Chapter 139 A Cut on the Corner of the Mouth

"Liam said that because the young madam still isn’t familiar with me, the success rate of deception is higher," Jamie replied seriously.

"You really have inherited Uncle Liam's skills," Charles said, giving a thumbs-up.

"I don’t think it’ll work after a few more attempts."

Oliver's stomach problem turned out to be more severe than Charles expected; he had developed a stomach ulcer and was receiving a drip. After the drip was finished, he would need to remain in the hospital for observation.

Natalie delivered meals to the hospital on time, but always through someone else, never showing up.

On the third day, Jamie looked at her with a troubled expression and said, “Young Madam, please bring Young Master’s meals to him. If you’re not there, he won’t eat.”

Natalie sensed tension and a sense of unease among the bodyguards and medical staff, indicating that the person in the ward had a difficult temperament.

"He will eat when he is hungry," Natalie said. Noticing Jamie did not take the food box, she placed it on the nearby table and turned to leave.

Jamie sighed, uncertain whether to sympathize with Oliver or for themselves for having to endure Oliver’s bad mood.

Remembering how well Natalie had taken care of Oliver during his last hospital stay, accompanying him for meals, staying overnight, and chatting with him, Jamie could not help but reminisce about better times.

The hospital room door opened.

Oliver's heart involuntarily clenched. He had hoped it was Natalie, but upon seeing the person, his expression instantly turned cold.

"Why is it you again?"

Jamie touched his own head and said, "If you find my presence annoying, I can ask Charles to come over from the company."

Jamie regretted not having a higher IQ. If he did, he could handle the company's affairs at RK Group instead of serving a possibly heartbroken Oliver here.

"Where is she?" Oliver glanced at the food, his tone as foul as he spoke.

"She went back," Jamie answered in a low voice.

"Didn't you give her a message?" Oliver asked with a sour face.

Jamie concealed his sympathy in his eyes as he said, "I did. But... she still left."

The more they talked, the more Jamie felt Oliver was pitiful. It was truly sad thinking about how the respected and feared Simon Frost and the heir of the Windsor family was abandoned by his wife.

Rosy had reported an improvement in Oliver's stomach condition, but Oliver's anger caused his stomach pain to flare up again.

"Sir, do you still want to eat this meal?" Jamie asked cautiously.

"No! Take it away!" Oliver said, waving his hand dismissively.

However, as Jamie was about to leave with the food, Oliver had a change of heart.

"Bring it back!"

"Yes," Jamie responded, familiar with Oliver's volatile nature, and quickly set the food down.

Jamie knew that Natalie was Oliver's vulnerable point, and it was no shock to see him behave erratically because of her.

In recent days, Natalie had been diligently preparing meals for Oliver. Not only did they taste delicious, but they also looked great. It was as though the meals had been bought.

Oliver felt like he was eating takeout from a restaurant and wondered if she was deliberately angering him.

Upon entering the hospital room, Isaac and Wyatt noticed Oliver's grim expression as he ate.

"She made this meal, didn’t she? It smells delicious!" Isaac exclaimed, "Where is she? Is there any more food? I’d love to try…."

Isaac’s words were cut off by Oliver's death stare.

"Uh... Are you arguing with your wife?" Isaac quickly shifted the conversation, feigning concern, though his curiosity was palpable.

"Do you want to be kicked out?"

"No!"

Oliver scoffed. She would not even argue with him. She was too compliant, preparing and delivering three meals daily without fail, and never repeating a dish, much like a personal chef.

Wyatt, sensing Oliver's mood, decided to broach a significant topic. He said solemnly, “We've uncovered Roger's identity. He's a citizen here but also holds Italian citizenship. He's a prominent international businessman and banker. His company is among the global top twenty. However, he has another identity."

Wyatt paused before he said with a grim expression, "If my suspicions are correct, he is D."

D, the notorious and elusive assassin.

Who could have imagined that the terrifying killer D, who instilled fear on the streets, was a renowned businessman and banker worldwide? Who could have guessed that the ruthless assassin D had a bewitchingly attractive face?

"He knows my identity. If he’s D, it explains why the members of the D Organization who accepted my assassination order were dealt with by D," Oliver said. His expression darkened when he realized the reason.

Roger must have gotten rid of that assassin because that assassin had almost hurt Natalie.

"It’s strange. How did your wife become entangled with D? Could it be that D likes her?"

Oliver was also mulling over how Natalie got mixed up with a figure like D when Isaac voiced his opinion. He glared at Isaac coldly.

Isaac hurriedly said, "Don’t worry! D stands no chance against you!”

Then, Isaac asked curiously, “Is he crazy? Why would he become an assassin when he’s a wealthy CEO of a company?”

Wyatt rolled his eyes and retorted, “I’m also a CEO, but I’m also a hacker. Does that mean I’m crazy?”

Isaac found no rebuttal. Humans were complex, and their true selves could lie hidden beneath the surface. After a moment, he said, "Oliver, after attending Adrian’s engagement party with Natalie, it might be difficult for you to continue hiding your identity."

Oliver's influence had long surpassed the Windsor family. He only looked down on them now.

"If I can't hide it, then I won't." Oliver did not plan on hiding forever.

He was curious to see when the Windsor family would uncover his identity and how they would react. The anticipation of their discovery amused him, likening it to a mouse's reaction upon seeing a cat.

That engagement party was merely the beginning.

Following Isaac and Wyatt's departure, Oliver directed Jamie to arrange for a pair of antique vases, a pigeon egg-sized diamond, and a costly weapon design blueprint to be sent to Roger alongside a thank-you card.

Oliver was clearly drawing the line and also implying that he did not need Roger to take care of his wife.
Married to an Ugly Husband? No!
