Chapter 1022 She's Hiding It from Him!
Jane specifically asked the nurse before bringing in the oatmeal, and the nurse said that as long as there were no large movements, it wouldn't affect the wound much.
Jane glanced at Anthony a few times, thinking to herself, 'Weren't you unable to lift your arm? Now look at you, your wound healing ability is really changing by the minute!'
However, since Anthony was Jane's savior, she couldn't bring herself to say such sarcastic words.
The reason Jane was unwilling to feed Anthony oatmeal wasn't because of any gender differences, but because she knew that if she agreed to feed him now, he would make even more outrageous demands later.
'Anthony's shamelessness in certain aspects really couldn't be underestimated!' Jane thought.
Since the oatmeal had no flavor, Anthony ate it with a listless expression.
"What are you looking at?" Anthony asked with a sour face, but Jane didn't care at all.
When he glanced over, Jane was engrossed in her phone.
"Looking at photos."
'Photography works are also photos,' Jane thought.
In Jane's view, there was no need to tell Anthony about any competition, because Anthony didn't understand art at all.
Then Anthony didn't ask further.
After a while, Anthony's phone received a message. He looked at it for a moment, his gaze darkening as he looked at Jane.
Jane was also on her phone, but not at photography works anymore. Instead, she was on a private, confidential forum for foreign socialites and heirs, where a sensational post had appeared: [several important members of the Richardson family has died, and the cause of death is under investigation].
Jane was shocked and met Anthony's deep and intense gaze when she looked up.
Jane's eyes were full of shock, mixed with some worried panic.
"What did you read?" Anthony asked instantly.
"The Richardson family..." Jane blurted out, only to realize she was being led by Anthony.
Jane paused and asked Anthony, "Why are you looking at me like that?"
'Could it be that Anthony also knows about this news?' Jane thought.
"Jane, do you think there's anything you know that I wouldn't?" Anthony was very displeased with Jane's current reserved attitude towards him.
Jane used to trust Anthony completely without any reservations.
Jane bit her lip and asked worriedly, "I read it on a forum that something happened to the Richardson family. My brother is safe, right?"
Anthony looked at Jane with an unreadable expression for a few seconds, then picked up his phone again and asked his subordinate who reported the news a few questions, confirming which members of the Richardson family were involved.
"The ones who got into trouble were all Ainslee's opponents." Anthony said with a hint of sarcasm, "Do you think Jovan is safe?"
Jovan was on Ainslee's side. All of Ainslee's opponents had fallen, either dead or crippled, but the mastermind hadn't left a trace.
'If Jovan isn't safe, then who is?
'This is indeed Jovan's way of conducting himself!' Anthony thought.
"Jane, do you know why those people got into trouble?" Anthony asked Jane leisurely.
Jane shook her head. "I don't know much about the Richardson family."
Anthony didn't say anything more, his expression somewhat dark and unclear.
Jovan had been in the Richardson family for so long, always opposed by a faction within the family because he was one of them. But Jovan had never taken action against those people until a few days ago when he finally struck.
Why?
Anthony could only think that Jovan was for Jane.
Jane had almost gotten into trouble on the cruise ship, and this time she had almost lost her life. Jovan was determined to avenge his precious sister.
'If Jovan could get Jane's news so quickly, he must have either placed someone by Jane's side or he isnot far from Jane himself.
'Since the cruise ship banquet, Jane hasn't inquired about Jovan's whereabouts. Even though she knows Jovan is with Ainslee, she shouldn't have been so calm, as if she is quietly waiting for Jovan's return,' Anthony thought.
Anthony suspected that Jane had already contacted Jovan, butJane was hiding it from him.
Anthony called someone in to clear the dishes and bring in a laptop to start a video conference.
"Go ahead with your work and I'll go for a walk." Jane didn't plan to listen to Anthony's meeting and stood up.
"Sit down!" Anthony said to Jane with a displeased look, "You almost got into trouble. Where are you going?"
"Fine, I won't go. Why are you so fierce?" Jane pouted unhappily, "I was just trying to avoid suspicion since you're having a meeting. "
Anthony was indifferent. "What suspicion are you avoiding?"
"What if I hear some business secrets and sell them to your competitors? You'd have nowhere to cry!" Jane said seriously, making up nonsense, "Anyway, I'm not in your industry. If I heard something and sold it, it wouldn't count as a corporate crime."
Anthony leaned back against the soft pillow, amused, "Jane, I gave you a secondary card, and you didn't even care. Do you think you'd be interested in selling information for that $15,000?"
"Mr. Clark, this is..."
"Mr. Clark, from the Secretary's Office..."
The video conference unexpectedly connected, and the executives on the other end just happened to hear Anthony's sentence "I gave you a secondary card, and you didn't even care. Do you think you'd be interested in selling information for that $15,000?". The room instantly fell silent.
Jane thought, 'Anthony is an idiot!'
The executives in the conference room looked at each other, not daring to make a sound.
They thought, 'Did we hear wrong just now? The person Mr. Clark addressed at the beginning was 'Jane', right?'
Although they weren't familiar with the name Jane, the only person who could make Anthony so heartbroken was Ms. Watkins from the Watkins family.
The executives were surprised but not shocked.
Since Anthony and Aurora broke off their engagement, they had privately been betting on when Ms. Watkins and Mr. Clark would mend their relationshipand get back together.
Even though the Clark family and the Watkins family had a longstanding feud, but if the feud was really that effective, would these two have been entangled for so many years without a clear resolution?
The fact that they were still entangled meant it couldn't be severed.
Anthony didn't think much of it and said to the people in the video, "Let's start. I'm not feeling well, so keep it short and to the point, no unnecessary talk."
Jane had seen many bosses or second-generation heirs taking over companies, but Anthony was definitely the oddest among them. He always carried a hint of banditry, like a general who had been leading troops for years suddenly doing a bureaucrat's job. Although he could do it well, it just didn't fit his style.
However, they had to admit that Anthony's words were particularly useful.
