Chapter 364 Detained at the Airport!
"Hello, is this Natalie?" the caller asked.
"Hello, yes, that’s me."
"This is the security department at the capital airport. We are currently assisting a young lady who’s without any relevant identification. We have concerns that she may be involved in illegal immigration activities. She has mentioned that you are the only person she knows here. Do you know a young lady named Lilian?"
Lucas, who overheard the conversation, choked before he burst into laughter. ‘Illegal immigration? That fool!’
Natalie cast a stern glance at Lucas, who suddenly remembered they were in a hospital. He quickly covered his mouth, but when he thought about Lilian, he struggled to contain his laughter.
"Does she have golden curly hair and large turquoise eyes?" Natalie sought further confirmation from the individual on the line.
"Yes, she’s petite and appears younger than her age."
"I know her."
Natalie thought, ‘How did Lilian end up being suspected as an illegal immigrant?’
"Please come here to pick her up. You’ll need to bring the necessary documents, as there will be a registration process before you can take her," the caller instructed.
Natalie sighed and massaged her temples. Lilian had most likely lost her passport. She was not Lilian’s relative, so she could not handle the procedure for Lilian. This meant that she had to call Jamie for help.
Jamie was prompt in his response. In addition to arranging for people to contact the embassy, he also showed up to accompany Natalie.
“Lucas, you’re here as well.” Jamie was slightly surprised, having anticipated only Natalie. He greeted Lucas politely before he gestured and said, “Let’s go to the airport. The necessary documents will be brought to us there.”
"Jamie, you’re really efficient!” Lucas remarked.
Jamie smiled awkwardly. “Well, practice makes perfect. Lilian has lost her passport numerous times.”
Lucas burst out in laughter again.
…
Armed with the required paperwork, Natalie made her way to the security department. As soon as she entered the room, her eyes immediately found the golden-haired girl.
Sitting on the sofa, the girl looked bored, absentmindedly picking at her nails as she pursed her lips.
Lucas could not resist the urge to smile upon seeing this.
"Ms. Watson, you’re here!" The receptionist at the security department, a young admirer of Natalie, was visibly thrilled to see Natalie in real life. Her excitement was palpable, and she could hardly take her eyes off Natalie.
She thought, 'Such beauty!’
'Absolutely breathtaking!'
‘And her physique!’
‘Oliver really married a wonderful woman!’
"Natalie!" Lilian stood up angrily. When she caught a glimpse of the receptionist, she asked, “What’s with that look? Don’t look at my cousin-in-law like that! She belongs to my cousin. No one can steal her away!”
Previously, that Roger tried to steal Natalie away. Now even a woman was looking at Natalie like a wolf seeing prey!
The employee recoiled slightly, intimidated by Lilian's fierce reaction.
Natalie offered an apologetic smile and presented the documents she had obtained from the embassy.
"Lilian, why did you return by yourself?" Natalie asked, noticing the absence of any security personnel accompanying Lilian.
Lilian's mood soured further. Oliver had only informed her of Natalie's safety and did not want to explain further. Not only that, but she had sent over a dozen text messages to Natalie earlier, none of which received a response. When she attempted to call, there was no answer.
Driven by concern and frustration, Lilian flew back to see Natalie. Unexpectedly, she lost her passport shortly after getting on the plane. Having left without Oliver's knowledge, there was naturally no one accompanying her. Later on, when she arrived, she was naturally detained since she did not have her passport.
"Lucas, are you still laughing? Is it so funny?” Lilian asked indignantly. She was embarrassed and did not want to admit she had done something foolish.
Natalie looked at her brother disapprovingly. After all, Lilian was younger than her brother and was also more delicate.
"You were laughing at the hospital earlier. Was it not enough?” Lilian said.
Lucas attempted to suppress his grin and vehemently denied, "I’m not laughing! Did you hear me laugh?”
"You did! I saw it!" Lilian accused, pointing at his lips. She approached him and attempted to pull the corners of Lucas’ lips up before she continued, “Just a moment ago, you were smirking like this and laughing! You always make fun of me!”
The instant Lilian's finger made contact with Lucas's lips, he became utterly transfixed. He could smell her subtle floral fragrance. Her fingertips were as tender and refined as the finest porcelain. Even her angry expression was vivid and beautiful like a work of art.
In that instant, Lucas found himself holding his breath, with only the sound of his heart thundering in his ears.
Lilian had no idea she had captivated Lucas.
Natalie comforted Lilian, saying, “He wasn’t making fun of you. Don’t overthink it.”
She thought, ‘At least he didn’t laugh as hard as he did at the hospital…’
Lilian redirected her attention to Natalie, saying, “Natalie, how could you return to Paykston without me? I’m your assistant, and I should accompany you at all times. On a personal level, we’re family, and you should have included me in your plans. Why did you leave me behind?"
Natalie replied, looking helpless. “I didn’t mean to do that.”
Lilian stomped her foot in anger. “What are you trying to imply with this? Are you saying that you don’t need me and don’t want me to be around you?
