Chapter 1073 Miscarriage
If she told Ann about Jane's pregnancy, would it help reconcile Ann and Jane?
Anyone with eyes could see how important Jane was to Anthony. If Ava gave a little push for Jane to marry into the Clark family, Anthony would probably remember the Miller family's favor, right?
The more Ava thought about it, the more sense it made. She immediately sent the news to Ann at the Clark Manor.
Meanwhile, Jane was personally drawing the design plans to convert a large storage room on the first floor into a playroom for the baby.
"You can draw design plans?" Anthony was shocked when he saw Jane's design.
He knew Jane was skilled in many things, but interior design wasn't one of them.
Drawing design plans was much harder than design appreciation.
"I was interested in it before, so I minored in it," Jane mentioned briefly and then asked Anthony, "What do you think of this design? Is there anything that needs to be changed?"
Anthony supported Jane's waist to help her sit down, afraid she might get tired, and asked with a smile, "Are you sure you want to ask me?"
"But the money is yours, and the house is yours, so you need to take a look." Jane paused and added, "You can give opinions on safety issues, but you'd better keep your noble mouth shut on aesthetic matters."
Anthony's chest vibrated with a low laugh, clearly in a good mood.
"What are you laughing at?" Jane didn't understand. "Is there something wrong with my design?"
She spread out her design plans to take a closer look. Since interior design was just a minor subject, Jane hadn't touched it for a couple of years and wasn't sure if her professional knowledge was up to par.
Anthony's warm and tender gaze fell on Jane's face.
He couldn't tell Jane that he was laughing because her attitude towards him was becoming more natural, as if they had returned to the past.
This was the kind of relationship Anthony had always dreamed of, so how could he not be happy?
"If you need anything, let Clint handle it. You're pregnant now, don't overexert yourself, okay?" Anthony's words meant that Clint would do the work and pay for it.
Anthony originally wanted to give Jane a black card, but she refused.
Jane looked at Anthony with the eyes of someone seeing a ruthless capitalist and felt a bit sorry for Clint. "How many people's salaries do you pay Clint for exploiting him like this?"
"What, can't I order him around?" Anthony felt a bit annoyed.
Even though he knew Jane couldn't have romantic feelings for Clint, it was an undeniable fact that Jane and Clint were good friends.
Anthony's possessiveness couldn't tolerate Jane having a better relationship with any other man than with him.
Not even Jovan, her own brother, let alone Clint.
"Pick someone else," Jane said. "Choose one of the bodyguards around the villa; it would be more convenient than asking for Clint."
Clint had been by Anthony's side for years, serving him. If the procurement had to go through Clint, Jane would mostly have to call him.
He replied, "Okay."
Clint was very puzzled. He always had the feeling that Anthony had been looking at him with disfavor lately.
"Mr. Clark, have I done something wrong recently?" Clint couldn't help but ask after being coldly picked on by Anthony once again.
As the saying went, if you're going to die, you should at least know why.
"Stop interacting with Jane privately," Anthony said.
"Huh? Why?" In all these years, this was the first time Anthony had made such a request.
Anthony didn't say anything, just gave a cold look, and Clint shut his mouth awkwardly.
"Okay! I'll remember that!" Clint, full of doubts, went to the secretarial office and told his colleagues about it.
"Strange, is he guarding against Ms. Watkins?"
Everyone in the secretarial office knew about Jane, and upon hearing this, they looked at Clint like he was an idiot.
"Clint, Mr. Clark isn't guarding against Ms. Watkins; he's guarding against you!"
"Guarding against me?" Clint was shocked and quickly realized.
Anthony was unhappy with his close friendship with Jane?
This jealousy was really unreasonable!
After finalizing the design plan for the nursery, Jane didn't immediately hire someone to start the work. Instead, she invited a professional interior designer to confirm the plan to avoid any safety issues in the renovation.
When the doorbell rang, Jane naturally assumed it was the interior designer she had scheduled to meet up with.
The servant opened the door and froze.
"What's wrong?" Jane sensed something was off and got up to check.
Ann, carrying a Himalayan Hermès bag and followed by Sadie, stood at the entrance, brazenly scrutinizing everything inside, including Jane, who was walking towards them.
Jane's hair was down, her face bare but still beautiful, wearing a long house dress with a silk robe over it, and a pair of rabbit fur slippers on her feet.
Jane stopped in her tracks, completely unprepared to see Ann so soon.
"You despicable woman, when did you move in?" Ann started cursing as soon as she opened her mouth, so quickly that Sadie didn't have time to stop her.
"Ms. Watkins, the custom baby stroller from the mall will arrive in an hour, you..." The maid, who had just finished a phone call, came over to find Jane. Halfway through her sentence, she stopped abruptly, shocked to see Ann suddenly appear. 'Oh no! Why is Ann here?!'
Ann's gaze became even more vicious, focusing on Jane's abdomen, which was still flat with no visible signs of pregnancy.
Ann lifted her leg, ready to rush over and attack Jane.
"Mrs. Clark! Calm down!" Sadie quickly held Ann back, "Even if you don't like Ms. Watkins, she's carrying Mr. Clark's child!"
As Sadie spoke, she subtly signaled the maid to quickly inform Anthony.
"How can I calm down? The Clark family and the Watkins family have a huge grudge. How can Jane be worthy of carrying a Clark family child?" Ann said aggresively, pointing at Jane.
The way she said it made it seem like the Watkins family was inferior and was making use of the Clark family to climb up societal ranks.
When Jane told Anthony she was coming to South City to rest, she had anticipated that she might face Ann one day.
She just didn't expect it to be so soon.
Jane didn't want to argue with Ann and called the bodyguards inside the house. "Please escort Mrs. Clark out. I don't want to see her."
"Let's see who dares to touch me!" Ann said arrogantly, "I'm Anthony's mother. Are you Anthony's people or Jane's people?"
The head bodyguard said, "Mrs. Clark, we are under Mr. Clark's orders. When he is not present, we follow Ms. Watkins' instructions. Please leave!"
Ann was humiliated and shocked, but she knew that with the bodyguard's words, she wouldn't be able to enter the villa today, let alone touch Jane.
"Fine, Jane, no matter what, you must get an abortion!" Ann spat.
