Chapter 1170 Shouldn't Have Come Back
Arthur's head snapped to the side from Flora's slap.
"Arthur, Tina's been missing for two days, and you're just telling me now? What kind of father are you?" Flora cried, tears streaming down her face.
Arthur looked pained. "Flora—"
"I don't want to hear it!" Flora cut him off. "If anything happens to Tina, I'll never forgive you! I should never have brought her back!"
"Flora!" Arthur's heart ached. "Don't say that."
What did she mean by never coming back?
Flora was right there, safe and sound, and to Arthur, that was a blessing.
"What happened?" Oliver asked, just arriving and clueless about the situation.
Arthur had called Oliver about Tina being missing, but he didn't know it had been two days!
A year and a half ago, Oliver wouldn't have understood this kind of worry. To him, kids were just like any other young animals.
But since Nathan was born, even though Oliver often found him a handful, he couldn't help but think of Nathan whenever he thought of Natalie.
If Nathan went missing, Oliver couldn't even imagine it.
Natalie and Jane tried to comfort Flora.
"Tina went missing after kindgarden yesterday, Flora. I didn't want to worry you, so I planned to look for her first," Arthur said, full of regret.
Tina was young yet smart, typically obedient but with her own moments of independence. She once sneaked off to the medical university 1.5 miles away from her kindergarten to look at specimens.
"Arthur, you should've told Flora right away," even the usually calm Natalie scolded him.
As a mom, she totally got Flora's feelings.
"I'm sorry, Flora," Arthur said, guilt-ridden. Flora's tear-streaked face made his heart ache, but he didn't dare to wipe her tears away.
Arthur had wanted to win Flora back. Over the past year, their relationship had stayed flat, but with Tina as a bond, they saw each other often and even had monthly dinners for Tina's sake.
Like a normal family, except both parents were super busy.
But now, this incident shattered all those illusions.
"Alright, let's start searching," Oliver said, making several calls to organize a search.
Arthur had already mobilized everyone he could, and they were still looking.
"Should we call the police?" Natalie asked, unsure.
"Not yet," Oliver said.
"We can't call the police!" Jane and Flora said almost at the same time.
Oliver and Arthur were planning the search area. Flora, too anxious to sit still, followed them.
Jane, thinking of Flora's feelings, whispered to Natalie, "When I was a kid, a family called the police when their child went missing. The child was found dead that night."
Natalie turned pale.
"Don't worry, Nathan's never been publicly shown, so no one knows what he looks like. That's a good thing," Jane tried to comfort Natalie.
But thinking about Tina missing for two days, the heavy mood lingered.
"I'll ask Anthony for help," Jane said, opening her contacts.
She didn't consider Jovan because his and Ainslee's influence was now abroad. In Paykston, they were just wealthier with more bodyguards than regular folks.
