Chapter 1101 You, Get Out!
Ann rarely spoke so harshly to Anthony, which showed she was really determined.
Anthony shrugged at Jane, indicating he was powerless.
In fact, he didn't really intend to persuade.
He wanted to ease the relationship between Jane and Ann, but intervening at this moment would be counterproductive.
Totally stunned, Jane couldn't hide her deep unhappiness.
Jane pointed towards the door. "You, get out."
Anthony had a puzzled look on his face as if asking Jane, "Why the sudden change of attitude?"
Jane didn't speak, and Anthony, very good-naturedly, asked, "What's wrong?"
Anthony raised his hand to touch her hair, but Jane turned her head to avoid it.
"Don't touch me!" Jane glared at Anthony. "What do you think is wrong with me?"
"Jane, don't you think it's nice to have someone come over and keep you company?" Anthony laughed, a mix of helplessness and indulgence in his voice.
Jane instantly got angry. "Is that called keeping me company? When you had a tutor as a kid, was the tutor there to play with you? Anthony, can you speak with some conscience?"
Anthony wanted to say, I never had a tutor. But he knew that would only anger Jane more.
"How about you try it tomorrow. If you really don't like it, I'll tell my mom," he suggested.
"No need to try. I don't like it." Jane pointed at the door again. "Leave immediately, don't make me say 'get out'."
She was really angry.
"Having those people over is like putting on a show for you, you don't even have to think." Anthony sighed helplessly, not quite understanding why she was so upset.
"Which is more tiring, watching with your eyes open or sleeping with your eyes closed?" Jane rolled her eyes. "Enough, I can't find common ground with someone who doesn't get the value of leisure and life's joys. I'm going to sleep!"
The implication was that Anthony should leave quickly.
Anthony got up and turned off the light for Jane. In the dim light, he returned to his seat, his tall figure casting a long shadow.
"Sleep." Anthony said, "I'll leave once you fall asleep."
Jane had been staying at the Clark Manor for the past two days, and Anthony had been watching over her as she slept. She was originally afraid of the dark at night, and in a new environment, she was even more scared. Jane thought that her current state was all thanks to Anthony. Before she was pregnant, she wasn't afraid of the dark. Coming to the unfamiliar Clark Manor was also because of Anthony. It seemed reasonable for him to watch over her as she slept, so she accepted it with peace of mind. But when she closed her eyes, she couldn't fall asleep. Anthony was very familiar with Jane's breathing; he could tell at a glance whether she was asleep or not. After a while, Jane resignedly opened her eyes, staring blankly at the ceiling. "Can't sleep?" Anthony asked. "Yeah," Jane said. "You and your mom have made me so angry, you two are ganging up to bully an outsider like me." Jane was really good at assigning blame. Anthony felt both helpless and amused. He glanced at the time, it was a little past ten, not really late. In the past, this was when Jane's nightlife would just be starting. "If you can't sleep, do you want to go for a walk?" Anthony suggested. "I don't want to walk," she said lazily, "It would be great if there was a wheelchair to push me around." As soon as she said that, Jane suddenly remembered that Aurora had used a wheelchair when she was pregnant, and there really was a wheelchair at the Clark Manor.
"Forget it, who needs a wheelchair," Jane said awkwardly. She wasn't as pretentious as Aurora.
Anthony pretended not to hear the word "wheelchair." Seeing that Jane really couldn't sleep, he mentally reviewed the backup plans from the planning group he hired.
"Do you want some barbecue?" he asked.
As soon as he said it, he saw Jane's eyes light up, and she became energized.
"Barbecue?" Jane instantly perked up. "Where? Are we going now?"
Anthony said, "Yes, change your clothes."
Jane always did things slowly, but this was the first time Anthony saw Jane change clothes so quickly.
Jane went into the dressing room and came out in less than two minutes.
"Let's go!" She looked at Anthony, her eyes full of urgency.
As if she was a moment late, the barbecue place would close.
Anthony saw she was only wearing a set of cotton and linen long-sleeved pajamas, so he grabbed Jane's coat hanging nearby and draped it over her.
"Let's go." He held Jane's hand.
Jane was so focused on the joy of soon having a late-night snack, and it was barbecue, that she didn't even notice Anthony was holding her hand.
Ann slept early, and the house was quiet. The servants finishing up their work were surprised to see Anthony holding Jane's hand as they came downstairs.
They were about to speak, but Anthony stopped them with a look.
At the cabinet where the car keys were kept, Anthony paused and asked Jane, "Which car do you want to take?"
Jane unhesitatingly pointed to a Pagani concept car, a new model released by Pagani last year. Given that it only took a full year from order to delivery, which is quite a short time, Anthony was among the first to receive this exclusive vehicle. Not only do men love cars, but women do too. Especially girls like Jane who used to enjoy being cool. The sleek lines and cool design of the Pagani made Jane's eyes light up.
"Like it?" Anthony had a slight smile.
Jane raised her chin proudly, it wasn't her car, what good was it to like it?
"Let's go." Jane opened the driver's side door.
The next moment, the door was pressed down by Anthony.
Anthony lightly tapped Jane's forehead with his finger. "What are you thinking? You're pregnant and still want to drive, go to the passenger seat."
Jane thought, 'I don't want to be pregnant. Why can only women go through this process, and not men?'
The Clark Manor was located in the city center, and there was a barbecue place just a few miles away.
Jane went happily, but when they arrived, the smile on her face faded.
"What's wrong?" Anthony asked.
"Not in the mood for barbecue." Jane said, sounding a bit aggrieved.
Jane had heard that pregnant women might really want to eat something ten minutes ago, but have no interest in it ten minutes later. She was as happy going out as she was disappointed now.
"If you don't want barbecue, we can get something else." Anthony said very patiently.
The street was crowded and brightly lit.
As people passed by, Anthony used his hand to shield Jane, completely isolating her from the crowd.
Aurora saw Anthony protecting Jane with an absolutely protective stance, as if Jane was his treasure.
Aurora had originally come to a nearby bar to find Hubert, but unexpectedly, she saw Anthony.
"Ms. Dewar, that looks like Mr. Clark?" The servant accompanying Aurora also saw Anthony and muttered in confusion, "But why would Mr. Clark come to a place like this? Could it be someone who looks like him?"
"No, that's Anthony," Aurora said.
And the woman Anthony was protecting was Jane.
Aurora's already not-so-good expression turned even worse.
She had also thought that someone as noble as Anthony would never come to such a bustling place, but here he was.
Aurora had a gut feeling that Anthony was here entirely for Jane! To accompany Jane!
When Aurora was pregnant, Anthony didn't even look at her, but now that Jane was pregnant, Anthony was treating her like a precious gem.
How ironic.
The hatred in Aurora's eyes grew stronger, revealing a sense of obsession.
