: [ Are you stupid?]
Lilian was naturally unhappy when she saw this message.
Little Twerp: [Why are you insulting me for no reason?]
Lucas felt exhausted by this conversation, and he only wanted to end it quickly. However, considering his sister asked him to take care of Lilian, he tried to remain patient.
Lucas: [It’s meant to be something special. You can’t just rush into it. You have to make sure that your partner really likes you. Understand?]
Lucas felt as though he had gone insane for abandoning his weapon design to discuss this matter with Lilian.
Little Twerp: [Oh, okay! I understand now! You’re really smart! Thanks!]
‘Good, it seems like she’s satisfied with this answer. I hope she doesn’t ask me any more questions!’
…
During their visit to France, while Natalie took a break at the hotel, Lilian brought Sophia with her to explore the city. She knew her way around, and with her credit cards unfrozen, this was more like a shopping trip to her than a work trip.
Lilian returned with bags of expensive perfumes, luxury handbags, and cosmetics. They were not just for herself but also for Natalie, Emily, and Sophia. She even bought premium cigars for Oliver.
However, unknown to Natalie, Lilian had also bought a stylish men’s wallet.
…
Upon their return to Paykston, they were greeted by a thunderstorm, causing their flight to circle overhead for an hour before they could land safely.
After collecting their luggage, it was past 2:30 AM when they approached the exit of the international terminal. There, they were met with the sight of a tall figure waiting, clutching a bouquet of stunning roses in his right hand, while his left idly tapped on the railing.
Contrasting the delicate roses, the man’s expression was cold, and a frown could be seen on his face. However, a gentle smile appeared on his face when he saw Natalie.
This moment brought back memories for Natalie of the time she had returned after a photoshoot with BAZAAR. At that time, Oliver had come to pick her up as well.
For a moment, these memories blurred the lines between past and present.
Upon spotting Oliver, Lilian called out, waving, “Isn't that my cousin? Oliver! Why are you here?”
Emily had previously deduced Lilian's relation to Oliver, so she was not surprised, unlike Sophia.
‘Cousin? Lilian and Oliver are cousins? No wonder she spends money so carelessly!’
At this time, Jamie stepped forward to assist Lilian with her luggage and shopping bags, greeting everyone before he whispered to Natalie, “He’s been waiting for a long time. He was very worried about you.”
Given the recent thunderstorms and a spate of airplane incidents, Oliver’s concerns were understandable.
Lilian, spotting the roses in Oliver's hand, teased Natalie, "Since he brought roses, I guess he’s here for you.”
Then, she feigned a sulky expression as she continued, “And I thought he came for me…”
