Chapter 167 Natalie Goes Missing
Hailey, dressed in a royal blue floral gown, leaned toward Natalie and asked with a smile, “Natalie, did something happen to Lucas?”
Natalie looked at Hailey, and the shocked expression on her face was replaced by an icy one.
Hailey did not bother to hide anything. “You’ve guessed correctly. Your brother is probably stimulated by the call I made. I told him you married Oliver instead of me!"
"You’re despicable!"
In her quest to win the competition and eliminate Natalie, Hailey had used Lucas, regardless of his well-being. No matter what, Lucas was also her brother.
Natalie swiftly removed the ornaments from her hair and rushed outside as though she was possessed.
"Number 9! Natalie! Where are you going?! It's your turn on stage!"
The staff member’s voice rang out loudly, attracting everyone’s attention.
Natalie ignored the other party and rushed outside as though she did not hear a thing.
"Should I go on stage first? Natalie has always done what she wants without caring about others. There’s nothing we can do about it," Hailey suggested.
"Fine, Hailey, you go first!" the staff members said angrily, “Natalie is really too much. How dare she leave in the middle of a show! I really want to see who would dare to hire her in the future! She really needs to change her attitude!”
Hailey feigned a worried expression on her face, as though she was really concerned that Natalie’s departure would affect the show. Needless to say, she was overjoyed in her heart.
…
The weather forecast had predicted rain for today, and indeed, it had begun drizzling outside.
Natalie, dressed in a fiery red dress, appeared to be in a state of frenzy. Her eye-catching blood-red veil was quickly drenched.
The bustling city streets were filled with people, and many pedestrians began to look at her with curious eyes.
Natalie scanned her surroundings, her mind blank, uncertain of where to begin her search. The city was vast, and she had no idea where to look. Finally, she hailed a cab.
The chatty middle-aged taxi driver asked, "Where are you heading? Are you going to a performance?"
"No, please take me to the Second Hospital," Natalie said in a quivering voice.
Upon seeing the tense expression on Natalie’s face through the rearview mirror, the driver speculated that something must have happened to her loved one. Without another word, he accelerated, and soon, they arrived at the Second Hospital.
Natalie contacted Lucas’ attending doctor, who told her they had yet to find Lucas.
"Please drive slowly around the main roads in the city. I need to find someone."
People strolled along the sidewalks, hand in hand. There were families of three enjoying leisurely walks, and individuals going about their daily tasks. However, Lucas was nowhere to be seen.
Natalie's heart sank, overwhelmed by fear and panic.
…
Despite the cold war between Oliver and Natalie, Charles still had someone discreetly monitoring Natalie.
When Charles received the news, he disregarded the meeting with the board of directors and leaned closer to Oliver before he said in a low voice, “Young Master, Young Madam abruptly left the competition.”
Oliver, who was looking at the document in front of him a moment ago, looked up at Charles with a chilling and piercing gaze.
Charles felt a shiver run down his spine. “She left wearing the competition’s outfit. Someone said she had a quarrel with a staff member, but I find it hard to believe…”
Charles did not get to finish his sentence before Oliver suddenly stood up and left. His footsteps were urgent.
The others sitting around the table were bewildered.
“Charles, he…”
“I apologize. I’m afraid today’s meeting will be adjourned.”
Under normal circumstances, Charles would have stayed to appease the board of directors and offer an explanation. However, he did not have time to do such a thing now. After all, Natalie might be in danger now, and Oliver was not in the right state of mind at this moment.
…
As Oliver made his way toward the parking garage, he called Natalie. However, he only heard the busy tone followed by a beep.
Charles caught up to Oliver before the latter could get into the driver’s seat. He quickly asked, “Young Master, why don’t I drive?”
"Step aside! I’m going to drive and look for her!"
If Oliver were to drive in this state, it was highly unlikely that he would find Natalie. Not only that, but he would likely cause a series of accidents.
Naturally, Charles did not give voice to this thought. Instead, he said, “Why don’t you let me drive? With that, you can make necessary arrangements and look for Natalie as I drive…”
Oliver felt that Charles had a point, so he quickly got into the backseat. His hands were clenched into fists, veins protruding on their backs, as he said impatiently, “Speed up.”
"Yes!"
Oliver called Jamie, instructing the latter to mobilize all their resources to look for Natalie and investigate what happened before she left.
Based on his tone, it was clear that the culprit behind this matter would face dire consequences.
Natalie placed a lot of importance on her dreams and career. Even after marrying him, she did not give up on them. Although Oliver found Top Avenue trivial, he could tell she took it seriously. For this reason, he could not figure out why she would suddenly leave during the finals with victory so close to hand.
Raindrops fell on the windshield of the car as the car sped forward. At the same time, the wipers worked tirelessly to maintain visibility.
"Don’t worry, Young Master. I’m sure she’s fine,” Charles said reassuringly, “She’s not an impulsive person. She wouldn’t leave just because of a dispute. Perhaps there’s another reason. Perhaps a friend suddenly needs her help.”
“Focus on driving!” Oliver said. However, Charles’ words prompted him to call Jane.
"Is Natalie with you?” Oliver asked bluntly without any context.
Jane recognized Oliver’s pleasing baritone immediately, especially when she heard the word ‘Natalie’. Her expression changed drastically as she asked, “No. Has she gone missing?”
Seeing that Natalie was not with Jane, Oliver ended the call immediately.
…
On the other side, Jane, who was overwhelmed by anxiety, abandoned her work and quickly changed before she left her house. She called Oliver multiple times en route to ask for information, but Oliver, who judged her to be of no help, ignored her calls.
Frustrated, Jane cursed Oliver inwardly a hundred times.
…
Oliver scanned the streets, but he did not see anyone who resembled Natalie, causing his frown to deepen.
This was one of the rare times that Charles had seen Oliver so worried and anxious.
…
At this very moment, Natalie was sitting in a cab.
The driver said, “Searching for someone in this manner won’t lead you anywhere. Think about where that person would go or who they might look for…”
