Chapter 215 I'm warning you, don't touch her!

Clint hesitated for a moment, and in the end, he did not say anything.

The polite smile on Natalie’s face vanished immediately as she asked, “Anthony is in there as well, right? I want to go in.”

"Natalie, I can’t let you in. Don’t worry. Anthony won’t harm Jane,” Clint replied.

Natalie laughed mockingly upon hearing those words. She asked, “Did Anthony not harm Jane in the past? Or do you believe that if the harm is not physical, it doesn’t count?”

Natalie felt uneasy. The more Clint tried to prevent her from entering, the more certain she was that something was wrong. Moreover, if Jane was willing to talk to Anthony, why were Clint and the others so determined to stop her from entering?

"Anthony, you’re despicable!"

A woman’s voice rang out. Apart from anger, if one listened closely, one could also hear a mix of grievances and humiliation.

"Jane!" Natalie cried out.

"Natalie, you really can’t go in.” Clint continued to block her path.

Natalie made a motion as though she was about to force her way through, taking two steps forward.

Just as Clint was about to intervene, the bodyguard behind Oliver stepped forward, prompting Anthony's men to quickly surround them, ready for confrontation.

The tension between the two groups escalated, bringing the situation to the brink of conflict.

"Natalie!"

Jane emerged from the theater at this time, looking solemn. Her ponytail, once neatly tied, now hung loose. Her eyes were red, indicating she had been crying. Her lips bore a bright red color, but it was different from the shade of her lipstick earlier. As she walked, her steps were slightly unsteady.

Natalie frowned as she asked worriedly, “Are you alright?”

"I’m fine." Jane managed a weak smile. “I’m sorry for making you worry.”

"What are you saying? We’re friends. You don’t have to be so polite,” Natalie said, feeling both angry and worried. Then, she whispered, "Are you really okay? Do you want me to take you back?"

Jane found solace in her best friend's kind and thoughtful words. Feeling emotional, she nodded, saying, “Yes please.”

The entire place was silent save for the distant cheerful screams coming from a rollercoaster, which was a stark contrast to the atmosphere here.

It was clear to everyone that Jane had been forcefully detained inside.

Natalie looked at Clint disdainfully and asked snappily, “Is this what you mean when you said he wouldn’t harm her?”

Clint's normally impassive gaze showed a flicker of embarrassment. He had anticipated a confrontation between Anthony and Jane but had not expected things to be so bad.

At this moment, Anthony emerged from the theater.

“Anthony.”

Clint nodded at him. He noticed the red mark on Anthony's handsome face but pretended like he did not see it.

The others also greeted Anthony respectfully.

Anthony, always dressed in black, looked at Jane solemnly, ignoring the others.

Natalie felt Jane’s body stiffen when Clint greeted Anthony, but Jane pretended like nothing was wrong. However, it was clear that something had happened. Everyone had heard Jane scolding Anthony earlier.

"I'll take Jane back now," Natalie announced.

Charles looked at Oliver, who nodded in approval.

Charles hurried to open the car door for Natalie and Jane and then drove them away.

After a while, Anthony finally said, “It’s been a while, Oliver.”

Oliver examined Anthony from head to toe before he replied, “I didn’t come to see you, Anthony. I came to accompany my wife to look for her friend.”

Anthony had had previously suspected a connection between Oliver and Simon Frost of RK Group, so he was not surprised that he called Natalie his wife.

"The handprint on your face is quite distinctive,” Oliver remarked, staring at Anthony’s face.

Jane had slapped Anthony earlier.

Anthony was unfazed. He could naturally hear the mockery in Oliver’s voice, so he asked, “Do you have a grudge against me?”

"No." Oliver shrugged. "I simply feel bad for Jane."

Natalie was worried about Jane's well-being, largely due to Anthony's influence. His presence continually disrupted Jane's life, which also meant that Natalie was always worried about Jane.

‘As if it’s not enough to worry about her sixteen-year-old brother, she also has to worry about her best friend!’

Anthony’s expression changed immediately as soon as he heard those words. “I’m warning you, you better not have any thoughts about her!”

Oliver glanced at Anthony and said, “I have no interest in a woman who’s inferior to Natalie.”

“Who did you say is inferior?” Anthony advanced, closing in on Oliver.

Both men had imposing auras, and the tension between them was palpable.

Charles and Clint exchanged a look and swiftly moved to stand by their respective bosses, hoping to de-escalate the situation.

"Sir, please don’t act rashly!”

“Anthony, calm down! If Jane were here, she would definitely side with Natalie.”

Anthony recalled how protective Jane was of Natalie and pursed his lips, clearly displeased.

Although Oliver did not know the details of Jane and Anthony’s relationship, he vaguely knew a thing or two thanks to Natalie. Men understood men best. He knew that if Anthony did not have any feelings for Jane, Anthony would not be here now.

When Jane arrived at her house, she insisted that Natalie return home as well.

However, Natalie was still worried. She asked, “Are you sure you don’t want me to stay with you?”

“Yes, don’t worry,” Jane replied.

“You…” Natalie, familiar with Jane's nature, knew that in moments of genuine distress, Jane would endure silently.

After comforting Jane with a few words, Natalie gave her the space she needed to recover alone.

Suddenly, before entering her house, Jane suddenly stopped Natalie and asked, “Can you help me get something?”

“What do you need?” Natalie asked.

“Contraceptive pills,” Jane replied in a voice devoid of emotions.

There was a pharmacy conveniently located just outside the apartment complex.

Natalie, with mixed feelings, bought emergency contraceptive pills known for their minimal side effects. Upon her return, she got Jane a glass of warm water and carefully placed the pills in her hand. She knew for sure now that something had happened between Jane and Anthony in the theater.

“Jane…” Natalie called out; voice laden with worry.

"I’m really fine. Don’t worry," Jane said reassuringly, forcing a smile on her face, “It’s not as if that was my first time with him. What does it matter if there’s one more time? I’m not a paragon of virtue…”

It was obvious that these callous words directed at herself were masking her sorrow.

Following that, Jane tilted her head back and consumed the pill in one swift motion.

At the same time, Natalie remembered the summer two years ago, which was also the year that the Watkinses fell.

At that time, Jane, beautiful as she was, was targeted by several young men in the elite circle. After her part-time job, the young men surrounded her, harboring nefarious intentions.

No matter how capable Jane was, she was outnumbered. At that time, those men tried to tear her clothes, and she could only risk her own life to get out of the predicament. She found a brick on the ground and ruthlessly struck herself in the head.

Those young men were frightened by her action, afraid they would be implicated in a murder case. As such, they quickly fled, leaving her alone, bleeding heavily.
