Chapter 1069 Jane Was His Woman

Delilah, the daughter of the Johnson family, was highly cherished within the family and was another popular figure competing with Jane for the title of top socialite back in the day. However, she and Jane took completely different paths.

Jane was the fashion icon of the socialite circle, excelling in piano, violin, oil painting, jewelry appraisal, financial intelligence, and other fields. She could always take first place but had been fully dedicated to chemical research this year, having her own personal chemistry lab since middle school. Because they were in different fields, they rarely interacted and had only met a few times.

In the socialite circle, there were very few people Jane considered rivals, and Delilah was one of them.

Jane didn't think Delilah could match her, but she had to admit Delilah's excellence.

"Where are you going?" Anthony asked Jane with a slight frown.

Jane seemed to be in a bad mood.

Anthony's assertive tone made Jane feel a surge of anger.

Seeing Jane not respond, Anthony looked at Clint behind her.

Clint felt a headache coming on. "Mr. Clark, Ms. Watkins plans to leave."

How long had she been here before planning to leave?

Anthony had specifically brought Jane here, and they hadn't even spent half an hour apart before she wanted to leave?

"Wait for me in my office," Anthony said with a displeased look, adding, "I'll take you back later."

"No need, I'll go back myself," Jane said. "Or you can find a driver to take me."

Anthony looked at Clint, his attitude firm. "Take her to my office."

Clint said, "Yes, sir."

Jane's eyes were filled with anger, but considering this was Anthony's company, she couldn't lose her temper. She covered her face and followed Clint upstairs.

Meanwhile, in the elevator, Benjamin had been watching Jane and Anthony's interaction and couldn't help but tease Anthony after Jane left. "Anthony, who was that woman just now? I've known you for years, and it's the first time I've seen you show interest in a woman."

Recalling Jane's appearance, Benjamin sincerely admired. "That lady was indeed stunning and had a great figure. If it were me, I'd be interested too."

Anthony's gaze suddenly turned cold, like ice, warning him. "She's not someone you can fantasize about."

"Buddy, I'm not fantasizing about her; I'm just giving an honest evaluation!" Benjamin felt very innocent.

"Even evaluations are off-limits," Anthony said firmly.

Benjamin had never seen Anthony show such a domineering and firm side for any woman, which piqued his interest.

"Anthony, could it be that you like that woman? Isn't it rumored that you don't like women?"

Anthony didn't explain much, just gave Benjamin a look indicating the topic should end there.

He didn't want to discuss Jane with any other man.

Benjamin sighed regretfully. "Alright, I originally wanted to set you up with Delilah. In my opinion, you two are a perfect match. I even brought her here today."

Anthony glanced at Delilah, who was standing silently beside them. This was the first time he truly took notice of her since she appeared in front of him this year.

"Mr. Clark, don't misunderstand. I'm currently Mr. Nelson's assistant," Delilah immediately clarified, distancing herself from any suspicion of coming specifically for Anthony.

After graduating from Skyline University, she didn't return to her home country. Benjamin had a good relationship with the Johnson family, and she was indeed staying by Benjamin's side to hone her skills.

Anthony nodded, satisfied with this answer.

Delilah lowered her eyes, her long, thick eyelashes covering her emotions, "Mr. Clark, what is your relationship with Ms. Watkins now..."

"That's my private matter," Anthony rejected her probing.

Delilah nodded. "Sorry."

Benjamin's gaze shifted between Delilah and Anthony, a meaningful smile on his lips.

He had known Delilah for many years, and she was always confident and assertive. Only in front of Anthony did she become so cautious.

If Benjamin hadn't accidentally seen Delilah following news about Anthony on a forum, he wouldn't have guessed that Delilah had feelings for Anthony.

But Anthony indeed had the qualities. Among the top global elites Benjamin knew, Anthony was one of the best in both ability and appearance.

No wonder even someone as proud as Delilah would be impressed by Anthony.

Anthony's office was located on the top floor of the Clark Group building. The Clark Group building was the tallest office building in the Southvale CBD area.

Jane stood by the floor-to-ceiling window, looking down. The people and vehicles below looked as small as ants.

The CEO's office was usually on the top floor of the company building because those CEOs didn't want anyone "standing" above them.

However, Jane didn't like this height. Standing here gave her a sense of looking down on everyone else, feeling superior.

The most terrifying thing about a person was the lack of self-awareness.

There was a sound from the door behind her.

Anthony's footsteps were getting closer.

Jane turned around, and Anthony was already standing behind her, less than a foot away.

"Jane, are you upset?" Anthony had noticed Jane's coldness in the elevator earlier.

Clearly, their relationship had improved over the past few days, and she wasn't so cold when they left this morning.

"What's there to be happy about?" Jane asked indifferently, picking up her bag. "Can I leave now?"

"Jane, what's making you angry?" Anthony walked up to her, holding her hand patiently. "Who made you angry? Tell me, and I'll stand up for you."

Delilah's face flashed in Jane's mind, her breath catching for a moment before returning to normal.

She pulled her hand away. "No one. I just feel it's inappropriate for me to be at your company."

"What's inappropriate?"

"Everything is inappropriate."

She wasn't Anthony's wife or girlfriend, yet she was treated by the employees as if she were. Naturally, it was inappropriate.

She had been foolish this morning. She shouldn't have come to Anthony's company out of curiosity.

Jane looked at him and asked, "Anthony, don't you need to accompany your clients for lunch?"

When guests visited, it was very rude not to accompany them for lunch.

However, Anthony never cared about such things.

"Jane, if you push me to have lunch with them, who will accompany you?" To Anthony, no one was more important than Jane.

He had already been very courteous by taking half an hour to meet Benjamin.

"I don't need anyone to accompany me," Jane said.

"Well, I need you to accompany me, okay?" His tone was full of indulgence and helplessness, as if coaxing a spoiled child.
