Chapter 268 Oliver's Unhappy Face

"Lucas rarely visits, and Lilian will also be here. I know that you like her,” Natalie explained.

Oliver sneered. His expression clearly said, ‘You only like that little brat. There’s no need to explain!’

Not long after, Lucas and Lilian arrived. Even before they stepped into the house, their voices could already be heard from a distance; one was soft and gentle, and the other was casual and indifferent.

Natalie was taken aback. She did not expect the duo to get along so well.

Lilian rushed in, her energy reminiscent of a tempest. She called out, "Oliver! Someone bullied me!”

However, when Lilian only saw Natalie, she asked, “Where’s Oliver?”

"He's upstairs changing his clothes. He’ll join us shortly."

Oliver usually took a shower as soon as he came home, preferring to change into more comfortable attire.

Lucas walked in. With a carefree smile, Lucas greeted Natalie warmly. "Natalie!"

Lilian, taken aback, stared at Lucas in amazement. He was fierce and hostile toward her, yet here he was, looking like an innocent puppy in front of Natalie. She asked, “Are you a Gemini? How can you have two faces otherwise?”

Lucas chose to ignore her.

“Please make yourself comfortable. We have an assortment of fruits and pastries on the coffee table,” Liam said with a smile before he added, “Lucas, Natalie prepared a feast for you today.”

"Is that so?" Lucas's face lit up with joy. After expressing his gratitude to Liam, he turned to Natalie and asked, "What did you cook for me?"

"Empanadas, grilled lamb chops, stewed chicken, and a variety of vegetables."

"Amazing! You know just what I like!" Lucas hugged Natalie enthusiastically.

Oliver, descending the stairs, witnessed this exchange and could not help but sneer.

"Oliver!" Lucas, still smiling, greeted Oliver, "How was your stay at the detention center?"

"Lucas!” Natalie said with a hint of reproach and patted him warningly on the shoulder.

Lucas playfully stuck out his tongue.

Lucas had a knack for provoking Oliver, always seeking to stir trouble.

Natalie breathed a sigh of relief, noticing that Oliver appeared unbothered by Lucas's words.

Only Lucas noticed Oliver’s meaningful gaze. He had a feeling that Oliver might have discovered his connection to ‘Well’.

“Oliver, are you alright?” Lilian's concern was palpable.

"I'm fine," Oliver reassured her.

No sooner had he spoken than Lilian rushed to his side, pointing an accusing finger at Lucas, who stood next to Natalie.

"Oliver, this person bullied me! He forced me to do chores, banned me from watching TV and using the Internet, constantly ridiculed me, and called me stupid! He didn’t even bother to tell me his name!”

Oliver dismissed her litany of complaints, addressing only the final point. "His name is Lucas."

Natalie's gaze shifted to Lucas. She told him to protect her, not bully her.

"She's falsely accusing me!" Lucas protested, his hands raised in innocence, "She never tidies her room. Should I be the one to clean it? What if I come across something private? I restrict her access to TV and the internet to shield her from Oliver’s news. What if she believed the rumors and caused unnecessary trouble? I even taught her to play games to keep her busy! Because of her, my ranking in the game dropped!”

At this point, Lucas's disdain for Lilian's gaming skills was evident.

‘She’s so dumb! I wonder if she bought her double degree!’

“How dare you say that about me!” Lilian was about to explode with anger. She complained to Natalie, “He forced me to play a shooter game, but I wasn’t allowed to fire a single shot! He made me hide inside a house and do nothing! Who would do such a thing? He clearly underestimated me!”

Whenever Lilian grew frustrated in-game, she would deliberately go against Lucas. As a novice, she even deliberately sabotaged Lucas.

Lucas said with mock remorse, “Oh, I’m sorry. I’ll download a simple game for you next time. Perhaps, Tetris or a dress-up game!”

“Are you looking down on me?” Lilian asked furiously, on the verge of stomping her foot.

"Enough, Lucas. We’re about to eat." Natalie intervened. The duo were no longer children, but they quarreled like they were in primary school.

Oliver observed the entire exchange and realized that Lilian's presence had an unexpected benefit: Lucas was so preoccupied with their arguments that he had less time to hover around Natalie.

Upon Natalie's intervention, Lucas immediately fell silent. Even when provoked by Lilian, he refrained from retaliating and instead accompanied Natalie to the kitchen to help her. He behaved impeccably around Natalie.

"Oliver, do you think Lucas has split personalities? His behavior changes drastically when he’s with Natalie compared to when he’s with me,” Lilian whispered.

Turning to his cousin, Oliver asked, "You said Lucas called you stupid?”

“Yes. Why?”

“I agree with him.”

The helpers served the food.

The enticing aroma and vibrant colors caused Lilian's mouth to water. However, after looking over the feast, she asked with a hint of disappointment, “Is there no pineapple pie?”

Lucas sneered. “Just be grateful for the meal! Didn’t you say you dislike my sister?”

Lilian was momentarily at a loss for words, feeling somewhat aggrieved. She simply had a craving for it; the store-bought ones paled in comparison to Natalie's.

Although there was no pineapple pie, the quality of the meal far surpassed the last one, which was barely palatable to her.

Lilian noticed Oliver reaching for the lasagna, only for Natalie to swiftly deflect his attempt.

"You know you have a delicate stomach; you shouldn't eat this," Natalie admonished, her gaze soft yet firm, reminiscent of a parent scolding a child.

Oliver responded with a disgruntled click of his tongue, clearly unhappy. "If I'm not allowed to eat it, why cook it? Are you trying to torment me?"

Oliver felt even more annoyed at Lucas, who always seemed to be freeloading at his house.

Lilian was stunned by the interaction between Oliver and Natalie. She was shocked that he actually listened to Natalie. However, on second thought, she realized that he truly only listened to Natalie.

"What are you staring at?" Lucas's voice broke through Lilian's reverie. "Stupid girl. I mean, Miss Norton, are you captivated by my sister’s beauty?”
