Chapter 444

A restless night followed by an early rise had Natalie inadvertently dozing off, succumbing to a light slumber under the comforting warmth of the sun.

Oliver cast a glance at Natalie, noticing her head resting against the back of the wheelchair, her head gently tilting from side to side. It was only then that he felt comfortable approaching her. The carpet in the office absorbed the sound of his footsteps, allowing him to move silently.

He lowered himself in front of her, his gaze tenderly fixating on her cheek. The previous night, after she had drifted off, the dim lighting in the room hid her face from him.

When she was conscious, he found it difficult to look directly at her bruised face—it might further injure her pride. He was aware that Natalie valued her dignity. He dared to look at her only when she was sleeping.

Her cheeks still displayed the faint red marks, evidently not the result of a single incident. Her lower lip was split and had formed a scab.

Her lack of appetite had left her complexion pale and her frame thin.

He wanted to kiss her but feared it might cause her pain, so he kissed her hair softly and whispered, “Natalie, once I fall in love, I’ll never let go.”

Natalie stirred awake, momentarily disoriented, unsure of her surroundings. Fortunately, the curtains were partially closed, shielding her eyes from direct sunlight. She was covered with a suit jacket that emanated a crisp and fresh scent. Turning her head, she saw Oliver, dressed in a shirt, swiftly sifting through documents. It was his suit jacket that now lay over her.

"You’re awake?" Oliver said as he capped his pen and approached her, gently arranging Natalie's hair and mentioning, "Isaac and Wyatt have arranged for us to have a meal together."

Natalie looked at him without responding.

"You don’t want to go?" he asked.

"Does it matter what I want?” Natalie responded sarcastically. With Oliver's domineering nature; her preferences seemed irrelevant.

Oliver did not respond and only leaned in to kiss her forehead.

Natalie barely restrained herself from rolling her eyes.

The selected venue was a nearby restaurant.

"Natalie, why are you an hour late? I’m starving here!" Isaac complained loudly as they entered the private room.

Natalie frowned. They were scheduled to meet at noon, but she had been asleep at that time. The delay was indeed her fault. However, why should she care? She did not even want to attend in the first place.

‘They should complain about Oliver instead!’ Natalie thought to herself.

At this time, Isaac finally realized that Natalie was sitting in a wheelchair, and he was bewildered. He had heard from the top executives that Oliver and Natalie might be arguing, but he did not expect her to be in a wheelchair.

Natalie's expression remained stoic and indifferent, showing no interest in everyone.

Isaac sent Wyatt a desperate look, asking for support.

Wyatt barely held back a chuckle. His gaze seemed to mock Isaac for not minding his own business.

Isaac had not anticipated the situation to be this grave when he received the call from the executives. In fact, he had come with the mentality to watch a show.

Suddenly…

"Isaac, I am here!"

Barrett walked in, looking carefree as he said, “Isn’t it a bit late to call me out for lunch at this time? Oh, Oliver, you’re here as well!”

When Barrett finally noticed Natalie in the wheelchair, he paused and asked in shock, “What happened to you?”
Married to an Ugly Husband? No!
