Chapter 1125 Bracelet
Jovan admitted that he was the one who almost single-handedly beat up Anthony.
"Of course not. You must have had your reasons for hitting him." Jane guessed that Jovan probably confronted Anthony because of her pregnancy and miscarriage.
However, the fact that Anthony drove to Jovan's house showed that Anthony brought it upon himself.
Jovan was particularly pleased by Jane's words, and after laughing for a while, he said, "That bastard came to deliver a bracelet, the one I gave you before. But it was broken, so he had it repaired with gold."
Observing Jane's expression, Jovan said, "Once the bracelet is broken, it's not worth keeping. I'll get you a better one another day. How about that?"
"Okay," Jane replied.
Jovan didn't interfere too much in Jane's personal affairs; he just wanted her to be happy.
But her happiness was contingent on her not getting hurt.
Jovan had given Anthony a chance, but Anthony blew it. Now, even Jane didn't want to see him. So why did he bother bringing a bracelet? Was he trying to be an eyesore?
A week later, at an auction in Paykston, a bracelet started at 38 million dollars and was finally sold for 100 million dollars.
The buyer was Jovan.
Many people said that the bracelet wasn't worth the price, and that 100 million dollars could buy a much better one.
At the time, Jovan just smiled and said, "My sister's bracelet broke, and she happened to need a new one."
Spending that 100 million dollars seemed like spending just a hundred dollars.
Jovan's extravagant gesture for Jane made him famous again for spoiling his sister, rekindling many Paykston rich kids' nightmares.
"Mr. Clark, the 100-million-dollar bracelet was bought by Mr. Watkins, probably for Ms. Watkins." Clint hesitated.
Clint had been in charge of following up on the repair of Jane's previous bracelet, so he knew that Anthony had returned the repaired bracelet to Jovan to give to Jane.
Jovan's purchase of a new bracelet at such a high price indicated that Jane and Jovan, did not accept Anthony's bracelet.
At least, Jovan didn't accept it. Not only did he not accept it, but he also gave Anthony a good beating.
Anthony sat in his office chair, staring expressionlessly in the direction of the floor-to-ceiling window.
He had once sat in that spot, basking in the sun all afternoon. He had even considered putting a lazy sofa there for Jane.
Jane had probably caught a cold at the party. Since returning, she had been nursing a cold at the villa. During this time, many socialites and fashion editors had invited Jane out, but she declined, citing her illness. She stayed home for over two months and only went out three or four times; once to visit Tina at Flora's new home, and the other times to see Nathan at the Rosewood Estate.
When she finally went out again, the weather had turned warm, and Jane wore a long dress.
Her studio assistant, Lester Wells, was waiting at the villa with Jane's camera.
"Jane, the Cunningham Group has arranged a studio on the west side of the city. It will only take us half an hour to get there," Lester said as he tried to open the car door for Jane, but she stopped him with a gesture.
She said, "I can open the door myself. I don't have that many rules."
"Okay, thank you," Lester said.
Once in the car, Lester went over the project details with Jane, including the background, content, and client requirements. Jane was already familiar with most of it, but it was the assistant's basic responsibility to remind her.
"I heard the studio changed owners." Jane suddenly remembered.
"Yes, that's true. The studio originally belonged to the daughter of the Corporation family. She got married to a noble heir three months ago and has since settled abroad. She sold the studio a while ago," Lester explained.
"Oh," Jane said.
Jane felt it was a pity. The studio wasn't large by Paykston standards, but it had the most advanced equipment, perfect for shooting.
If she had known earlier that the studio was for sale, she might have considered buying it for her own use.
Such studios were expensive, but now that Jovan was back and frequently giving her millions in pocket money, and Ainslee often gifted her "unremarkable" items like diamonds, Jane was not short of money.
"Ms. Watkins!" The project manager from the Cunningham Group greeted her warmly with a big smile, ready to make small talk.
But Jane cut him off. "I like to keep things simple when I work. Let's get started right away." Since she was there to work, there was no need to waste time on pleasantries.
The manager swallowed his words and said, "Alright, Ms. Watkins, this way, please. The model is already prepared inside."
"Who's the model?" Jane asked as she walked in.
"Melissa Butler," the manager answered.
"Who?" Jane thought for a moment but couldn't recall.
The manager hesitated, almost showing a scornful expression as if to say, "You don't know Melissa Butler?".
But he still had to patiently explain, "Melissa is a rising star who recently won a Best Newcomer Award and was nominated for Best Actress. She's on a strong upward trajectory."
In short, Melissa was doing very well. Jane understood.
Lester's expression changed slightly upon hearing Melissa's name.
He whispered to Jane, "It's said that Melissa's Best Newcomer Award and Best Actress nomination were bought by her backers."
"Do you have an issue with her?" Jane detected the underlying tone and looked at Lester with amusement.
Lester was a year younger than Jane and was personally selected by her. He had just graduated from college and still had a youthful straightforwardness in his speech and actions.
"I don't." Lester didn't want to admit it.
Realizing he couldn't hide it from Jane, Lester confessed, "Melissa is with the Johnson Group's entertainment company."
"Hmm?" Jane was momentarily confused.
"I heard Delilah is her direct superior," he added.
Having lived a peaceful month, Jane had almost forgotten about "Delilah."
She paused for a moment, then resumed her pace and joked with Lester, "You seem well-informed. Maybe you should become a paparazzo?"
Jane said, "Just pretend you don't know about this. Business is business, and personal is personal. Besides, I have nothing to do with Delilah."
"Oh." Lester nodded.
Lester thought rumors had it that Delilah might be involved with Anthony from the Clark family. Given your long entanglement with Anthony, how could you have nothing to do with Delilah?
From Jane's perspective, she indeed had nothing to do with Delilah and wasn't even familiar with her.
However, the outside world didn't see it that way.
Jane quickly realized this.
"Where's the photographer? I've been waiting for half an hour. Who does he think he is, trying to show off? I'll wait five more minutes. If he doesn't show up, I'm not doing the shoot!"
