Chapter 652 Little Secret

Lucas glanced at Lilian, who sat across from him, savoring her smoothie. Understanding the situation, she scooped up a spoonful and brought it to his lips.

Lucas couldn't refuse as he was on the phone; the smoothie entered into his mouth, and his heart raced. He asked Natalie, "Sis, what brings this up suddenly?"

"Just curious."
Natalie didn't mention Oliver because her conversation with Lucas had already told her that he was hiding something – and Oliver was in on the secret. Lucas's casual inquiry earlier was quite guarded.

After hanging up the phone, Lucas sighed in relief.

"Idiot, what were you thinking just now? Trying to blow your cover, huh? Want to end up single, is that it?" Lucas rapped Lilian's head across the table.

Lilian looked up innocently, "I just saw you eyeing my smoothie, thought I'd share."

Lucas rolled his eyes and kept silent.

"Lucas, when are you planning to tell Natalie, huh?" Lilian said earnestly, "Natalie is smart; you won't be able to keep this secret for long. Plus, if she finds out you've been hiding things on purpose, you're toast."

Lucas ran his hand through his hair, feeling the same. If Natalie discovered the truth on her own, not even his status as a leukemia patient in successful post-chemo recovery could save him.

"We're not 'deliberately' keeping it from her," Lucas told Lilian.

"Then what do you call it?"

"We just haven't told her, that's all." Lucas tried to imbue his girlfriend with the script to stick to in case his sister interrogated them about their relationship. "If my sister asks if we're together, just tell the truth."

Lilian's eyes sparkled, now convinced. "Right! Natalie never asked!"

She felt no guilt at all about keeping a secret from her sister-in-law.

Lilian happily sipped on her smoothie, then suddenly remembered something and got excited, excitedly hurried table to sit beside Lucas.

"Lucas, can I sleep over at your place tonight?" she asked with an unintentional coy tone.

Lucas felt a warm tickle in his ear, "Don't you already live at my place?"

The Wells had arranged a private apartment for Lucas close to the campus, and whenever Lilian visited him at school, they'd both stay in the off-campus private apartment.

"I mean, sleep together," Lilian said with sparkling eyes full of anticipation.

Lucas's eyelid twitched as his throat went dry involuntarily, "Do you even realize what you're saying?"

"I do." Lilian pulled out her phone, showed him a photo, and asked with a mischievous grin, "What if I wore this for you tonight? Good idea?"

Lucas caught sight of the image on the screen and nearly jumped out of his skin.
"When did you pick up something like this?" Lucas's brows danced with suppressed irritation as he impulsively slapped Lilian's phone onto the table.

She had bought a risqué costume!
And it was a devil outfit, complete with a tail!
Lucas didn't need to see her in it; the mere thought of her in a black, lacy number was enough to get his blood boiling.

All in a candy shop, of all places! In public!

"So, you don't like it?" Lilian couldn't fathom Lucas's reaction as she questioned him, "But Noah mentioned guys dig this sort of thing. Or is it the style you're not into? He said there's a leopard print one, too."
"Stop!" With each detail Lilian revealed, Lucas couldn't stop the images from flooding his mind,."It's not about whether I like the style or not; it's that you don't need to wear that at all."

Rubbing his forehead, Lucas asked, "How did you come by this? Who put you up to this? Noah?"

"No, it's because since you came back from your trip." Lilian's head drooped with sadness. "Lucas, don't you like me anymore? Have you lost interest in me?"
Lucas was at a loss for words.
Though he longed to be intimate with Lilian again.
"How could you think that?" Lucas soothed her by rubbing her head. "I just think you're still young."
"I am an adult now! I'm not young anymore! I've even graduated from college!" Lilian protested.
Lucas wished he could drag a bystander over to take a look and have Lilian hear just how much she still seemed like a high school student to others.

"Do you want to?" Lucas asked in a lowered voice, conceding.
"Want what?"
Raising an eyebrow, Lucas prodded, "What do you think?"
After a two-second delay, Lilian nodded in affirmation and excitement, whispering to Lucas, "Lucas, we're in a relationship now; doing that is our right. You don't have to be shy about it! I'll make sure you enjoy it!"

Lucas's face set firm. "One more word, and you're sleeping alone tonight."
Lilian immediately clamped her hand over her mouth.

The thought of the living room activities she had promised Oliver left Natalie irritable.
She'd ventured to the supermarket to stave off the hunger of a man who'd been fasting for days and tame the beast into a gentler kind of wolf. She stocked up on Oliver's favorite ingredients, planning to cook his preferred dishes, hoping a full stomach would make him less inclined towards vigorous activity.
Oliver left work early, arriving home two hours ahead of schedule. At that time, Natalie was lounging in the living room, engrossed in a TV show, when he walked in and planted a kiss on her.

Below his cool exterior was a warmth pulsating with passion, his gaze deep and abyssal, carrying an air of danger.

"Natalie, let's have dinner first," she suggested, trying to turn her face away, but he held her chin firmly.
Married to an Ugly Husband? No!
